Armor Lock is a wrinkle I can overlook when I compare it the sheer number of problems in Halo 5’s multiplayer.
My biggest complaint in Halo 5: Guardians is the motion tracker. The reduced range of 18m combined with new additions like Spartan Charge makes for some extremely frustrating gameplay, especially in Free-For-All. The range of Spartan Charge is greater than the radius of your motion tracker in Halo 5, and so you can never see the chargers coming, leading to a lot of sudden and cheap deaths.
Then there’s the design of multiplayer in general. I’ve always had more fun playing Social than Ranked, and Halo 5 multiplayer is basically all-Ranked. Even the supposedly unranked playlists have CSR running in the background to set up matches based on “skill”. You’d think Warzone would be better, but between people farming for Achilles armor and the whole game mode basically being pay-to-win, it comes up short. Halo: Reach has a much better BTB offering as well as Invasion.
There’s also a lot more to do in Halo: Reach. Unlike Halo 5, Reach has had Grifball, Assault, Race, and Infection since launch. It also has the best iteration of Firefight in the entire Halo series, which I can customize to my heart’s content, along with every other game mode in Halo: Reach. Armor is unlocked through progression rather than microtransactions (plus it actually looks cool, not like the Power Rangers armor collection you in Halo 5), and I don’t have to be always online to play Custom Games, Forge, or watch my saved films in Theater.
I wish 343i would give this game more support. Make all the DLC free so I can actually play the maps I paid for, especially the Anniversary maps. Fix the frame-rate issues on Xbox One. I can still play the game on my Xbox 360, but Xbox One is more convenient… also, I like the controller better.

Nice… DLC maps were out of this world (pun most certainly intended). and… thumbs up for multiplayer
Yeah Halo 5’s MP is too fast paced for me and I prefer reach’s. I am not a fan of armor abilities and bloom but those are no where near as frustrating as Halo 5’s MP

“Faced-paced” is not how I would describe it. Halo 3’s multiplayer was fast-paced, and I had 8,700+ games worth of fun in that game.
Halo 5’s multiplayer is a broken mess where gameplay is based on luck, and the winners might as well be determined by a random number generator. I swear, Destiny’s Crucible mode is better than Halo 5’s multiplayer, and that is not a game you play for the PvP.

I mean by like map movement you can spawn on one end of the map and get to the other side in half the time it would take you in Halo 3 or Reach

Even then, many Halo 5 maps have been stretched out. I know what you are saying. I think of it like Halo 5 and even Halo 4 to some extent is Halo with ADHD. There’s always something going on and nothing of importance is ever happening.
Halo 5 is an overload of hectic movements, frantic scrambles and headless chickens. I’ve been arguing for a while now that the overcomplicated 343i Halos are actually more off putting rather than appealing to wider audiences.

Yeah I would like to have a reach like multiplayer without bloom, sprint for everyone but it’s limited like it was in reach, and have armor abilities like camo and jet pack placed on the map as power weapons. Other than that Reach’s music, custom games, forge and art were all amazing the campaign had a wide variety of types of missions

I agree with everything there except the part about bloom. The zero-bloom DMR was extremely overpowered. Maybe make the bloom more like it is in Halo 4? That’s one of the few things they did right in that game…
Oh, and buff the damage on all automatic weapons so they’re actually useful. I’m talking the Assault Rifle, Plasma Repeater, Plasma Rifle, and Spiker.

lmfao I have 60 days of Reach gameplay and a grand total of 5 thats right FIVE kills with the spiker its on zero maps and is hands down the worst gun in reach. At least the plasma rife and repeater melt shields like butter.

My point exactly. Buff the damn thing… and put it on more maps. That gun was a lot of fun in Halo 3. I didn’t even need to dual-wield it to kick -Yoink- with the Spiker in Halo 3.
You’d think so, but everyone praises Halo 5’s multiplayer for being more “fast-paced”… but Halo’s slower pace is what set it apart from more generic fast-paced FPS games like Call of Duty. Ergo, Halo has lost more of it’s identity with Halo 5. IMO, making the game more fast-paced was more damaging to Halo that Armor Abilities or even Loadouts or Ordnance ever were. What’s next, they take away energy shields?
