I read that 343 is removing the snipers playlist?

Is this true? are they removing the ranked snipers playlist?
I haven’t played it much in a while but I know their are a lot of people that still do and since they removed shotty snipes and with all the backlash that 343 got from that decision I find it hard to believe that they’d remove another playlist? I don’t understand, even if there is a population shortage (which I won’t believe until I see some numbers because shotty snipes definitely had a lot of people playing), they still shouldn’t just disregard all of the people who like to play it. Sure you can play it in customs but the browser gets laggy a lot of times and what if we want to play it competitively?
I never saw playlists so carelessly handled.
All of the original playlists are still available on Halo: Reach and that game is nearly 7 years old. and there is a population counter so you know which ones are more popular than the others, yet they are all still there and then some.

It could have been something that someone just said in a thread randomly but if it’s true what do you think?

Snipers have always kept me busy, alongside Infection. I just don’t understand why they would rip out a popular gamemode.

They removed Shotty Snipers from Social awhile ago. As far as I know Team Snipers isn’t being removed. They did recently nerf the Hip Fire Aim Assist on Snipers in the latest patch, so that may be the source of your confusion.

If you look at your stats for the upcoming season you will notice Snipers is gone. Unfortunate that it was removed.

Yep, it’s gone. This is complete bs! First it takes them over a year to put in a ranked Snipers playlist, then they take it away after just a few months?! I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, two steps forward, one step wayyyyyy back.

Huh. Looks like there’s something called “2P Progression” in its place. Could be that it’s being adjusted and that’s a placeholder for the new version. Idk otherwise, I honestly don’t play Arena besides the 10 Swat games I play for the Season Emblem.

Apparently Team Snipers had too low population… Still… This bites a big one.

They should’ve left social snipes and removed ranked. Low population might be a thing but without the rank at least people can find games. To remove the more functional one (Social Snipes) and force everyone into the restriction of the rank on top of the low population makes no sense.

I got placed into onyx when the season started and from that point on couldn’t find games unless I was willing to blow 30+ minutes searching per game at peak hours. At least I could find games in Social Snipes.

I agree I’m a sense, but I would’ve much rather seen ranked Snipers stay. I personally see social as a waste of my time since there’s not really anything to work toward (rank). I may play a game or two of social to warm up before going into ranked, but other than that, I just don’t mess with it. So even though Snipers is by far my favorite playlist, even when social Snipers was the only option, I still never played it since I’d rather spend my time grinding toward a higher rank. Whole thing just sucks.

People who are already at that higher rank get cheated by not being able to play at all. They are totally cutting off the people that would play the playlist the most. I also prefer ranked due to map selection, 4v4 and no shotgun but at least I could find a game in shotty snipes. I’m of the opinion that if social snipes was 4v4, arena maps and no shotty it would’ve held and acceptable population.

I myself am not happy about it, but I’m sure there’s a reason behind it, and we will find that out in the weekly update coming either tonight, or tomorrow.

I apologize, this was right after I saw it had been removed and I was extremely heated. It’s just frustrating when I really do try to defend 343, but they continue to do things that seem to be against what the community wants. I shouldn’t have posted anything until I was able to think of things with a more level head. I think Boxr has some really good points on why the playlist was removed and that has helped me be a little more realistic in my thinking. Again, I apologize and will delete the post.

The population was low because IT TOOK THEM OVER A YEAR TO IMPLEMENT IT… the intended audience bailed ages ago because it was unavailable for so long… there was not a good amount of variety in H5 for a very long time, leaving only the most dedicated to the game left playing it.

I like Snipers, I like having the option to play it despite not playing it often… but they NEED to get the game in proper order for launch and stuff like this likely would not happen. Observe and implement the series benchmark(s)…

When you have a MM structure that works, fans will hold the developers to that expectation, every time.

