In my opinion, the Call Of Duty franchise has ruined not only FPS’ but gameplay across the board in both competitive play and casual. Bungie took just a few snippets and put them in Reach and look what has happened to the Halo franchise, and we all know it hasn’t just been Halo. However it seems to me that 343 has listened and has made Halo 5 the Halo we’ve wanted. Some people don’t agree with everything they’ve done but I don’t see how you can argue. They’ve taken out everything we were complaining about, they brought back some core Halo mechanics, and evolved it and modernized it so it isn’t stale. But that’s besides the point. Rainbow Six Siege comes out on December 1st. A month after the “new” CoD. Which is certainly enough time for people to get bored of it and switch to a new game. The new Black Ops looks boring and repetitive and from the beta I played, it plays boring and repetitive as well. Rainbow is a ridiculously fun game and just about every match I was in in the Beta I heard at least one person say “F*** CoD, I’m getting this game.” For those of you that don’t know, back in the day it was Rainbow and Halo that ruled the original Xbox, up until CoD came along. Now I think its going to be back to that. Halo 5 looks amazing and so does Siege. CoD needs to take a hike, the bane of video game industry.
CoD will sell more than Halo, but it’s releasing on 4 consoles. CoD won’t die because people will buy it regardless, like the iPhone.
This isn’t going to end well.
But, I don’t think CoD is going anywhere for a while. Blops the Third has nearly 1 million preorders on PS4 & XB1 alone (and it’s on PC, PS3, and 360 as well, for some reason) … and that’s more than Halo 5 & Fallout 4 combined.
And some people prefer twitch shooters, so it’s all subjective. You’re allowed to buy Halo 5 and Black Ops III and play them both and enjoy them both. They’re very different shooters, so if you like variety, then there you go.
I’m not a CoD fan, but there’s nothing constructive about trashing other franchises. Competition is good and people enjoy those games, so as long as both franchises are doing well and people are enjoying them then that’s great.
