As I was reading the odyssey, I realized there is one god named Helios and you want to know why I am bringing this up. ELITES. Their species being called Sangheili and their world called Sanghelios. As I look at this the first word Sanghelios is Sang which is another term for sing. So together these words would translated as the sang sun since Sangheilos is a desert like world and there always SOMEONE singing a poem of Palmer. I clear my case.

You know, Sanghelios actually can’t have a red sky canonically. A red sky means that the atmosphere is carbon dioxide based, and carbon dioxide is poisonous to most humanoid life forms, including Sangheili.

The atmosphere on Mars is carbon dioxide based and has a red sky. Earth’s atmosphere is a Nitrogen-Oxygen compound so our sky is light blue. Nebulae have various colors due to the different gasses in them. CO2 is red, Oxygen is green, and Nitrogen is blue I believe.

Well if Elites can see infrared then yeah the sky would most certainly appear red.
