I payed $40 to play 2 game modes

as seen in the most recent bulletin 343 is pulling the plug on alot of fun and competitive playlists such as Anniversary BTB, Anniversary FFA, Firefight Doubles, Action Sack, and Squad DLC.

why would they do this. these are some of the most populated game modes in the game. and with anniversary ffa being gone it will be impossible to get some achivements for the game. and with the loss of anniversary btb what will be the point of ride line and breakneck.

they have also managed to eliminate a classic and thats action sack. that game mode was very fun and why would it have to be taken away.

I will very much miss firefight doubles but squad DLC was the only true competitive gametype in the game IMO.

This has to be one of the worst MM updates yet. why did they get rid of the good stuff and leave the stuff we dont care about.

and to make it worse we are now limited to 2 gamemodes in anniversary and they are classic and firefight. classic only has 3 maps and there is only one firefight map.

why would they do this?

Idk what they were thinking when they removed BTB anniversary, do they think that without forcing dlc in normal BTB that it will still actually come up with any of those maps?

Action Sack has sucked in Reach ever since it came out, just like someone else said on another topic, it was pretty much a test playlist for some stupid Megalo scripted gametypes which were never removed.

You say it will be impossible to get some of the achievements in the game, any of the achievements for Reach isn’t technically a part of the Anniversary package, just a side effect of letting players who own Reach & the Anniversary DLC play with Anniversary disc owners, same applied for Halo 3: ODST w/ Halo 3 Mythic.

You want those achievements, use the download code for the map pack that came with Anniversary and buy Reach.

The Anniversary maps, mainly Ridgeline & Breakneck will still be playable in Big Team Battle, with those 1,000+ players moving from there, likely to Big Team Battle, you will find DLC games a lot more often.

Squad DLC was NOT competitive in the slightest, it was a joke, Assault Rifle starts on maps like Highlands was a stupid idea, the games always ended by the time limit and not score because no one will move out of their base unless they have a DMR, Needle Rifle, Sniper or other power weapon.

If players showed interest in these playlists that are being removed earlier on, they would be staying, they don’t have a place in Reach matchmaking any more, especially since they just make search times longer after Halo 4 comes out with the lack of players that will be on Reach.

Not to mention the fact that it had on average 30 players at any given time. It was the least popular playlist in the game.

Funny thing about Action Sack though, as I’ve heard, the CC’s tried to update it but were shot down numerous times in the past.

R.I.P. Halo: Reach Action Sack: 08/14/2012

  • Oh what a beautiful playlist you could have been.

WHAT? Yesterday or two days ago, I was on my Anniversary disc and it said that the server was unavailable. I didn’t play Anniversary Reach today.
My Reach disc is unplayable, so I usually play Anniversary BTB and Anniversary FFA. Now it’s removed?! Are you serious?

Hopefully, they somehow improve the Classic playlist, then. Or bring the old back.

First I’ve heard of it, but all players used Action Sack for, just like Living Dead, was to get their stats up easily.

What? Squad DLC Popular? Last time I checked, the most popular playlists were Team Slayer, Living Dead and BTB.

Also:

> First I’ve heard of it, but all players used Action Sack for, just like Living Dead, was to get their stats up easily.

It’s such a shame too, the easiest solution to fix that was to implement better maps and gametypes to play instead of those broken, mundane and exploitable experiments that people used to get their stats up. Even still, it was one of the better playlists that didn’t deserve to be removed, especially over co-op campaign and anniv. firefight.

On the plus side at least Bungie/343i were consistent with their poor treatement of DLC owners.

The Anniversary map pack will probably be the last time I buy a Halo map pack since I’m sick of buying them only to be able to play them in customs.

Moa while i repsect all of your knowledge i dont think you are right when you claim DLC and anni maps will now come up more often. I play BTB with large parties and in the past we have 16 of us playing for 2-3 hours and all have anni and DLC maps and the only map we saw out of about 15 games was the Heavies version of headlong. I think i have seen only 3 DLC or anni maps come up in BTB in the last 12 months of game searches.

If 343 have done something on the server backend to better match players with DLC and Anni maps then it will probably work better but if nothing has changed i dont share your optimism that we will get more Anni and DLC map in BTB. Can you PM one of your mates at 343 and ask them if have they done anything with the search engines that will better match players who have the maps we paid for.

I actually run into DLC maps all the time. It may be because I usually play with friends, but I get to play on them quite a lot, even without going into the DLC and Anniversary playlists. It’ll be sad to see Action Sack go, but it never really reached its full potential anyways.

first they need to bring back squad dlc too.
second there used to be 4v4 dlc and 8v8 dlc and they combined it to squad dlc 6v6 all maps
they need to do that with anniversary squad anniversary, 6v6 slayer and objectives all maps
