Its like if Patton always wore a giant suit of knights armor and put on a Poncho then went in a desert.
A famous hero and he is wearing super powerful armor with a poncho. He is a very Pale mand and is 7’2, a guy like that just can’t hide. If he is on the Ark it would be 1,000 times harder to conceal himself. Its not like Spartan II’s are just roaming around with Ponchos out there…unless it is the location of the next generation of Spartans training site. Not to mention the only known Portal is at Earth so WTH who else would be on the Ark.
People have many good reasons for it being the Ark and Reach but for the reason of him hiding it has to be Reach.
It would of been better to have the trailer with MC using camouflage showing his footsteps as he trouts through the sand, stops looks at the AI chip (out of the cloaking field) then when the Forerunner unit blasts the dust away, it messes with the camo and reveals MC with Mark in mark VII.
I am more than positive that most on the forums believe that MC is on the Ark but…did a poll anyway. Take your pick leave a reply if you like and lets wait another year to see who’s right.
But I think he’s wearing the poncho just because it was a teaser trailer and 343i didn’t want to give away that the person walking in the desert was Chief.

Maybe Lasky drops him off or something with Halsey or whatever. I’m just spitballing. I’ve got nothing to go by.
It has got to be the Ark. The only thing I would question is the appearance and location of the “resource moon” in the sky. Though it’s possible it’s now free-floating above the Ark after it got damaged, or it just looks closer.
As for getting to the Portal, it’s possible he just went through on the Infinity or some other ship. I don’t think he had to sneak his way there. His cracked visor could just be from a bad landing on the Ark, or purely symbolic. Who knows if he’ll even be wearing his old MK VI in the final game? Him taking it off at the end of Halo 4 made it seem like he wouldnt be putting it back on anytime soon. pluss, the Mk. VII already exists and should be given to John. The cloak was most Likely just to conceal his identity for the reveal trailer.

Humanity has found a way to turn it back on. The Rubicon did find Chakas/343 there.

Even if MC knew how to turn on The Ark he must of known that Oni had to of had people there and it still raises a question on how MC would get into the portal. It is slipspace Forerunner or not its goes outside out galaxy he must of use some sort of star ship otherwise he would be ripped into pieces. I doubt Lasky did him a favor and betrayed the UNSC for him. So somehow he found the codes, stole a ship and flew into The Ark for a hunch for unknown reasons. Thats the best way to say he got in The Ark without it being awkward. If thats true then MC had to of killed alot of UNSC personnel and interrogated alot of people to find out that code.
Seems to me that the big guy isn’t the good guy anymore and if he is doing all of this only for Cortana then…OMG no. Another Cortana could be made and she would be better than the last because not only would she just have all of her abilities impromved by modern tech but the tactics and info that Cortana found out could easily be uploaded into the new one. Not only would this new Cortana be NOT CRAZY but she would be like how she was in Halo CE and in First Strike. Cruel and deadly, IMO thats they way A.I. should be. Emotions can be fun off the battlefield for sure but when we get there I want game not crying…its just awkward.

He can’t be being hunted otherwise it would be dark outside when he was in the desert. Any military trained soldier knows to never move out in the day if under assault. You hunker down in a dune wait until it starts to get dark then move out. Being cold is better than being hot, being cold you don’t need to guzzle resources and the dark desert night shields you.
Also why would he even were his armor knowing that it would be easier if he were to be found that way. Can’t Oni track Spartan armor and if he removed all the internal systems wouldn’t make much sense because last i checked didn’t major in Sci-Fi technology.

It may not be the ark from halo 3, it might be one of the other arks. That would explain a different looking resource moon, or it could be something new entirely. We really have no info right now.
Maybe chief decided to try and be more human and start shopping for new clothes and the only thing that was in his size was that poncho. I probably should have put that in a spoiler text right?
In all honesty, I have no idea why he is wearing that thing or who he is hiding from. Time will tell.
