As much as I have really been looking forward to Halo 4, the information recently released does have me concerned.
Most concerning is the idea of Spartan Points. I can live with armor abilities and stuff like that. What I really cannot swallow is the idea of having people be able to buy things with these spartan points that will give them an advantage over others. Halo has always started players on an even playing field with the same guns and abilities or at least the same options for them. This has been one of the most important parts of the Halo formula and should not be changed.
The fact that barely any information has been released over the past year and then we get this GI article with some doubtful features detailed in it makes me worry. I want to hope that this will all be explained and they will somehow make this awesome but I have little reason to believe this with the way that 343i has handled things so far.
If they are going to announce controversial changes they should at least have made a strong effort to detail exactly how these things will work to minimize the freak outs. They should not be in the position of having to say: “don’t worry we will explain this, we know it sounds bad, but don’t worry it will be awesome”.
I hope that the next release of information is full of awesome sauce that can redeem what we have heard so far. I am patiently awaiting the release of more information before I jump to conclusions that this game will be a failure as others have done but I am most definitely concerned 343.
Don’t worry. The new feature will only be in a section of multiplayer. There’ll still be a section for normal Halo.

I share your concern and feel the same. I have a feeling that things are better than they seem.
I am trying to think about things the same way Insanity, which is why I posted this. When I first read the GI article I have to admit I was mad. But then I cooled down a bit and decided to wait until we hear more about how the game will actually work before giving up on the game.
There are positive signs in what 343 has shown us which gives me hope. For example, the return of the battle rifle without bloom and with hit scan. Also, no armor lock.
These things show that 343 is listening to the loyal fans who want Halo to continue to have the deep and skillful gameplay that we love. I’m no pro but I enjoy the game and continue to play it after all these years because I feel that I can always get better at it. I hope it remains that way and not too much randomization and unbalanced gameplay is introduced.

I agree with both of you.
343i is being a little too sketchy; but hopefully the new Game Informer will shed some light. And hopefully this ‘customization’ isn’t what is really sounds like, but what else could it mean?