I understand your frustration. And I try to defend 343 as well when it comes to their decisions. I always try to see both the consumer, and the producers side of things. But sometimes it’s just so difficult and doesn’t make any sense.

I’m still annoyed by not having a Social Slayer playlist. I loved having multi team, but once that was removed I didn’t know what I’d really play for smaller team based game types. I don’t really play much Arena anymore. I play mainly Firefight, Warzone, and SuperFiesta.

What really confuses me is, we wait all this time for playlists, and we get them. And the community rejoices with cheer and happiness, and then, bam. They’re removed due to low populations. Populations die over time which makes sense, it happens in every games life span, but removing things from it ultimately I feel just helps decrease player populations even more.

I’m quite surprised at the amount of playlists that are in Halo 3 still. That game is pretty empty for the amount of playlists it has. I don’t fully understand how they’ve got things set up now-a-days.

What I would propose is putting more games in a Social playlist because it’s not ranked. Because getting into a ranked playlist when you’re on the lower level tends to be a tad difficult. Thus, making wait times longer.

Halo 5 is very competitive based, so it’s hard to even enjoy a social playlist because how heavily competitive things are pushed in Halo 5. But that’s a whole 'nother topic.

I saw someone mention that the low population could be due to the playlist being put in so long after the game had launched, so those who really wanted Snipers could’ve moved on to something else by the time it was finally put in. I think that may definitely have something to do with it. Also, it seems that most of the population issues really comes into play when players reach the higher rank tiers like Onyx. I personally have never had a problem finding a game in Snipers, but my rank is usually anywhere from high gold to diamond, since most players tend to fall in those ranks, that’s not really helping those higher skilled players find games. I wish there was a way to keep it in, but help the population of the higher tiers. I don’t know how this could be done while still making sure the ranks are an accurate representation of a player’s skill.

I haven’t played Halo 3 in forever since it had become so difficult to find games, but I’m hoping that for future Halos they’ll go back to a system more like Halo 3 when it comes to adding and removing playlists. I didn’t get to play H3 when it first came out, but for as long as I’ve been familiar with the game, they put in pretty much every playlist you could possibly want in ranked and left them there. I personally think all Halos should have a certain set of ranked playlists (Slayer, FFA, Doubles, Snipers, SWAT, and a playlist of tournament maps, game types, and settings) I wouldn’t mind seeing others like an objective only playlist, multi team, etc, but I think those I mentioned should be a bare minimum and should be included at launch and should not be taken away.

I’m certain as well that the reason the population isn’t as high as it used to is because other players have moved on because certain playlists and game types weren’t in the game at launch. I’ve stuck around because I love Halo, and I want to continually play it.

If I recall correctly I believe that Halo 3 still has the original playlists available it had on launch. … I want to say there’s a total of 10-16 playlists still available on Halo 3. The game’s so dead I’m surprised nothing much has been done as far as that goes.

When 343 took over and created content for Halo Reach, they were the ones that removed some of the playlists like Squad Slayer 5v5 due to low populations. (I think) And quite honestly, despite low populations I feel like they should still remain in the game. However, I’m not sure what kind of sever resources and whatever else that ties into.

Same here. There’s definitely some things they could do better, but I still have a lot of fun playing Halo 5.

I don’t really see them doing anything further with halo 3. Which is unfortunate because I would totally still grind that game if I could find matches consistently.

I guess i missed the post where 343 mentioned taking out Snipers because this came as a complete shock to me. Had I at least known it was possibly being removed, I wouldn’t have been quite as upset. But just jumping on Halo and seeing it was gone was really frustrating. Not saying there wasn’t any warning, they’ve been doing really good with letting us know what’s in the works with the weekly update threads. I’m sure I just didn’t see it since I’ve really only started being on here pretty consistently for the last couple weeks and haven’t dug too deep through past threads.

Why do they keep removing playlist ?

With Shotty Snipers removed from the playlist, I find Halo 5 simply boring.

How is this thread still alive?
