I played Halo 4 Yesterday - My Opinion

Description:

Last night I was at the Halo 4 Black Beta sponsored by V. We saw Josh Holmes talking about his experience building the game and showing off a new portion of the Halo 4 campaign (I believe it was the third level in the campaign) Not only that, we had the opportunity to play multiplayer and Spartan Ops. I chose to play MP as the lines of Spartan Ops were too long and I wasn’t that interested in play Spartan Ops anyway. The maps I played on were Exile, Adrift and Ragnarok.

Opinion:
At first I was quite sceptical of Halo 4, due to the perks and loadouts, but as soon as I started playing, it felt exactly like Halo. Everything felt seamless to me. Straight away I was 5 shoting people with the BR/DMR. I even got an amazing final killcam that my friend forgot to record, it was a Sniper no scope across the map on Exile. As I finished playing, all my doubts and worries about the game were gone, Halo 4 plays amazingly and the graphics and audio are incredible!

Trust me people, Halo 4 is no Reach, 343i has done an amazing job balancing all the starting weapons, AA’s and Specializations.

Halo 4 will revive the Halo franchise once again!

Feel free to leave questions, I’ll try to answer as many as I can

Is good to have positive reviews, since most of the times people are skeptical, you are lucky to play the game

Also, Wraparound? Do you mean Adrift?

How was the soundtrack in the campaign gameplay you saw?

Glad to hear  just a quick question, did the vehicles bounce around (reach) or were they more stable? (h3)

This is what is wrong with opinions like these:

You’ve only played it once and you don’t recognize any flaws. Also, the game is new, and so your brain is enjoying itself because it’s learning new things.

Play it for a week, or a month, and all of the flashy stuff will turn mundane. This is why I never follow opinions that say “I played Halo at an event one time before everyone else before it came out”.

I’m not saying that it’s because you’re ignorant, but everyone will have that same reaction.

> How was the soundtrack in the campaign gameplay you saw?

The soundtrack was awesome, you sounded exactly like Halo, I even heard monks singing :open_mouth:

Tell me about the Thruster Pack, and Carbine.

I’m glad to hear you liked it. Also that you feel it’s balanced and plays like Halo should.

Glad to hear, I can’t wait for Halo 4.

Are the graphics kind of like reach where there’s a lot of frame rate drops (usually when you zoom in?)

> Tell me about the Thruster Pack, and Carbine.

The carbine definitely felt the most accurate out of the starting weapons. It was deadly at long range. I never actually got to use the Thruster Pack, but I saw someone using it on Regicide on Haven, he was using it amazingly. He would avoid grenades, use it in his strafe, avoid combat, etc.

You said the audio was great, so I’m assuming you had headphones.
How did things like the sniper sound? From videos of it, it doesn’t sound great to many of us, but I read someone saying today he “jumped” when he fired it because of how loud and striking it was. Also, if you got to use things like the shotgun and magnum, and some covenant weaponry, how did they sound? I’m asking because these are the guns that sound a little less awesome than the others judging by online videos, which are obviously not the same as the real thing.

It’s good to see this, especially the bit where you say ‘its not like Reach’

Audio is the last thing you need to worry about. I got to use the Sniper a lot while I was playing and it sounds amazing!!! It sounds like a Barrett 50 cal, although, it’s particularly harder to use, I don’t know why, but I found it harder to get headshots. I didn’t get to use too many Covie weapons, but the Carbine really packs a punch, it sounds so futuristic. Trust me mate, the weapon sounds are incredible!

Graphics are more colourful and vibrant compared to Reach and I noticed no frame rate drops while playing

Awesome, thanks for answering. Can’t wait for this game. Did you get the chance to try any vehicles? Namely the Mantis or Warthog?

> Glad to hear  just a quick question, did the vehicles bounce around (reach) or were they more stable? (h3)

The vehicles were definitely much more stable and didn’t flip around as much compared to Reach. I saw some people dominating with the Ghost.

Does the Br feel balanced with the dmr?

This seems to be a VERY consistent trend. Everyone who has actually played the game absolutely loves it and that gives me a lot of optimism for Halo 4.

have you used the auto sentry and/or sticky detonator?
