I no longer feel comfortable supporting 343i

It was definitely a much needed re release.

Even though the games was working prior to the Windows release. Players had scattered. When Reach was released back in 2019 both Xbox and PC players came back.

Time of the great influx!

So how long until the real release of H:I?

“10 year plan” = The game will be finished in 10 years.

Now, I didn’t say that other developers or single player games are all adopting mtx, we’re just going to see more and more games adopt mtx. Live service games are becoming the norm quite frankly. There are a lot of great single player games that avoid mtx or have little mtx involved, and that’s great. But for the big games, like Halo, COD, Battlefield, it’s becoming more and more common.

Reach BP was a huge letdown. I love CQB and Mark V, and they lock it for no good reason, then don’t talk or touch it for almost a year. Probably will stay that way. They have the most off and on transparency with things. Sometimes they’ll be honest, other times radio silence. No way do I want to give them any more money. Dudes basically hate Halo, because of how much they don’t want to make the game like Halo.

No there was a reason.
Money.
Also, the reason why ALL of the Reach armor was not released at once is because of the fact that every Armor Core will have contents unleashed as the game progresses.
This way, if you prefer the Mark V Bravo armor core; you have unlocks for it that should come around on occasion.
Imagine if you unlocked everything in one go of a season, and then for the next two seasons; the cosmetics didn’t appeal to you?
That sounds like a way to just disappoint players who would say “Why is there no new stuff for ‘X’ armor core”?

Hopefully when Cross-Core is introduced; the shop gets reworked too so that we can obtain whatever cosmetics we want at any time; you know; like R6 Siege’s shop?

While true, the limit are the consumers. Consumers who are vocal and know when they’re getting shoveled crap tend to avoid the bad products. See; Halo Infinite, Battlefield 2042, Babylon’s Fall, Marvel’s Avengers, etcetera. Western game publishers and out-of-touch suits like Bonnie Ross see consumers as cash cows that, instead of milking, want to butcher as quickly as possible to return the maximum amount they can on the resources they put in.

For Halo, Call of Duty, and Battlefield, there are limits to how far they can go. Halo and Battlefield have discovered them - Halo Infinite is an utter and complete failure of a live service and Battlefield 2042 is barely doing any better. Both games typify what’s wrong with the money-first mentality of organizations like 343i/Microsoft and EA, as they’re more strongly focused on getting as much money as humanely possible instead of providing a good game that draws in consumers. Rather than milk the cash cow, they instead seek to butcher it.

But again, it’s going to come down to how far consumers can get pushed, and I think we’re running up against how far pushing can go before consumers put their foot down.

I meant “no good reason”. They haven’t even released those sets, let alone talked about other MKVB armors, since launch. If it truly was for money, why wait so long to release them?

To ensure that the money flows steadily rather than in a sudden burst I guess?
For example, if you were to look at it from a tax perspective, it is better to have smaller increments of money instead of a large sum.
I get paid every Thursday.
Taxes take less of a cut of my actual pay than if I got paid a monthly salary.
I get more bang for my buck so-to-speak.

Not to mention, it makes it easier to budget.
If they instead received a massive lump sum of money, they would have to be more careful with the budget.
However smaller increments means that they can be more flexible with spending.

Ultimately it’ll be fruitless as everyone who would have bought it has likely moved on. Whether they had a plan or not, they won’t benefit much from it, in the end.

I am of the opinion that legacy armours in Infinite should be unlocked through “free” methods, at least, as part of a Battle Pass and not relegated to Store only where they will be priced at extortionate prices.

New original stuff? Okay, whatever, put that wherever you want it. However, I don’t agree with putting stuff we’ve had access to for years suddenly being put behind a very high pay-wall.

For the remaining missing Reach armour, that should be rewarded through some sort of mini event imo.

In fact Unyshek made reference to them in a reply on Twitter;

Made me chuckle there! We’ve seen the talk around the Reach pieces - they’ll make an appearance in the future. With players in mind, we changed the initial release plan and it was the right call. Players (& the pieces) will have a better moment when they do arrive as a result !:+1:

So make of that what you will.

Sheesh that kind of thing is unheard of nowadays. By Infinite’s standards $50-$75 purchase right there. At least the maps are free now, but this still highlights how far the video game industry has fallen in terms of greed.

The problem with this isn’t the devs, it’s their bosses, and that is the problem with gaming these days. I’m sure things were planed to where infinite might have been in a better place, but anyone that doesn’t refuse to look at reality can see the decisions made like the “live service”, basing the beta around a battle pass, and using the shop as content wasn’t the devs that are actually working on infinite idea.

It’s at the point the employees working for a business like 343 are not there to make a game anymore, they are there being used to make a profit witch is technically okay, but in the wrong way.

It’s a difficult situation but we must stay hopeful that it will be the game we expected it to be in 2 years…

True enough, and I am sure Infinite will be in a much better place in that time but even so, if they add microtransactions to MCC, it still doesn’t feel right to me to support them. That’s the main issue I have
