I literally just came onto the forums to post a similar thread to say that 343 deserves better from the community.
Sure - the progression system needs some work but the gameplay itself is fantastic - this Halo is part of a 10-year plan, I think we should give them some time to get things in order.
Deserve respite, hahahahahahahaha, they’ve half made a video game in 5 or 6 years.
They haven’t cured a disease working 20 hours a day.
They’ve been sat in their underpants for 2 of those years scratching their danglies eating potato chips.
This game has more holes in it than a piece of the Swiss cheese they’ve munched when they’ve run out of potato chips. And the only reason no one is talking about those problems is the fact that everyone is so angry about the progression system that they’re failing to realise all of the other flaws.
They’ve just released it, they should be on the edge of their seat, answering EVERY single criticism on here, not having a break and only answering the thousands of comments on the progression system ONCE and completely ignoring every other criticism.
What’s worse is, the so called ‘forerunners’ (content creators) that 343 made to play the game in the 2 years leading up to the release are now too frightened to offer any criticism at all (except 2 videos relating to the progression system surrounded by 1000 343 buttkiss vids) in case they do t have similar opportunities in the future, removing their (our) voice from the community too.
Respite , it’s their job! it’s taken too long and they would have released the popping cloud, Craig mess last year if we didn’t speak up and now they’re ignoring this mess.
And the ‘Community Manager’ Unyshek who writes one limited character twitter post once in a blue moon, ignores every forum post, makes one YouTube video a month never community related, and diverts any question to that unrelated Twitter post. WHAT ARE YOU MANAGING?
Please be mindful that the past several years have been disruptive to many businesses and 343 is not the only game developer that has had significant delays due to the global pandemic - working remotely makes it a lot more challenging for colleagues to give feedback and bounce ideas off each other’s.
Game designers for years have undergone “crunch” in an effort to make deadlines, and now that it’s coming out this is no longer an acceptable practice from a worker perspective, consumers may need to adjust their expectations as less coder hours put in over time means less content output.
I understand your post but quite frankly everyone at 343i is to blame for how Infinite currently is. They work for 343i and represent the company.
Do you really think that some low paid engineer is not at fault? What happens if they go onto Twitter and start tweeting racist things? They’ll get fired because whilst working at 343i, they represent the company.
I think it’s ludicrous to think that ‘the little guy’ at 343i is not to blame, they’re following orders. Where have we heard that excuse before? Just because you don’t have much sway in decisions still doesn’t mean you’re not part of the problem.
343i’s name is on the game, everyone that works there is responsible for Infinite. Heck, it’s not like some game studios where they have the company split into different divisions making different games. 343i only makes Halo games. Infinite is the only Halo title currently being worked on (excluding maintenance on games like MCC).
The holiday week is over, I sincerely hope that the next report you give us from 343i directly addresses all the problems and concerns of the community and does not go around in its arguments.
I personally have been around a long time with regards to Halo, but seeing this community acting the way it is - truly is disappointing.
343i does deserve some respite, they’ve developed an incredible Halo experience and have listened to us at every turn and they will continue to do so. I doubt F2P was their choice either, I imagine Xbox forced this model on them.
Give them a break, the developers must be burnt out by now
I Disagree Strongly… I really wish I could give 343i the BotD, outside of the Campaign… but 343i have once again done the exact same thing they did when Halo 5 & MCC launched, except worse, that’s strike 3… no more chances or sympathy from me.
IF 343i does not fix the lack of playlists, custom games being broken 1/2 the time, same with theatre, and the horribly limited customization via armor cores and slow AF progression by the time the next battle pass releases, I’m just not gonna buy it, if me opening my wallet is the ONLY thing they’re gonna listen to, then they’re not getting any more battle pass money from me.
I don’t care how amazing or nostalgic the next set of unlocks are for season 2, enough is enough and i’m just tired of giving devs chances every single time only to be burnt again and again by them… and I sure as hell ain’t waiting for another 6 years for 343 to make this game fully realized and feature complete…
Criticism and patience is fine as long as feedback is taken and listened to with action being taken but in my past experience some people at 343i tend to ignore feedback and don’t handle it well.
A lot of us spent the entire duration of the flight bringing up the issues of the battle pass and progression system but it looks like it fell on deaf ears as usual and they released it as is. Same thing happened with Halo 5’s req packs…
Their latest addressing of the issue gives us a band aid fix with the first 7 games giving more xp but its still dumb since there’s still no difference in rewards between a player putting in their all in a match and someone being afk in a corner…
Sad thing is that’s true and they continued to release a sort of early access game instead of a proper beta…zero clue why they call it a beta when there’s no major gap between launch and ‘release’ so no time to make major changes. Yeh Halo 5 wasn’t great but I think the way there handling Infinite is worse.
I know they mislead fans but now there straight up refusing to make major changes and I feel like 343i have learnt nothing. I feel like whoever is making the decisions right now is hurting the IP and further increasing the trust issues. I may have been mixed with 343i with Halo 5 in the past but their recent behaviour with Infinite makes it very difficult to trust anything they say.
Alright 343, break time is over. Give it a solid 3 weeks to get this train back on track for the community before the end of year holidays. We’re all rooting for you.
