I never want to see this in a Halo game again

[Contains Spoilers]

Before I post this, I’m gonna throw out there that I LOVE Halo 4, I love the campaign, the matchmaking, everything!
Well, almost everything, there is one thing in the campaign that I couldn’t stand… The quicktime events. I forgot about them in the first mission, because I read in an interview with Frankie that they where put in place to show new players the chief’s power…
But the ending with the Diadact and the grenade… That was not right, a Halo game should not finish like that…
I love Halo 4, and the campaign, but the quick time events, especially the ending one, just didn’t feel right…

Keep up the great work 343, but please, don’t put these in again.

Linear to the extreme and whiter than sour creme

I didn’t care for the campaign in 4 to much. To short. To many Tron looking levels.

I loved it, just felt the quicktime events dragged me out of the gameplay…

Bah, spoiler warnings, please! Some of us are too hooked on War Games to have finished yet!

That said, the QTE’s that I’ve seen so far aren’t that bad - they remind me of Lollipop Chainsaw, in how the action in the QTE is done by pressing the button you’d use to do it in gameplay, which I like.
I wouldn’t miss them if they were gone, but I don’t care if they stay. Pressing B to kill an Elite who’s trying to melee the Chief in a cutscene is far better than a button mashing minigame - it ties mechanics and story, even in the button presses.

Didact deserved a much, much better ending than that, after all the hype. I swear to god, if that really was it, that was the worse ultra-villain death I have ever witnessed.
I would have rathered an unplayable cut scene with Chief taking him out on his own over the QTE bs. At least that could have been cool.

It didn’t feel right because you should have had an epic quick time battle with him then detonated the nuke in his face.

>
> If the Didact could have died by one sticky grenade, why didn’t the chief just plasma stick him when he first saw him. Plasmas > Pulse Grenades any day. The ending was ridiculous…

IMO the few QTE serve no real purpose in the game. They don’t pose a real challenge to perform and they actually seem to disconnect the player from the immersion the core gameplay mechanics provide.

Yes,if the Master Chief is so powerful and the Didact too, make a battle like in Halo 2,its the only thing i dont liked in Halo 4,how the Didact is defeated.

The sad truth is, some of the battles from Red Vs Blue, a Machinima company, were so much better than almost anything I saw in the game.
Why didn’t they get those guys to program the fights while 343 just put the skins on top and maybe fine-tuned it a little.

Quick time events are terrible. They slow down gameplay, kill immersion, take away too much control from the player, and make the game far too scripted and clunky. They’re nasty and unnecessary, in my opinion.

I don’t mind Quick time events…

But, THAT ONE, ugh, that was the most anticlimactic build up of all time.

Yeah… All that work and… Meh.
Everything was really good, but the end battle could have been so much better.

Don’t worry, when they’ll be off promoting Halo 5 in a few years, 343 will be bashing that ending just like you are right now.

I’m sorry to do this but…LMFAO it felt exactly like CoD’s ending (blops I think, IDK).

So stupid.

Are you all fool?

ITS TE -Yoinking!- DIADCT, He’s a forerunner super solider, chief would be NOOOO match for him in a straight fight, the ending -Yoinking!- implies he SURVIVED

I was worried about them at first because I don’t like those QTE’s where you have to push a sequence of random buttons during a cutscene to take out your target. I hate those because rather than following the action on screen, I’m just looking out for what button I have to hit next. But the ones in 4 weren’t so bad, you just had to hit one button, so it was simple and nothing crazy or annoying.

So I don’t care if they return or not. The ones in Halo 4 didn’t take away from my enjoyment nor did they add to it either, they were just something extra I had to do during the game. If they’re in the next Halo, I just hope they at least remain simple like they were in 4.

No, we’re not “all fool”.

We could have had some sort of mini boss battle with him after John stuck the grenade to him, which wounded him significantly, instead of him just lamely falling off the bridge.

I really don’t care that much but…

Warning, spoilers:

What I’m wondering is how Chief survived a nuke from point black range and seemed to be no worse for the wear, especially since he was weakened from the didact.
