They’re one of few arena shooters left. Of course they are going to be similar.
Doom is the grandpa of FPS. Doom is nowhere near anything like Halo other than you have a gun you shoot.

Halo killer finally here? I thought halo died a long time ago (apart from it’s die hard fan population). Not that I don’t like Halo but it’s population has been on a decline for a long time. Besides the die-hard Halo players, casual FPS gamers have went to other games like CoD and Destiny. Doom will certaintly not help the Halo population, as it looks AMAZING.

I am a multi-FPS gamer. I know a lot of Halo players can be too cool for other shooters but I am not one of them. I play CoD frequently as well as Halo. I enjoy them both and cannot wait to enjoy Doom when it comes out.
doom does look a little similar to halo but its not made by 343 so there’s nothing in doom that’s directly from halo other than the little look
It looks very Halo to me. Heck, it looks more like Halo than it does Doom. But hey, I’ll wait and see how it plays.
Aesthetically it does look similar to Halo (although much more violent and dark), although they are both about space marines so it makes sense. Doom has had a huge influence on FPS’s in general and because of some basic similarities it’s bound to have some things in common with Halo, especially since they are incorporating some more modern FPS elements like Halo has been doing recently.
I know there are some Doom fans out there, but Doom will not kill or touch H5. The H5 MP, to me is just the best current gen FPS MP out there period.

Subjective statement is very subjective. We’ll have to see, but if the population numbers of DOOM is higher than Halo 5 after a good while, then something must be either right with DOOM or wrong with Halo 5.
Keep in mind that the multiplayer portion of DOOM is being worked on by Certain Affinity. That might explain some of the Halo influence.

Played the original I don’t think I saw that at all. But maybe thats just me lol Doom was always pure chaos and fun but not team work competitive back in the day like halo so idk thats just my thought

Funny you say that. I was in Gamestop getting my Beta code and the employee and I were talking about the same exact thing. Very Halo-esque elements in the gameplay.
Yes, the multiplayer does look very Halo Reach. Loadouts, power ups, heck even the movement speed is surprisingly similar. I think I’ll just wait till Toxikk gets a community if I want to play a new classic arena multiplayer game.

Doom, Quake and Unreal were all the biggest contributers to what makes FPS what it is today. And being that Doom was one of the originals, in the modern time of FPS games it’s obvious they will have to update they way it plays to compete with what we have like Halo and COD. While I would love for them to bring their original style back I’m sure with the new generation of gamers who’ve probably never even heard of Doom, Quake or Unreal it would not appeal to them since theyre so used to the games of today. Whether it’s similar or not it’s understandable. It’s a growing competing market and like I said while I loved their style. To keep up they have to modernise. But it does look amazing and I’m very excited for the release. Now if they would just bring back another Quake Arena. And hopefully Unreal doesn’t disappoint again like they did with UT 3. UT2k4 was the best. They need another 2k4. Okay rambling over
