and i support join in progress, i think the quit ban needs to go though, if anyone whines about join in progress, just leave the match once you join, let someone else who just wants to get into a quick game and shoot stuff play instead, what is there to lose? (except for the quit ban which should be removed, stupid idea).
anyways i respect rage quitters because if you don’t want to play, or you’re getting angry, just stop playing, someone will replace you with join in progress anyways, i’d rather wait for someone who actually trys to co-ordinate than someone who flat out gives up/betrays/flames people.
and face it, when you get frustrated, you don’t play well, the quit ban punishes people for being mature instead of getting pissed off at everyone.

The best solution for JIP is to just make it so you can disables it if you so choose. The consequence would be the potential of longer match times.
I very rarely get put into a game already in progress. It’s probably because I don’t search alone. If my friends aren’t on I don’t play. I play something else or do something else until they are.
I agree, JIP + Quit punishment is rediculous.
Besides, JIP needs fixing anyway, I’ve joined so many matches that have ended within a minute of me joining. What happened to this ‘System that won’t allow you to JIP a game that’s close to ending’?

i think that’s a good idea
I have no idea what happened but my last game(s) I played there was two minutes left in a CTF game. There was a little lag but my team wasn’t winning. We went to the stats screen and it said “starting game” for about a minute. When it finally came back up, the game stops and I’m at the “looking for players” screen and a vote goes to another map. WTF?! I didn’t get any credit for the previous game and didn’t even have the option of backing out.
SO…WTF is with sometimes going into another vote midgame?

this is kinda off topic, sorry the game ended for you though.

You lagged out. It happens.
Yeah dude I kinda agree. I am actually a fan of join in progress because of everyone that quits. I mean it happened sometimes in 3 but by Reach I seriously could not play one game without at least 1 or 2 people quitting. I was so sick of either having to go 1 on 4 or be on the big team trying to find the 1 guy left. People get mad because they think it puts people on uneven ground but honestly I think that any cons that come from joining midgame are really outdone by the pros of actually having complete matches. The quitting was getting ridiculous by Reach.

I guess I meant to say the JIP saw that my first game “lagged out” then it forced me into the 2nd game instead of just ending it. :-/ I would have quit the 2nd game because of my crappy randoms I was teamed with but then I would have wasted the last 20 minutes of play. So I opted to finish the game and get some XP.
I always felt the best solution to JIP would be to limit it to the first couple of minutes in a game/ within the first 10 kills. That way if someone joins a game and are on the losing team, there’s a good chance for them to come back as it’s still VERY early.
Not sure if that’s possible though, just a thought.
I had three games in row today where I was JIP.
I went 9-9-6, then 13-6-6, and then finally 10-9-3. Needless to say our team still got our own -Yoink- handed to it.
I wasn’t fond of JIP today. I do understand why it is in place, but sometimes it can be super frustrating.
Join In Progress should be turn off-able but only be able to join matches that are less than twenty or fifty percent complete as for Free For All games, they should be off.
I am sorry but I completely disagree with the OP. I believe the quit ban isn’t enough. If you are getting owned and you quit how are you going to ever get any better. Playing with lesser or equal skilled players will never increase your skill. Finish the match, go back to theater mode and watch the people as to what they did and learn from it.
I rage quit this morning because I was with a group of quitters that were holding their own as a group but then decided to bail and leave everyone. This happened 3-4 time in about 6 matches. I hardly ever quit a match and for me to rage quit is something very much not like me. I don’t think I have quit 100 matches for Halo 3, Halo Reach, or Halo 4 combined.
I say a 24 hour quit ban in that playlist you just quit out of. This would apply to only habitual quitters of course, an occasional quit would yield no punishment. I would say less than 5 per week would be fair.
So other than the arguement that you should just grow a pair and deal with it, join in progress doesn’t always work and you’re now in a 3v4.

Exactly. If you’re angry, you’re not going to play as well anyway.
