I’m going to be seriously disappointed if Halo 5: Guardians doesn’t have Firefight. Since Halo 3: ODST, Firefight has felt like an essential part of Halo, a single-player/co-op alternative to multiplayer for those who prefer PvE to PvP. I especially loved Firefight in Halo: Reach, with the wealth of customization options that made it infinitely replayable.
With Firefight, there’s still a lot of room for improvement; I would love to see a Firefight Heavies variant with lots of heavy vehicles like the Scorpion, Gauss 'Hog, Mantis, and Hornet, and lots of enemy vehicles to destroy… Ghosts, Wraiths, Banshees, maybe even Scarabs; something emulative of the huge vehicle battles we saw in the Halo 3 Campaign, like on The Ark and The Covenant.
Firefight could also make use of the new squad command feature; maybe have a squad of AI Spartans dropped into the mix whenever you’re playing solo. Remember Installation 04 in Halo: Reach? I loved that map, having friendly AI to trade weapons with or have jump in the Warthog or Mongoose.
I’m holding my breath, hoping that 343i will reveal Firefight 3.0 for Halo 5: Guardians. My worst fear at this point is that there will be no single-player/co-op game mode beyond Campaign at all.
This has been posted in multiple threads before, and I don’t mean 1, or 2, or even 3. I mean like TENS of them. Come on, let’s stop reporting the same thing over and over.
excuse me but whats the point in having firefight after reach?
I can answer that for you. Prometheans. covies. and flood. All in one B)
I would rather them release that as an expansion and give it us free because of the MCC, or just 5 bucks. its cool they dont have another thing to focus on, i guess.
I mean, I totally agree with you, but it’s not like we haven’t talked about this before. If they haven’t already put it in the game I would highly doubt that it would be in there at release.

Sorry, I’ve been absent from the Halo forums for a while… but Firefight is no little deal. Halo 5: Guardians needs to have variety; not just a lot of different game modes for competitive multiplayer, but it also must have some form of single-player/co-op mode outside of Campaign. Firefight is what we really need; Spartan Ops didn’t quite fill that vital niche in Halo 4, and it’s one of the main reasons I stopped playing that game. The missions were repetitive, there were no customizations options, no skulls, no scoring, no Theater… there was little reason to play aside from the story, and for that you could just watch the cutscenes.
Would be great, more so if Firefight also used the squad AI from Campaign.
What I’m thinking is this new mode is mass mode it’ll have all vehicles and weapons from all halos that’s what they meant by all parts of the halo sand box. This might mean you can play solo with an army of ai 25v25v25v25 you choose which faction there would be flood UNSC forerunner and covenant the covenant would be preschism, current, and post schism. These are my hopes it would act like a giant war mode with vehicles with hopefully ai to play offline or online If missing players on one match.

Completely agree. I love PvP but sometimes I wanna relax bit and just fight some npc co-op style (I consider campaign single player experience). Having something for single player, co-op and PvP is what I’m expecting for all major halo titles. Otherwise this huge step backwards IMO. Also never though of the squad commands. That would be so awesome for firefight.

Um…correct me if I’m wrong but how many anti sprint threads are there? How many playable elite threads are there? Come on dude firefight is hardly ever discussed in the community. This guy is voicing his opinion because firefight is a mode that is not talked about much. Some firefight threads are lucky if they get past 2 pages because no one bothers to post their ideas about firefight and that’s why these threads keep getting made.
On topic firefight should and has to return!!! It is a fantastic game mode and given the amount of time 343i has had to work on this game, they should have obviously had enough time. It is for the casual gamers who just wanna shoot covenant or possibly prometheans without having to go through objectives. It’s also for the gamers who just don’t wanna play multiplayer or gamers without Xbox LIVE. I used to be one of these people during halo reach days. No Xbox LIVE. All I had was campaign and firefight. It was amazing. Even after I got LIVE I still found myself playing firefight because it is such a superb game mode that could be customized to anyone’s liking for that much better of an experience.
343i has a great opportunity here to create an awesome firefight experience for the community. Given the new rank of prometheans along with English speaking covies again we’ve seen along with squad gameplay and the variety of weapons…they have a chance to make firefight an amazing experience for gamers in Halo 5 Guardians on Xbox one.
I truly hope 343i considers adding it in because if they don’t they’ll let down a lot of gamers. We can’t have another halo 4. Campaign was great but spartan ops didn’t have the feel to it firefight did. The multiplayer is fun in halo 5 don’t get me wrong but firefight is another mode that is up there for me along with a lot of others.
Let’s just hope 343i has listened to us on this one…
I have a feeling this new mode their planning to unveil could either be an alternative to or a variation of firefight. What else would use all elements of the Halo sandbox?

i agree with this, I think they will have something even better than firefight in halo 5.

Hopefully it is classic firefight with another larger scale variation

This, this, and more of this!
I don’t see why they wouldn’t include firefight.
Well, Spartan Ops is more-than-likely not going to be in Halo 5. Its entire story arc is being wrapped up completely in Escalation.
Because of this, I’m betting Halo 5 will have Firefight.
I think the new mode will be like an upgraded version on far bigger maps with more players, hundreds of ai, flying vehicles, etc

343i has made stupid decisions in the past. Look at Halo 4.
