As the title states I suck at multiplayer and was wondering if anyone has tips. I feel like my aim is the main reason for my poor performance match after match but that could only be one problem. I don’t understand how I’m bad at this multiplayer when infinite is the only game I play at the moment and spend the rest of my day playing since I have the time to do so. So if anyone has tips it would be appreciated because I’m tired of letting my team down every games.
I feel your pain. Multiplayer can be really difficult, especially if you are running into above average players regularly.
I am no expert but based on what you have written, I would suggest the following:
Try adjusting your sensitivity settings which may assist your aiming. Bear in mind that if you make it slower, you won’t turn around as quick so will always lose fights if you are attacked from behind but at least you can hit targets in front of you.
Stay with your team mates. This is important as 2/3 people shooting targets is better than trying to go at it solo. Thai will also help you with map knowledge and finding action spots on maps.
Weapon selection. I am garbage with some weapons but load me up with a BR and I can clock up 15 + kills per game. Not pro level but I am happy with those stats as I am contributing to the teams objectives. Practice with the most common guns and see if you perform better with a certain type. If you are, make sure you get one in game to assist you.
Game modes- Some game modes are harder than others. On BTB, I struggle more than on 4v4’s. This may be the opposite for most people, but find out if you do better on certain game types.
That’s all I can think of now, good luck!
-
Controller settings tuning, there are some good guides on this.
-
If you are in a game with a player who performs really well watch their point of view in theatre. How you move around the map makes more of a difference than a slight increase in accuracy.
-
Weapon drills were really helpful for me to improve accuracy. Ignore the stars and continue to always try and beat your high score on the tier 3 drills, helps a lot with target tracking. I recommend practice with AR, BR, sidekick and power weapons.
-
Training mode with 4 Spartan bots with play fighting enabled - a little harder to hit than tier 3 drills and lets you practice grenades. Play fighting means they dont shoot at you they just jump all over the place looking at you.
Watch some pros play. HCS highlights on youtube or their own twitch channels. I don’t ever plan to be a pro or whatnot, but it does help me in playing better to see how they do it and handle certain situations.
Search on Youtube how to adjust your deadzones and thresholds if you are on controller, that is the most powerful adjustment you can make. This will greatly help your aim instantly.
Watch Halo Championship series games on twitch and see how the players move and what strategies they use. You will learn a lot just by watching other players play.
Halo is not a game about running and gunning,
-It’s knowing when to push and when to hold back,
-What weapon combo to use based on the size of the map.
-What equipment to use and where.
This is well known but an absolute advantage If your using grenades,
Don’t always use them to just lower the enemies shield. They are also just as useful to draw enemies out of cover and direct the enemy to where you want them to go.
Eg) Throw a grenade in one entry way and then instantly swap your aim to the other doorway. The player will almost always go the opposite direction of the incoming grenade if they are under attack.
Reason being… Players are used to playing instinctively when at risk of death. Most players will forget strategy and focus on just trying to stay alive when under pressure or low shield.
So when you put them under pressure you can control and predict how and when they will move.
Don’t worry too much about letting your team down, just try your best to get as many assists as and as many shots on the enemy as you can.
Halo is not about KD ratio, it never has been. It’s about contribution to the team and most importantly… simply winning the game!
A plus 15 KD ratio means absolutely nothing if you lose the game. All the glory is in the Win. That’s the true way halo was meant to be played.
I hit ONYX in both solo/duo and open.
Some helpful tips.
DONT CHASE.
the more you chase the worse of a position you put yourself.
DISENGAGE.
Run away, Did that guy get the first 2 shots? Let him have his day you’ll be back.
PLAY DUMB.
Mind games are important. If you are playing a high skill player sometimes doing the dumb play will throw them off. And for worse players you can outwit.
FIND AREAS OF COMFORTABILITY.
I know myself. Some areas of the map i’ll play better in. Stick To where your comfortable. Obviously objective kind of throws all that out but claim an area as yours.
Lower your aim sensitivity! Fast enough for when people are close and low enough for when they’re far.
Also try playing ranked. It’ll rank you with people around your skill level more or less
If all fails just try to have fun, find some to play with and have a blast. That’s what it’s really all about
You can do this? Well now I need to watch myself suck from the third person.
I’m not the best player in the world or nothing but these common tips help me.
a good headset, hearing your environment is important to the weapons going off if they are to your right or left maybe even behind. having a headset has saved me from sneaky players in my time as well.
Have good patience and staying focused helps even getting up and taking breaks help. Play with friends help with teamwork fighting bots help and train you and your aim maybe even mess with the sensitivity and options to see what works for you. Heck, I haven’t touched multiplayer since November hopefully this helps. If not, well hopefully someone can. I know you can get better and don’t beat yourself up over it these things just take time.
Practice makes perfect. Utilize the weapon training. Tune your settings. And practice. Even if it means you go back to the shooting range in academy. Or to get a feel for the mechanics, go back to previous Halo Multiplayers and get good at them. My tips are:
-play Halo 5 to get better at aiming and fluid movement
-play Halo 3/Reach to get used to the Power Up mechanics.
-play Halo 4 to master Sprint.
- compile all of those skills and you should be able to master Halo Infinite. Campaign also makes for killer practice, especially with grapple hook or threat sensor.
Take breaks. Spending hours a day on any FPS will burn you out.
Gotta pay attention to your own body as well. It’s just as important as any of these other tips.
If your energy is low or your eyes are sore, you are simply just not going to operate at peak.
