its true, i play hard in the other game modes but for some reason ranked seems less imposing than others…so at the end of the night ranked is the mode i’m trying the LEAST hard at. Hate me, but i think i’m VERY not alone on this.

Your stats prove that the Rank system is very poorly implemented.
No disrespect to you is intended; I am only commenting how badly the system works given that you have a low K/D, negative KDA, lost more matches than won, and have reached Platinum 4.
343 should be ashamed of their Rank system implementation.

I play ranked because I need some competition to keep my interest. Casual games are not my thing. I only have about 20-30 matches in pub modes and mostly on FFA, BTB and recently tried Attrition. Fiesta is not my thing, it’s completely stupid. In ranked I have north of 1000 games. I agree with @Wintermute_2050, too many people finished their placements in Plat or even Diamond. It could have been better, but I assume Season 2 placement will fix that.

Platinum seems to be the average placement for most players. I do see Golds carry from time to time and I see Platinums perform really badly. I see myself as bad at this game (even though I’m probably average), but I have fun in the Platinum ranks regardless.
All ranking systems in Halo historically have had their flaws (especially the H2 and H3 systems), but it’s probably not as bad as you think.

Incredibly, placements in Platinum or Diamond occur every day with players who have performed very poorly. You can see watch this occur on Twitch.
Someone in another thread told me that this obfuscated decision making by the rank system is part of the seeding process that attempts to balance the quantity of players in each rank. Unfortunately, it also means that players below Platinum are then locked into their rank because progression becomes next to impossible.
I have even watched a few players perform badly and get placed in Diamond. That’s just ridiculous! 343 really has to revise this ranking methodology.

Then it would probably blow you’re mind to know that my sober placing was diamond 3 if i remember right. that was when the game first came out though.
