For those who have really no idea in hell what I’m talking about.

Imagine if Infinites MP would have launched together with the campaign for $60, how much of a profit loss would 343 have incurred with the blatant amount of refunds? My guess is a lot.
But I did just get done watching LateNightGamings video of his wishlist for Infinite MP in 2022, and holy cow did I get a look at how just unpolished and incomplete Infinite MP actually is. But sure let’s just keep adding things to our uberly overpredatory store to keep players looking the other way while we fix things.
Oh but 343 got tremendous praise for how they did their never expiring battle pass and had other communities pleading with their game devs to do their battle pass just like 343s… oh wait, the never expiring battle pass has “and then some” monetization for colors.
Seriously and I mean quite seriously 343, where in the hell did you go wrong with all this when you had your management shake up? For reference…

That even back then had fans worried about Infinites direction, and well come now, it painfully is in full fruition. I mean sure I’m thankful for sk3tch having put out a roadmap. But that shouldn’t even need to be a thing 343. This game needed at least a few more months delay and it clearly is showing that. I’m sure fans would have been upset sure, but they would’ve been fine with it if it meant fans would have gotten a better MP experience than what is being stuck with right now and maybe a less predatory shop.
Thankfully MP is F2P because I don’t want to imagine the backlash if the MP was included with the base game for full price.
The team needs to get with it, because that video from LateNightGaming left me disappointed. A Halo title should be a helluva lot more polished than what this excuse of a MP experience is right now. Not to mention how bad the HCS tournament was with the disconnects.
That’s all I have to say.

The only reason it didn’t fall into that trap is because Halo is a bigger name than cyberpunk. Cyberpunk was a new IP AND it doesn’t have multiplayer. So there were a lot less conversations around that game because it wasn’t like people were logging in every day like they do with Halo multiplayer.
The campagin is also far more functional than cyberpunk at launch and multiplayer is free which gained it a lot of attention.
All of this doesn’t excuse the lack of content and problems people are experiencing with the game. As you said. It just fell short of the cyberpunk disaster

I agree, Halo Infinites campaign is the saving grace honestly, despite people’s opinions on it. I don’t exactly know how 343 is going to bounce Infinites MP back to working order but I honestly hope they do before the interest in it wanes to a halt. I remember the same thing happened to Halo 5 after some time because the game just started being unfun for some.

I personally don’t like the campaign. It doesn’t fit the last two games lore wise. It feels like to much of a departure. I also think that the grappling hook as too much of a presence in the campagin. Even tho grappling is fun it doesn’t feel the same as walking around in halo 2. Ironically the open world is actually just like cyberpunks because there wasn’t much to do in the campaign but the main missions. Some side missions and collectables. That’s it. It’s not like the world was “alive” it’s just static.
Halo 5 is happening all over again. Back then people complained about content and left the game and never came back. The same is happening here. Some might come back but it won’t be the same. The most one cruical mistake 343 did with Halo 5 was not releasing forge with the game. And now they did it again and this time it’s ganna take even longer for it get here. I have no doubts that it will be the best forge ever but if there’s no moral behind it people won’t play it, especially if people feel like they are not being heard

Being able to say “But its free” is the perfect overshield. It is just what 343 needed to nade jump this hot garbage fire into the new year without it completely dying.

I remember before the launch of the campaign a lot of people went “oh the multiplayer is just a beta. More will come at launch”. It is the perfect oversheild. As OP stated above if the multiplayer launched with the campagin it wouldve been a hard sell. It’s very easy to say “but it’s free”. It shuts out a lot of valid criticisms and even if it doesn’t, it still muddys the conversations because people waste time speaking about wether or not it should be free
