I still can't aim for crap.

I don’t know why, but I still can’t aim for -Yoink- in this game. I could aim just fine in every other Halo but this one. Whether it’s the game or if it’s just me I don’t know, but I’ve screwed with the aim acceleration, the deadzones, and the sensitivity, and I still can’t hit a damn thing. It seems other players can hit me while they’re boosting away, or if they’re in the middle of crouching, but I cannot…hit…ANYTHING.

I’m seriously considering uninstalling it because I can’t aim, and it’s made in unplayable for me. Again, whether it’s the game or me, I don’t know.

Try these settings, this is as close to the beta and past Halo games as possible:

  • Acceleration: 2 - Sensitivity: 3 (Variable, depending on your personal preference. But high sens does not equal better aim.) - Inner Deadzone: 0 % - Outer Deadzone: 0-10 %

Aiming in H5 is harder than the past games.

It seems that way. It’s just frustrating as Hell.

Just play a lot and you’ll get the hang of it

I’ve practically been playing since it came out (I got it day one)

Change your look acceleration to 2. It’ll be frustrating as hell to get used to, but once you’re used to it, you’ll have no problem at all. Personally, I play with look acceleration 2 and sensitivity 4.

I find that my main issues are in duels with other players. I lose 9/10 in Halo 5, but in the previous ones it was 1/10 that I lost.

I feel you, tbh honest though I had no issues with aiming from launch, in fact I was doing well, ranking up, got as high as plat 4 and I felt like diamond was reachable the way I was playing, I had 45% average accuracy on most precision weapons and I felt I was still improving. However since the January update it’s been a completely different story, all my stats have plummeted, KD, KDA, rank and accuracy is now like 35-37 on most precision weapons. Lag and latency have also made the game intensely frustrating, I don’t mind going negative or getting beat aslong as I feel like the game is running welI, but when you can visibly see shots not registering, players bouncing off your spartan charge and melee’s to their back, hit markers with the shotty from point blank range, getting wrecked by a one hit melee etc I wasn’t a good player to begin with and don’t want to blame the game but I don’t know, did I just become a worse player overnight ?

I was in the same boat until I tried 3 sens 1 accel, it’s hella slow but now I at least can hit things.

3 (2 is a bit slow)
3
0%
0%

If your aim starts drifting on it’s own then raise inner deadzone by 1% until it settles
If you think you’re experiencing slow turn raise outer deadzone by 1% until you think it’s performing right

This will get you started just fine and I have to say these are the easiest setting to start optimizing with… Once you start feeling like it’s not turning fast enough you can raise either your acceleration or sensitivity to 4 (I prefer 4 accel) and then start shrinking the operating zone by raising outer deadzone by 1% until it feels like it’s perfect. If I remember correctly from Formal’s stream, he used 4/3/0%/0% (at least it’s what his teammates used) getting his champ 1# so there’s really no need to start learning quicker sensitivities than 3 or 4 in order to match the competition.

Back buttons are sweet and I really feel like they have been an instant level-up for all my friends who started using them as you don’t ever have to take your thumb off the thumbstick. I know adding back buttons did the trick for me. I believe winning duels is just as much about mastering evasive maneuvers, after all if you actually pay attention to how often even pros get perfect shots it’s next to nothing… From the feedback I’ve heard about scufs and elites they seem to have slighty improved thumbstick precision (I personally doubt this)

We’ve also been doing 200 frag magnum ffa games to get rid of aiming issues when we got back into console scene. Forged maps tho so can’t help you with that. This has really worked miracles

I’m done with this game. Just played for an hour, scattershot hit markers from point blank range on rig, players just bouncing off my melee to their back, their BACK !! bullets on target not registering. I would sell it but I can’t even do that.

Yeah I just had a game where I scattershot a guy twice in the back at point plank range, he did not die, but proceeded to disappear from my screen reappear behind me and beat me down
the “servers” are infuriating
if you’re not playing from America you’re going to have a bad time

on topic, the aiming mechanic was changed by the “pro team” so while changing the aim acceleration to 2 may alleviate some issues and make it a bit more smooth
the fact is that because the new mechanic is a two turn system it will always feel off
Precision aim mode is too slow and turn mode too fast
it will always feel wrong if you’re used to old halo aiming
