I Respect 343 for Not Doing a Beta.

While I know a lot of you are disappointed with us not having a Beta, I actually have quite a bit of respect for 343 not doing one. These days, the word “Beta” is usually more akin to “Pre-release Demo”, and hardly anything gets changed in a console beta. Players expect things to change, and when they don’t, there’s even more outrage.

I think 343 realized that if they did a Beta now, there really wouldn’t be much change to the game, and that taking the time to make a Beta build would put them behind schedule and really accomplish nothing more than giving us a demo.

In a console generation where “beta” means “demo”, I appreciate that 343 said “Sorry guys, we aren’t going to change much, and we aren’t going to lie to you by giving you a ‘Beta’ that isn’t anything more than a glorified demo.”

While I still think they should have planned for an actual public beta, at least they aren’t lying to us about it for publicity.

I agree.

I have to respect them for it too. Take the month and use it for developing the game. Also, if they released a beta all people would do is complain about it. As much as I’d love to get my hands on Halo 4 early, I’d sooner save it for release and not have everything watered down.

Franky said they’re still doing a “Closed Beta” of it.

While I would’ve liked an actual Beta like Halo 3’s, I wouldn’t want the suspense to be ruined with a demo like Reach’s.

No beta doesn’t really bother me, I’m sure they may have on for 5 or 6 but it makes 4 seem that much more interesting and in a way frees them up in polishing their idea for the multiplayer direction.

Though it may also make these forums an inevitable fire storm after launch…(Bound to happen anyhow, will just come fast.)

I agree, but it would still help the vocal community to voice they’re opinion on change. So that they wouldn’t be forced to patch it with TU latter, but since it’s expensive to create a beta it’s completely understandable on my part that they would rather not sacrifice the development process because of it.

After all, a beta is generally seen as a demo, by Halo’s non-vocal community. That represent at least 70% of it’s customers, in my opinion.

I sure as hell don’t.

They could easily push it back and give us time to preview the game, but they’re just so focused on maximizing sales during the Christmas 2012 season. The only REAL reason we aren’t getting a beta is because 343 are greedy, know they have a subpar game and don’t want everyone to spend four months shouting about how much it sucked ala REACH.

I WAZ RITE!!! PERKS RUIND DA GAEM!
CALL OF HALO MODERN REACH 2
HALO DEAD, 343 BAD PEOPLE.
ITS NOT EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED, COMPLAIN COMPLAIN!

And so on and so forth.

A Beta would only help 343 gain important information to help make the final release. But, you all chose to worship the ground they walk on.

I made this same conclusion a long time ago. I said the same thing, that I respect them not doing a beta, because it would interfere with the progress of them finishing the game, polishing or watev. As long as they are working hard on the game, which they are.

While I agree that most of the kiddies on this forum worship 343, I don’t agree with what you have to say. If you think that a beta will help the game then you are very wrong. People say that they want a beta because it will “benefit” the game, but really they’re impatient and they just want to play the game early… Kinda like you

I agree.

With the Beta on Reach, a lot of people complained with things that got changed for the worse, even the little things such as Invasion colours. I know things got changed for the better with is the point of a Beta but I heard a lot more complaining. (Maybe it’s just this community) I get the impression if we had a beta for Halo 4, people would just complain when things get changed anyway, nothing is going to be perfect for every player but 343i will do a good job with the amount of time they have had.

If people do not know what was in place before then they have no change to complain about.
