I need some ideas

I’ve recently purchased a replica energy sword from Ebay in brand new condition. I wish to have it displayed on a mini gravity lift like the ones in the halo 3 maps Construct and The Pit. Any suggestions on what I could create to not only look like the ones in-game, but give it the illusion that it’s levitating? (It doesn’t have to look like it’s actually levitating, so the use of transparent plastic is fine.) I can’t put any holes in the walls or ceiling because that would piss off my parents. I also do not want to make something permanent, I want to be able to take it off the mount and hold normally, so I want the energy sword itself untouched. Thank you.

Here’s an idea, find a small fan. Then build the weapon holder out of wood or plastic but leave the interior hollow to hold the fan (a 3D printer would be ideal). The supports will be the tricky part, ideally you want two clear plastic stands that fit inside the weapon holder on either side of the fan, be very careful to make sure the sword is well supported and use painted wood or metal if you can’t find good plastic supports. Once you have that figured out, glue translucent blue streamer material to the inner edges of the weapon holder, if you do it correctly the fan should blow the streamers up and look like the miniature gravity lift that would hold up the weapon in game. (Note, to make the streamers work properly you may need a small hoop to go just inside the mouth of the device, if you wrap the streamers around it wind from the fan will flow through the small gap between the hoop and the inner edge of the lifter preventing the streamers from simply flopping over the rim of the weapon holder). Hope this helps, If you can’t get a fan I’ll explain a different method.

Although I do have a fan, I would like to hear the 2nd method. And thank you so much, I have been waiting for a reply for a couple weeks.

Do you have access to acrylic plastic? Perhaps you can make a clear acrylic stand to hold the Energy Sword upright, then make it detachable from the stand.

That sounds like a great, yet simple idea. Thank you very much! Where can i find and purchase acrylic plastic for retail?

Invent anti-grav technology.

Fishing line is nearly invisible when you use it to hang things!

Man that is so awesome you have an energy sword! I’ve always wanted to have some Halo replicas but all the ones I’ve seen have been really expensive.

That’s actually so cool. Kinda wish I had one.

I got mine off either amazon or eBay for $40-$50. It’s made of stainless steel which is sharpened, and it comes with a wall mount. The funny story is my mom bought it for me for my birthday, thinking that it was a plastic toy. She was so shocked when she realized she bought me a weapon.

Woah, so it’s made to scale? How much does this bad boy weigh?

Here is a link to the seller I got it from, if you’re interested in buying: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Replica-NEW-30-Full-Size-Halo-4-Energy-Sword-With-Plaque-/321125635611
It’s 76 cm long, and it’s made of 440 stainless steel. I don’t know exactly the weigh, but I would guess that it weighs at least 1 or 2 lbs.

give me some time, It is more complicated than it looks. Hopefully I didn’t mess up the equation already… anyways, back to work
