I really hope exuberant witness has a good role

Hands down the best new character introduced to Halo by 343 is the pink monitor Exuberant Witness. Her lines, voice acting, functionality, and just overall charm was, in my opinion, on the same level as 343 Guilty Spark. As bland as some of the Halo 5 story was, one of the best things about it was her.

The way I see it, she is a representation of what modern Halo storytelling needs: She’s a reminiscent figure that represents a character from the Bungie Halos (Guilty Spark), while at the same time being a fresh and new character that has her own unique personality and function. That is something that can’t be said about other new characters that just don’t live up to the stature that older characters like Sgt. Johnson, Captain Keyes, and even Foehammer were.

Another problem with modern Halo characters is that there is just so many characters. In Halo 5, there are just so many people in the game that you don’t really have a reason to get attached to any of them because their either not used very much or are just kept simple for the sake of keeping the story trimmed down.

However, when you consider Exuberant Witness, she’s a helpful monitor with a very spunky and funny personality and she helps you throughout the duration of when you meet. Whereas someone like Tanaka might just become a nuance by either getting killed constantly, wandering around aimlessly, or just standing still doing nothing while you need to be revived.

TL;DR: Exuberant is a great character and I really hope her potential doesn’t get wasted in Halo Infinite.

Halo 5’s story was so complicated and filled with characters that I honestly hardly remember Exuberant Witness.

Exuberant Witness was definitely a highlight of H5 for me. She’s obviously no friend to Cortana, so perhaps she could take on a less duplicitous version of Guilty Sparks role and be an ally to humanity and the SOS

She remained behind on Genesis in “Bad Blood” so I don’t see this as being likely - though I certainly hope she does contribute in some way or form. Maybe we drop by Genesis again, or she finds a way to contact us, etc.

I do hope that Guilty Spark - or just “Spark” now - shows up. After Halo: Renegades I really, REALLY need to see him again T_T Particularly John’s reaction to that, given they didn’t exactly part on the best of terms, That being said, he’s probably going to remain in the novels, sigh~

I don’t see her having a role unless the story takes us back to Genesis. As Genesis’s monitor, she has to stay there. She’s a dutiful monitor; it wouldn’t be in her character to abandon her installation.

It’s possible she could be captured by Cortana, or, like Guilty Spark, leave her installation after it is destroyed. I’m mostly grasping at straws here but there’s so many story possibilities for Infinite I wouldn’t rule anything out.

the point is she’s a great character, and honestly it would be a complete waste to have her in only Halo 5. Whether it makes sense or not, it would only benefit the game to include her again.

here’s two choices they have:

  1. Exclude her from the game because apparently canon only applies to certain aspects of Halo, and in this case it means leaving out one of the best characters in 343’s Halo.
  2. Include her from the game because more than 95% of people who play Halo campaigns only care about a good story with good characters that are well written and likable, like Exuberant.

I think the choice is obvious, just like the choice was obvious to bring back the old art style even tho it makes absolutely no sense and was clearly done because it will make the game better.

I agree, she was one if the good things to come out of H5.

I doubt Genesis will be a relevant location in Infinite. So by proxy she won’t be relevant either.

one of the few good things, really. They’re best bet is to just roll with it and include her in Infinite because she is already liked and her character is accepted. That cannot be said about certain characters in the 343 Halo games that continue to reappear any chance they get with more and more screen time regardless that the majority of the fan-base just doesn’t like them cough Palmer cough

If some lame, mundane character gets an unprecedented of coverage in Halo Infinite and Exuberant is left out due to “canon” reasons, I’ll have lost all faith in proper storytelling thereon.
