I really hope Halo 5 exceeds expectations...

The amount of anticipation I had for Halo 4 was very high. I had been waiting 3-4 years for this game to release. I finally got it on release day, and while I was playing, I was overjoyed, of course; I loved it. I wish it had more offline value, but that’s not a huge problem to me.

The campaign was one of the best in the franchise, but it could have been better. I still think Halo 3 had the best campaign. Spartan Ops was an interesting addition. It shouldn’t have replaced Firefight, but I loved the story, and watching the episodes.

The Multi-player was fun at first, but over the course of time, it just got ridiculous. A lot of core Halo mechanics & components were left out. There’s a lot of things that make that game very unbalanced, and there’s barely any competitive play. I don’t think I need to say more on this matter due to the many posts on the forums that show Halo 4’s mistakes & flaws in the MP. I will still enjoy the MP to an extent, but I’m not 100% on it.

For 343’s first game, I’d say they did a pretty good job. I really can’t deny that they did. The MP is a HUGE aspect for Halo; Halo 4’s MP needs major improvements, but I don’t know if it’s too late for that. It’s sad that the population has dropped dramatically, and that many people have completely given up on this game, including 343. Halo 5 seriously needs to crush Halo 4 under its feet. 343 has SO MUCH to prove to everyone that they can keep the Halo franchise alive and well. If they fail on Halo 5, then I’m going to rent the game just for the campaign. Still, I have faith in 343 that they will blow me away with Halo 5. I love Halo!!! I’ve been playing since Halo 2. I don’t want to see this franchise die :frowning:

The expectations of the Halo fandom exceed comprehension. It is impossible for anybody to exceed their expectations.

No not really. If its impossible too meet the expectations of having core halo gameplay in tact and not destroyed then we have bigger problems.

Since the game comes out on the next gen console, I’m sure the possibilities of satisfying more customers are higher.

Exactly. I have faith that 343 will meet our expectations for Halo 5, AND do some things that would make the game more enjoyable. If they don’t do that, then bigger problems will definitely await us.

After H4 my expectations are very low. So it’s likely that Halo 5 will exceed my expectations, but that doesn’t mean I’ll like the game.

Expectations are different from visions. You’re referring to a vision. I could envision a Halo 5 that has exactly what I want, but do I expect it to be this way? No. Usually expectations are more realistic. The OP is just hoping that the game will be even better than he may expect it to be.

Well depending on who you talk to expectations for Halo 5 are low, so 343i might pass them. I on the other hand actually like and enjoy Halo 4 so my expeditions are high, but not so high that they can’t be met.

I don’t think there’s that much to please the community, if they added all old features then we would all be very pleased. Granted we would want new additions (which we would inevitably argue over) but they are not too extreme, and i hope when the nextbox is released, they will have the capability to cater for the majority of the community once again.

I understand that a lot of people think that Halo 5 will be just as bad or worse, but we can’t really say that based on Halo 4 or a first impression, right? I think the future of the franchise is in Halo 5. If Halo 5 does good or waaaaaay better than Halo 4 & Reach, then I think we can rest easy. If it does bad, then the franchise is definitely doomed. I honestly think that people shouldn’t lose all hope in the franchise just yet…

What will save halo 5 is the next-box, Halo has outgrown the 360 and its starting to show.

I’d say that’s only part of the problem. The major problem is the quality of Halo 4.

Halo 5 exceeding expectations all depends on what your expectations are. Keep expectations low and they would be a lot easier to exceed.

I expect Halo 5 to be better than Halo 4 & Reach combined. I also expect that Halo 5 will return to Halo’s roots. I would say those are reasonable expectations.

What if Halo 5 does succeed over the first trilogy?

Well if you don’t want to be disaapointed, don’t make any expectations. When you watch all the trailers and read all the info that gets released before the game does, you basically know everything new about the game. Sure you find a few things here and there that weren’t mentioned, but as a whole, you knew what to expect.

And that’s what makes the flaws stick out, because you don’t know about them, so they stick out the most. I didn’t know anything about Halo 4 except that it had Master Chief and it would include more Forerunner stuff. That’s it. And the only thing’s I don’t like about the game are that the DMR is too perfect, and has no drawbacks like the other rifles, and that there is no Good Connection search option.

Other than those two things, I really enjoy Halo 4. So if you don’t like Halo 4, just try it, don’t research any information at all about Halo 5. Maybe don’t even pick up Halo 5 on release if you are that unsure about it. That way you can experience everything firsthand, it makes the experience that much better. For example, you wouldn’t believe how excited I was when I found I was able to use Forerunner weaponry, I was just shooting random things just to check them out.

I expect that you’ll be disappointed. They’ve made it pretty clear which direction their going at that recent panel.

I wonder when they will create the Halo 5 forum. I wonder why they haven’t yet. They would more than likely get some valuable feedback. It takes around 5 minutes to create an extra forum, if that.
