Man it was fun! Mindlessly blowing up up covies and getting Killionaires, using the NR. Good Times.
I personally prefer Spartan Ops over Firefight in Reach. But I’d take ODST Firefight over Spartan Ops anyday.
ODST Firefight and Spartan Ops is awesome as you’re not invincible and don’t always carry a Fuel Rod or Rocket Launcher.
Spartan Ops = Co-op Campaign

Why would you only compare it with Arcade/Rocket Fire Fight? You can customise it however you want, make it as difficult as you want. And don’t say because it is the most played in matchmaking. ODST’s Fire Fight doesn’t even have matchmaking…
Firefight matchmaking is always (and I mean always) Arcadefight.
Only boosters play that mode.
My friend is never online to play, and I am sick of having power weapon spams chosen.

In the old days when it was only Sniperfight or Rocketfight, I used to dashboard or vote that generator crap to get out fast. I only played Sniperfight (w/bubble shield) and used a needler as my backup. I’m currently sitting at over 200k sniper kills in FF. I almost cleared one of those 30 minute sniper fights on Courtyard solo one time, but I got bum rushed by the drop pod ultras during the final wave and didn’t have enough time to kill the last 3 or 4 enemies. It stood as my “most consecutive kills without dying” at 333 for about 2 years. Now my best is listed as 358 with rockets. It’s really 374, but the game didn’t count because the host quit. Which leads me to my next point. I’m currently going for a million kills in firefight. I broke 850k today, and I’m averaging 200+ per match with the bad randoms I’ve been getting.
The settings for the other gametypes are garbage. Fistfight is idiotic without the Black Eye skull, and using the hammer is borderline suicidal with so many grenades laying around because they couldn’t fix grenade pickup with weapon swapping disabled. At least turn off the Catch skull and keep Black Eye on for christ sakes. Nadefight and Plasmafight are garbage. Nadefight without infinite grenades is dumb to begin with, but it’d be tolerable with a damage bump. Otherwise, the concussion rifle is only good for -Yoink!- off most enemies. Sniper fight is only fun on the maps you can hide up high because I refuse to play on the ground with a bloom-ridden magnum as my secondary just because idiots can’t keep their hands off the FRGs. If it were at least Sniper + DMR like the Arcadefight loadout, it might be more tolerable. Also, if they’re going to give everyone infinite ammo, why not infinite armor abilities!? and a damn laser loadout.
FF Limited is complete BS. I love ODST firefight. I’ve run Endure like 3 times now with people. There’s no time limit in ODST FF. It’s insane to limit lives, rounds, and time. Pick one. Either stop it after one set, or get rid of the timer. If I spend a half hour in there and survive, I want my -Yoink- bonus round. I also want the same damage as Arcadefight. The fact a single plasma grenade stuck on a phantom knocks off the turret in Arcade but not Limited really irritates me. Another thing that’s really stupid is the fact there’s a section in the service record for firefight on each difficulty, but it’s never been possible to play on Normal.
Score Attack is just sucky. 1 round, no bonus, still a time limit on everything, too many random gametypes instead of just “Arcade Attack.” You can never get the gametype you want on the map you want reliably.
More voting rounds are needed on both FF and Score Attack, and the appearance of Waterfront needs dialed the hell down.
Love Firefight. Spartan ops was a massve letdown for me. The writing and characters are atrocious, and is almost a parody of itself at this point (referring to the writers making jokes about the tediously poor designed objectives in the actual dialogue) Besides the abysmal writing, every mission has little to no effort put into it, not to mention the ridicules amount of recycled content. Before Halo 4 came out Frankie hinted that they would only reuse environments ‘sometimes’ because the story would require it. This was an obvious lie. I would take firefight over spartan ops anyday, but i hope 343i decides to invest serious time into making spartan ops in halo 5 something worthwhile.
Firefight limited would be great so long as lives weren’t shared…
Apparently the noobs who play FF can’t survive too long with the Assault Rifle and Magnum (perfect for headshotting). So it’s no wonder everyone chooses arcadefight.
I wonder what 343 was thinking when they threw out firefight and put in Spartan Ops.
NOT EVERYONE HAS XBOX LIVE YOU IDIOTS! You don’t need Xbox Live to play firefight (although it may not be as fun as with friend).
And it was a real letdown that you couldn’t forge your own firefight map. Now THAT would have real potential!

Firefight Matchmaking would have been a lot more enjoyable if Arcade and Rocket Firefight didn’t show up so often…

Except Arcadefight shows up every single round.
And limited does… but every time it gets picked the noobs loose the lives quickly becuase they don’t have power weapons.
Arcadefight should not be nearly as common as it is now.
Arcade FF should have really been a weekend only thing.
I kinda firefight…
Even thought it was just spamming fuel rod shots into enemy spawn points alot of the time I still miss snipers and gruntpocalypse
Well firefight was ok but it was nowhere near as fun as halo 3: odst firefight.
Since they turned firefight in reach into some camp fest with too many OP weapons on both covenant, the spartans which made the game less fun, then they included the worst elements of giving everyone OP weapons in spartan ops which ruined it for me.

You do it again, ODST doesn’t even have matchmaking, so why do you compare it with Reach’s matchmaking? You should compare both vanilla Fire Fights, Arcade Fight is not Reach’s Firefight, it’s one single gametype. You can create an unlimited amount of gametypes with Reach’s Fire Fight, you can easily make it almost the same as ODST’s Fire Fight.
> I kinda firefight…
> Even thought it was just spamming fuel rod shots into enemy spawn points alot of the time I still miss snipers and gruntpocalypse
Again, that is just one single gametype…

And again, they didn’t do that, it’s just the fault of the players who choose it all the time in matchmaking. But you shouldn’t compare it with that, because ODST didn’t even have matchmaking…
ODST’s Fire Fight is just the same thing over and over again. With Reach’s Fire Fight you can change everything! You can make it as hard as you want… Of course there are some little things like how the Covenant behaves, but that’s nothing compared to how many other options you have…
Reach FiestaFight was so amazing since you were always on your toes about what you were going to receive!
Yeah, halo reach is good. Everyone log back on and play halo reach and halo 3!!!
Halo Reach is definitely one of my favorite games.
