The first time I saw a Spartan go into armor lock and destroyed a ghost that was trying to splatter him; I thought that was the coolest thing.
Armor lock was so fun to use and I thought it made for interesting gameplay and team work.
The people that complain about it stallimg gameplay because they stupidly sit there staring at the guy in armor lock are just dumb. It was always your own fault sitting there staring at the armor lock guy that you died instead if moving on or killing the armor locks team mates.
I loved Armor Lock, it would even make sense from a lore stand point, with all this other crazy crap Spartans can do. Hold melee while on the ground to activate Armor Lock, damn that has a nice ring to it.

This. It was fun if the player used it, but it absolutely murdered vehicle gameplay in BTB.
We don’t need another way to combat vehicles other than the paper-thin armor and the always-effective teamshooting. Invincibility buttons are also a big no-no in balance.
I started Reach MP using armor lock almost exclusively. It was the best troll ability in the game. Someone on a ghost think they are going to splatter you in the wide open… Nope. Rocket bearing down on you… nope deflected right back at the shooter (Looney Tunes style) Sword lunging at you… nope emp on release and punch them in the face.
If you don’t have the skills to win, you can at least make it a pain for the other team.
Then I switched to sprint so I could get places. I had fun either way.

to be fair, before 343 had to touch the game it was the sweetest damn thing to deflect the sword with a regular melee and then pull off a nice headshot to the camping sword bearer.
I don’t know what everyone’s deal with armor lock is, it’s easy to kill the user. Just keep your guard up then kill him when it runs out. Have your teammates come help you if you can’t handle that.
Ain’t rocket science, not unless you include SPNKR
It should lock your armor in the sense that you get locked out of it. You are then forced to run in the cold to the Red base, where it is always kept at a warm 76 degrees Fahrenheit.
