I agree, all store prices need to be cut in half, and I don’t mean a 50% off sale, I mean the base prices need to come down halfway, and then they can still have sales for 15-20% off then.
Problem is people are already buying multiple items. Like multiple actually doesnt even sound like it describes the amount accurately.
And they’re good with it cause at these prices they are a lot rarer and unique than if they were $5 which is imo what these bundles are worth.
For $20 I want a brand new armor core with a mini battlepass like the fracture event samurai armor. And a hell of a lot more customizables than what’s in that pass
I on the other hand, will only bother buying ANYTHING in the shop if they were freely customizable.
Me: OMG a cool Helmet!
It’s for MK7
Me: Okay nevermind then
Yeah, the store prices need to see a significant reduction. $20 for one armor set, color, visor, and nameplate is really ridiculous.
Honestly if things weren’t as expensive and challenges supplemented gaining levels in the season pass and didn’t feel absolutely necessary I would be fine with how progression works in this game, plus a few other tweaks.
Problem is the prices really aren’t as out of step as people make them out to be. Compared to Halo as a franchise, the pricing is obscene cause we’ve never had to pay for things piecemeal, but when you compare it to Halo’s #1 competitor (CoD) they’re pretty much par for the course. Nearly every identity pack in the WZ store is $20, the smallest ones are $16, the largest (I believe to date) was $30, and the content (as it relates to each game) is similar. Even other FTP games follow fairly similar pricing approaches. A few things in Infinite’s shop have been laughably overpriced, that sword belt for example, but most of it has been pretty much par for the course with the mess that is the FTP marketplace that dominates modern gaming.
My issue is that they’re bundles only, in a rotating shop. Open up the entire storefront, allow piecemeal purchasing so people can actually buy what they want and aren’t saddled with a bundle price for one or two things (a complaint people have had in CoD) for awhile). Lastly unlock coatings and visors for use across all cores.
When being objective, price points aren’t the issue as much as a lack of value. It’s not being helped by issues surrounding the pass, but thats a different set of issues altogether.
The prices are exorbitant and the items are way too constricting. Why would I pay $20 for customization that only fits one armor core? Most people I play with regularly like to make their Spartan and keep them set, maybe changing minor things with unlocks. I sincerely doubt many players will cycle through their Mark 7, then Reach armor, and then their Yoroi (but I could be wrong.)
Colors have always been a signature of players, and the new system of highlighting players made me excited to see people express themselves differently too, but if I don’t have my favorite coating available for every armor core that just means to me I’ll stick to one look and never bother even considering buying new releases.
Yeah. Armor pieces should be $1 tops each.
I don’t know about COD prices, but compared to Fortnite prices they’re way off base. I get that Halo and Fortnite are very different, but a character/skin on Fortnite is about 1200 “vbucks” aka $10, plus you can earn “vbucks” through playing and levelling up. So with enough playing you can eventually “buy” a skin for free. Most skins come with a backpack or pickaxe that you can use on any other characters you have.
Infinite is charging double that for most armor packages and there is no way (in my knowledge) to earn spendable credits through playing. Even once you do buy an armor, you can’t use certain helmets on certain armor cores.
Weapon skins are even worse. A weapon skin in Fortnite is only $4 and once you buy it you can apply it to ALL your guns and vehicles. Yep, everything for just $4! The Halo Infinite weapon skins might only work on ONE gun depending on the bundle, and certainly not on the vehicles. Is there anything cosmetic on the Halo store that’s $4?
the systems are designed to target whales. normal people are irrelevant.
Here’s how pricing would work in my world
- $5 for a full armor set like Anubis
- 2-3$ for chest and shoulder sets or just chests
-1$ for emblem and visors.
They’d catch way more flies with honey this way.
But the thing with digital items is 343i cannot run out of them. So if a bundle cost 20 dollars and one in every 20 people buys that pack they make 1 dollar from every person playing the game. If that makes sense. And if they reduce the cost of that same bundle to 5 dollars and suddenly 1 in every 2 people buys that bundle, they will make 2,5 dollars per person playing the game.
And I feel that is what is happening right now. I really like some items from the Anubis set for example, but to me that is not worth 20 dollars, so they will get zero dollars from me. If they reduced the price to roughly 8 dollars, I will probably buy the Bundle. If they reduced the prive to 5 dollars I would 100% buy it. And maybe I will buy the bundles from next week and so on as well. I would’ve 100% bought the 20 dollar Samurai bundle from last week if it was 5 dollars. Maybe also the bundle from the first week. So instead of getting 0 dollars from me, they suddenly get 15. And it are still the same digital items they cannot run out of.
And I think many people view the store in the same way as I do.
Absolutely! I would’ve bought every single “20 dollar bundle” to date if it was 5 dollars. So they would’ve made 15 dollars from me and right now they made 0.
Hell, I probably would’ve bought several 10 dollar bundles if they were 2 or 3 dollars.
343i cannot run out of digital content. That’s why I don’t get why they make it so expensive that pretty much nobody buys it with the exception of rich people who got money to burn.
In CoD you get animated weapon skins for 20+ dollar bundles. Also, these bundles already have weapon perks unlocked for you, making the weapons easier to use because it is more powerful with perks unlocked. So unlocking the full gun will be an easier process. In a way it is pay-to-win.
So far in Halo infinite there are no animated skins and there is nothing in the bundles that will benefit you in the game. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good thing there are no pay-to-win mechanics in Halo Infinite. But that’s also another reason why these bundles shouldn’t be 20 dollars.
They dont care. The fact that the thought “this is too expensive,” crosses your mind means you arent their target audience. They want Mr.Whale who has already dropped 2K in the store and bought a fully maxed BP for all his friends.
This game was designed for whales and investors, if the average longstanding halo fan can put up with the no-playlist, limited mode, timed event challenge BS and have some fun along the way then that is just a side effect,

I think in the long run they make more money from honey than from vinigar. Have a bundle for 20 dollars and one in every 20 people buys it. Have the same bundle for 5 dollars and 1 in 2 people buys the bundle. = more money. And since these are digital items, 343i cannot run out of them.
I get that it sucks that there are pretty much no playlists in the game and that the challenge system is a mess. But I am a little but more optimistic. We are in a beta. If they continue the challenge system how it is now, more people will quit the game = less money from macrotransactions. Yes I get they’re called microtransactions, but considering the prices.
Same with the playlists. Halo 5 has 16 active playlists right now, and Halo Infinite only 4. If they keep it that way, people will quit the game in a few weeks/months. = less money from microtransactions.
Destiny 2 year one was a horrible mess. The game recovered. Hopefully 343i doesn’t take a full year to fix the playlists, shop, progression and challenge system in Halo Infinite.
These price points in CoD existed before they had color changing skins or even colored tracer rounds. Thays been the price since IW/WZ launch. CoD store and pass content as it stands now is after a couple years of making obscene amounts of money, upping the flair of what you’re getting as well as dropping some premium currency in their pass makes sense at THIS juncture for them, it didn’t at launch.
The overall point was that relative to each game, the content is very similar at the same price point. My expectation for Infinite is that overtime they will have to increasingly modify what’s offered in terms of visual flair to keep people buying, same as CoD did.
