When starting up a campaign mission on either Anniversary title, the player must first go through five tabs. The second one contains the option for switching between classic and modern visuals. And during gameplay, there’s a dedicated button/key for it. Despite this, to this day, many are unaware of the feature.
Are there any theories as to what causes this? Because I never start any game without first adjusting settings to my liking.
A lot of people might first play a Halo campaign on MCC via quick play that while simpler and faster (for new players) doesn’t allow as much customization as the mission select way of playing campaigns.
If I understand what your post is asking then there isn’t much theory. The devs have explained why they added the graphic toggle switch.
Just a fun fact, that for H:CE when I was stitching s3d engine with H:CE engine I’ve created two windows, one for the remastered view and one for the original with legacy view. First step was to show them side-by-side and second step was to show/hide window to make sure that camera settings, first person weapon size and position were identical to legacy render. On the screenshot you can see that the camera fov was different at that time. Guys from 343 saw this feature and realized that it’s cool Who knows, maybe without this there would be no legacy render and I would not have to fix it now.
Well to start off, Carnage isn’t trolling. And to answer your question it is prolly because not everyone cares about looking at the settings before playing.
