I heard that they were going back to a Halo 1, 2, 3, Reach, Wars, Wars 2 artstyle for Halo Infinite, which is good, but I hope they still keep the new vehicle designs, especially the post- Covenant vehicle designs.
I’d honestly prefer the hw2 wraith over the h5 wraith and the h3 scorpion but the rest of the vehicles I understand. A new design for the phaeton might be really interesting to see.
I definitely like the new warthog style and the mongoose/gungoose are pretty cool. But some of the old stuff was better. I prefer the older banshees, for example, and definitely the H3 wraith and scorpion. So, as with many things, a little bit of both is best.
Hw2 has the best scorpion design imo. I dont like the classic design that much tbh but halo 5s is worse. Hw2 somehow blends the two into one thats really cool. If not hw2 then id go with halo 3s.
I‘m a fan of all the new designs except the new Scorpion. It leans too far on the generic side now. While the new Wraith is drastically different, at least it looks unique and its design and purpose go hand in hand. Admittedly, I like the Halo 4 design a bit more because the Halo 5 one reminds me of a shoe sometimes.
I’m not a fan of a lot of the modern vehicle redesigns, especially the wraith. But if you like them I think you’ll be at least somewhat satisfied. In the engine trailer the warthog looks to be of the modern design so I’m sure there’ll be other vehicles that are closer to modern than classic.
The reason is the new Covenant vehicle designs are Sangheili based (and Unggoy, for the Goblin), and it would make NO sense to go back to the older designs. The Covenant Remnant/ Swords Of Sangheilios vehicle design represent both factions no longer being held back by the rules of the San 'Shyuum and instead being able to design their own. UNSC vehicles, I dont have much of a opinion on.
I dont lioe the new weapon and characters desgin, but i agree that the vehicules (espacillay the non-humans) looks really good
I think the best of both worlds would be to have BOTH versions in the game, with the Banished using older designs and the Swords Of Sangheilos using the newer designs.
I honestly would love to see a mix of designs. I’ve always loved the way the vehicles looked in Halo 3 and Reach (especially the pelicans). Take halo 5’s warzone systems for example, When you want to spawn a vehicle, lets say a pelican (since it would be easier to explain than any other vehicle), you have Halo 3’s pelican as a troop transport. That means no weapons except a rear chain gun. Then you have halo 4/5’s pelican that you could spawn. It, along with 343’s design, would have weapons such as the side and front guns and the tank turret on top; with the ability to boost. But, you know, apply that to most vehicles. (Not a so discreet hint at me wanting flyable pelicans in Halo Infinite)
I never liked the look of the redesigned vehicles. The new versions of the Warthog, Mongoose and Scorpion are overly beefed up with unnecessary pieces stuck all over them. They no longer look like their unique, graceful and (dare I say it) iconic Halo designs. Regarding the new Covenant vehicles, I’d be fine if they appeared again alongside the classic designs but not on their own. They look, sound and feel a little too unfamiliar, as if from a fictional universe other than Halo’s (i.e. the MCU, Mass Effect or something else).
My thoughts on the Halo 5 vehicle designs:
- Scorpion is a too thicc Modern Tactical MBT and reminds me of a Mammoth Tank. - Warthog be lookin fine, but use the one from Forza, that rollcage mounted light looks awesome. - Mongoose is literally a golf cart now, bring back the foldable cargo rack like H3/Reach. - Wasp could perform more like an attack helicopter. You seen them swoop? - HW2 did gud balancing Pelican designs, old style for transportation and new style for the gunships. - Frigate from H3 literally evolved into the Pillar of Autumn between H3 and H4. O.o - Wraith looks sorta fine, but where does the recoil from the plasma mortar go? - Ghost is fine except for the fact that the driver looks through binoculars, but in games developed by Bungie they actually had a display so you could see where you where driving. - Banshee is fine, it sorta shows how the other religious groups lower in popularity than the Covenant truly didn’t have the best tech. Halo 5 banshee has same wing system has Halo Reach banshees do. - Phantoms are probably the finest bois, they look like an underwater thingo straight outta Subnautica, which is good and makes em look alien! - Spirits can uh, go back to having doors instead of 40 fingers ok? - Phaetons look fine, but what else would they look like?
I understand why some changes can be backed by lore but cmon, the entire look of the game has changed drastically. Some vehicles and weapons are barely recognizable (Magnum, BR, Wraith, elites, mjolnir armor) just a few examples. Halo has a defining look/artsyle, and if that is changed to too high of a degree then what makes it halo? I don’t hate all of the new designs but some of them need to be revamped. If you really need to defend why the game doesn’t look like halo anymore by referencing some obscure lore that not everyone cares about then that highlights the issue even more.

I think instead of shadows you mean spirits
A number of the ‘new’ designs are absolute rubbish. The Pelican is the biggest offender here, I don’t want a Fisher-Price toy in a Halo game, just looking at it makes me gag- don’t know what 343 was thinking when they designed that and the way the marines look. Cannot possibly understate how terrible they are.
I think they should go back i really disliked the design for the modern wraith makes it look like a chair for a giant

Actually, it’s cockpit reminds me of a Russian Mi-24 Hind Helicopter Gunship.
. Also, thanks TANKSLAP
I would vastly prefer at least the old scorpion (or the HW2 one) and the old Pelican as I especially hate both of those redesigns. I could either way on most of the others.
I think we can all agree the new warthog is probably gonna be in infinite right? It seems to be the most accepted change in look to the point of no one ever mentioning it really. It is just a Warthog. Also 343 seems to be using it in everything and it’s even in H2A so…
I’m mostly indifferent here. I don’t hate the new designs for a lot of the vehicles but at the same time I don’t feel that most of the changes were necessary. Instead of changing how existing things look, keep those models and then just make all new vehicles instead.
Overall though, I mostly prefer the older/HW2 design of things.
