The competitive community wants a 4sk BR.
Many people say “it FEELS more balanced” and “a 4sk will make it be OP”.
The competitive community has time measurements for kill times that prove it takes almost a HALF SECOND LONGER (a large amount of time relative to the kill times of the other weapons) to kill with the BR.
The competitive community says that jetpack destroys map control. Whats the point of having gaps in the floor and wall if people can just fly over them? why not just have a big, green and blue square room?
Many people simply say “adapt.” (which has been shot down closer to a hundred times now)
There are most likely a dozen more of these arguments with the same results. Point is, its harder for competitive players to respect your opinions if you cant come up with a counter argument that makes sense, let alone a decent counterargument. i just ask that people please keep this in mind?

343’s step children won’t be pleased with this Drew. Without any facts or counterarguments they’ll most likely call you a “troll” for not worshiping the golden calf that is Halo 4.
TROLL! I’m joking.
I believe that both the casual and competitive players have come to some interesting conclusions, but most of the time it’s just blind praise or hate for Halo 4 that leads people to think that the competitive players want ‘to live in the past’, and casuals that ‘don’t know how proper games are made’.
I both agree and disagree with additions 343i has made to Halo 4.
You forgot “It’s not the final version of the game.”
> You forgot “It’s not the final version of the game.”
my bad, maybe ill add a few things later when i larger list of the many things i didnt post is compiled.

Does liking Halo 4 make you 343’s step child? Curious, because your definition of “343’s step children” is just a little cloudy to me.

the people that think halo 4 is going to be a fantastic perfect game without any arguments against the well backed up arguments against the competitive community, i would think.
(dang, that was a mouthful.)

I take no issue with anyone liking Halo 4, just the poster’s who attack others for not worshiping the golden calf. You’ll find at least ten threads a day made to the tone of why are people so negative/ be positive? There are aspects of Halo 4 that I like (Spartan Ops) and other’s I don’t (Multiplayer). They make it seem as if I don’t like every aspect of the game then something is wrong with me.
I refer to them as 343’s stepchildren because they bear no relation to 343 but are much in the same their offspring.

Makes sense lol, offspring chuckle
> “it FEELS more balanced”
I didn’t know the competitive community as a whole played the game already. I understand that looking into the gameplay we have is important, but playing the game to make the decision is too. Chances are you weren’t at E3.
Halo: Combat Evolved
Halo 2: (No words were enough to describe it’s awesomeness.)
Halo 3: Finish the fight!
Halo Reach: Adapt!
Halo 4: Deal with it!
The future of Halo looks bright . . . . .

Yet that had a website dedicated to it about how much it sucked.
Halo 3 was also hated on for certain aspects.
People need to remember that the first 3 games of the trilogy weren’t received with 100% praise.
Troll, just cause you predicted that you would be called a troll doesn’t mean you aren’t one.
You people worry way to much about multi-player. Halo is pretty much a single player game, having multi-player changes will not ruin it or make everybody hate it for all eternity.
It’s frustrating when you make a valid argument supported by evidence only to watch people completely disregard it and say “adapt” or “fine, don’t buy the game.” The more Halo 4 information we receive, the more I realize that on this site the only thing that matters to most people is that 343i did it.
There’s nothing wrong with being a massive Halo fan. I guarantee that I am a bigger fan of this franchise than 99% of this community. People seek to find solutions and make the game better because they love Halo. Those of you who fall in line just because 343i said so also love Halo; you are not, however, doing anything to help the game be as good as it can possibly be. This isn’t about competitive vs. casual. I’ve got news for you, if you’re here you aren’t casual (you might not be competitive but you definitely aren’t casual).
Player 1: 4sk BR will make Halo 4 a better game. We have Proof!
Player 2: No! we don’t want Halo 2.5
Player 1: I didn’t say that. Why is a 5sk better instead can you give me proof?
Player 2: IM A TRUE A FAN AND HALO NEEDS TO CHANGE! GO PLAY HALO 3!
It really can’t go on like this, things like this are stopping Halo 4 from reaching its potinial… if you have an opinion please give reason and evidence.

Evidence? That’s a little much to ask of this community, don’t you think? Your post is spot on–in people’s blind faith towards 343i, they completely miss the point.

Halo 2 did have words to describe its “awesomeness”.
“it’s Halo 1 on fire going 120 miles per hour through a hospital zone chased by helicopters and ninjas. And the ninjas are all on fire too.”
Please do tell me how exactly Halo 2 lived up to this quote from Bungie as a sequel to Halo 1.
I loved Halo 2 I’ve played it on both platforms and on its final days of XBL life. One final game on Containment before I had to say goodbye. It was marvelous.
The problem is that no one is going to use anything but the BR even if it is Underpowered. If it was the DMR that was underpowered there would be a lot less talk about it. Do we really want this to be like Halo 3 where the BR was incredibly dominant? I guess some people say yes, but I’d rather have some diversity.
Not a competitive reason I know, but games where 1 weapon rule them all usually get bashed pretty hard for that(That was the biggest complaint I heard about Halo 3 and lets not even talk about the MP40 in WaW)
Overall I still think it will be tweaked by launch, so I think all this talk about it might be a little premature.
Jetpacks are just fun, only reason for it. So honestly there will always be discourse between people whose main concern with the game is having fun and those who are more concerned about competition.

It’s all about bringing it to a level where it is balanced with the DMR and Carbine. If other weapons can combat it, which the DMR and Carbine will do if kept at their current power, then having a one weapon rules all game shouldn’t happen.
I really like the idea of having three utility-type with each filling a different range niche. But that plan completely falls under if one of the utility weapons is severely lacking in comparison.
