When I entered halo infinite I did something I had never done before and will never do again. I purchased the premium battle pass. I figured that since the game was free, spending 10$ to get decent progression was a reasonable price and well worth my money. I understand that as a free to play game, paying for a feature like progression is a reasonable charge. What isn’t reasonable is just how much is locked away even for those who pay for those features. I spent 70$ on infinite, more then the price of most aaa titles, and I was sorely disappointed.
Since then, I have seen as every piece of armor from reach I looked forward to unlocking show up in the store for double the price I paid. As more armors come out that are store only while the battle pass continues to stagnate, and every level I get has me unlocking challenge swaps and the same emblem I don’t want over and over, it becomes more and more apparent that I didn’t get my moneys worth. I paid for a preview of the halo infinite customization system, where full prices comes in at 45$ a week. This is the last time I will spend money on a microtransaction system. I hope I’m not alone.
They need to stop putting entire armor sets behind the store pay wall, and just put the premium version of the armor in the store.
Like, give us things like the basic Anubis armor through free progression or the regular battle pass. But also include a “cool” version in the store for purchase. Like the store could have one with a lot of battle scars and cracked visor. Or one with a bulkier (or leaner) silhouette.
Entire armor lines have no busines being locked behind only the store pay wall. Basic versions of all previously released Halo armor should be available at least in the $10 BP progression, if not free. And then the store just should have extra premium versions of those armors.
Its the worst isn’t it?! Literally reach has all of its items for free in mcc, but with this bull its *literally 30 dollars if you want every customizable piece for every set so its just gonna be a cash sink for all the customizer fans
yeah I bought the pass day 1 and finished levelling it to 100 today, and feel a bit let down. I think that everything I got from the pass for the money was fine, I see it as a fair deal, but its the fact that the only customisation I can get for my reach armour now is coatings and visors which cost real money…
1000 credits for a battle pass is good, but 2000 credits for a bundle just to be able to use a new coating is crazy. they are also cheeky with how they list bundles for 700 credits so that you have to buy 1000 credits to get it (I won’t spend money other than battle passes).
all the coating unlocks from the campaign (and most likely from all weekly rewards) are for mark VII and not mark V, so now I feel like I should just jump back into mark VII armour instead, and my mark V just feels like its a “free trial” armour set that I need to throw more money at, even though I already paid for it.
the REACH THEMED BP doesn’t have all of the Reach armor… instead they put the rest behind a SEPERATE PAYWAL. i’d be accepting of the bp… if all of reach’s stuff was in the reach themed bp. and they can have all of reach’s armor in a bp, look at the first season of mcc. remove firefight voices and elites, and armor effects. they would have plent of room for mk7 armor, maybe a aunti dot ai, challenge swaps etc… but no, they chose to bloat it and do something that costs more money -v-
It should somewhat. There’s nothing wrong with ragging on 343’s systems that are real cruddy, but there are some things that should get credit where credit is due.
The BP not expiring is a huge benefit compared to other games BP’s, even if a lot of the other monetization systems suck
As in it doesn’t make me feel better. My progression is still unsatisfying with the vast majority of what I paid for locked behind a paywall in a greedy replication of the mobile game formula. The system is literally designed to be psychologically unrewarding without a payout.
I don’t ever pre-order, buy battle passes, seasons, etc… or have expectations from any company these days. They think there is nothing wrong with having the player base pay more for less.
I definitely relate to this- down to the fact that this was my first time spending real money on some digital currency or in-game transaction. I have big time buyer’s remorse for the BP and won’t be spending any more money on this game; I feel like I got scammed and had my good faith taken advantage of, honestly.
