I MISS Vehicle Combat........

Do any of you guys miss vehicle combat in Halo 4? Because i sure do.

With 343 adding plasma grenades and plasma pistols into starting loadouts, vehicles are next to useless in BTB. What makes me more frustrated is the lack of vehicle health combined with the elements of PG AND PP which makes vehicles a certain deathwish. It TAKES two PG to kill a vehicle. (mainly full health warthog, ghost and mongoose)That is plausible as that happened in the halo 3 era.

However, no one spawned with PG and f***** PP. They actually had to go find those damm weapons on the map to defeat the opposing vehicles. They also had to treat the PP as a power weapon, for vehicles as they were nearly essential in defeating them (besides rockets, other vehicles and lucky PG throws)

Vehicles in Halo 4 are basically useless:

Tank: This is meant to be the strongest vehicle in the game, yet a lone wolf with a PP cant f** board it and destroy it. You may say, the tank will easily kill the lonewolf. That is plausible, however combind with those OP AA, such as jetpack and CAMO, the tank really does not stand a chance.

Warthog: The iconic vehicle of the halo franchise, where back in the days could turn the tides of battles with a good driver and a gunner. NOW the warthog is a laughing stock as it struggles to get a single kill (chaingun hog) and the guass hog doesnt fair better now with the TU nerfing the magnetism.

Banshee: The banshee is agile and fast. Even with an average driver (like myself) i am able to doge PP and PG if i dont stray to close to the ground. However thanks to the DMR, the banshee is useless as it gets shot down very quickly. In one of my games i only made it around exile once before i was blown up. ONCE!!!

Ghost: To me, the ghost is my new favourite vehicle. It is fast agile like the banshee, but of course lakes flight. Most people miss use the ghost as they try to splatter people with it. This MAY work at the start however with the amount of PP and PG around, close to your enemy is not an option. I am not saying all people just splatter with the ghost, some (including myself) use the laser cannons to the best of my ability. I just sick back with my ghost and fire away. Yes this may be camping to some but since when were vehicles so under powered

Manits: The best UNSC vehicle in the game. Completely wipes out any opposing vehicles (well except maybe the banshee) with its over powered rockets and kills any lone wolf spartans with is chainguns. To me, this vehicle needs teamwork among the other team to destroy. Yes you may be lucky and get a SL and an IC (stupid OD) and use the cheap armour ability of CAMO and sneak up behind it.

Mongoose: Basically the same as previous halo games except for its increased health. Why the hell would 343 nerf all other vehicles and buff the mongoose? I seriously dont get it. Or were they to worried that a casual (call of du***) player couldnt destroy a warthog or ghost.

BTB to me, is utter rubbish.(no offense) With PG and PP making vehicle combat useless combind with DMR camping from across the map, no wonder i gave up on the playlist. Yes you may say, “deal with it” but in my view, i though BTB was all about classic vehicle combat, combined with great teamwork for map control. Now its just noobs (no offense just using an example) who use DMR, combind with Camo to get cheap easy kills, with no teamwork involved. If i want no teamwork, and lone wolf style i would just go play COD. Because that is what COD IS. No teamwork just mindless shooting.

Yes, OP, I miss vehicle combat so much. It was what drew me to Halo in the first place. BTB is a bore when everyone is on foot, using the DMR.

Reach set us down this path, with the human small arms suddenly gaining the ability to deal significant damage to vehicles, and Halo 4 reducing their viability even further, with the hated Plasma Pistol/Plasma Grenade combo.

On that note, who was the -Yoink- at Bungie who thought giving the Sniper Rifle the ability to wreak vehicles was a good idea?!

I miss it as well. IMO, the only thing loadouts should contain are primary weapons. BS/PP ruin small/big maps. Perks are just stupid IMO.

If 343i buffed Warthog health so that its destroyed by 3 stickies instead of 2 and if they reduced the amount of stickies in loadouts from 2 to 1, vehicle combat would become a whole lot better.

I’ve accepted the Halo I used to like and play is dead. I liked BTB because it was based on vehicles, map control, and teamwork. Infinity Halo has ruined all that. BTB is now randomness, easy kills, and DMRs.

Hey Guys if you want the Old vehicle combat back check Out the Beta Version of my vehicle themed Map in my file Share…

Two bases with all vehicles, protected from spawn killing, two tunnels at each side with a sniper Nest in their middle, great ramp (like the ones in blood gulch) from One side to the other, half of the Map with Natural Design (Rocks and trees) the other One technical, spartan Laser in the middle of the Map…

To Play with the two gametypes in my file Share:

  • Classic: AR, Magnum and frag loadout with resupply on, no pp and pg, no Personal ordionance and no AA

  • Vehicle Slayer: 2 Loadouts to distract vehicles, two for cqb in the Tunnels and One two defend an area in the Tunnels… PO only with boosts and grenades, and no PG or PP in the Loadouts
    This gametype will be changed in a few hours because I’ll add an driver loadout

Note: this Map is a Beta and there will be some changes after a few Tests but for now enjoy the vehicle Combat (:

CoD is not a team game. You CAN play CoD as a team, but there are no team-based elements in the game to make it a team game. Battlefield and TF2 are team-based games as there are classes which provide specific roles to play. The more variety of classes people play as, the greater chance of you winning.

On topic: I play Halo 3 every now and again, and the vehicle combat in that game is terrifying in comparison to Reach or 4. In the hands of a good driver and gunner, the Warthog is extremely difficult to take out.

You really don’t get intimidated by vehicles like you would in Halo 3.

I don’t understand why they went into this direction as far as vehicles go. Making vehicles weaker and susceptible to all kinds of damage just seems like a step backwards, especially considering ordinance drops and players customs loadouts.

I dont think the Mantis is under powered in terms of health.
I withstood 3 direct railgun hits, once shields recharged 1 SPLaser & yep once again when shields recharged 2 Banshee bombs earlier, plus DMR rounds, Sniper rounds & some blast damage from a few Nades.
Ok after this barrage of assaults it was a walking inferno but I managed to exit the vehicle before it blew up (only to press X once out so I got straight back in aforementioned walking inferno & a 3rd Banshee bomb killed me doh)
I did have wheelman & gunner in my loadout, only reason I got in the thing tbh.
I do enjoy getting in the different types of vehicles, hell I will even drive randoms round Exile in a Gauss still (someone has to do it)

getting sprees in warthogs in now a pain,
Plasma loadouts need to be REMOVED from loadouts entirely

i must point out however, the Warthog is not a problem
it’s equal to warthogs in previous games
i have a Video in my file share where i got 22 wheelmans in a H4 warthog

the problem is that people can spawn with the tools to eliminate vehicle single-handedly

Sadly I have no choice but to agree :frowning:
The vehicles are weak and I dislike the map designs that the vehicles are on. There’s little to no breathing room to maneuver and really show of your skills unlike 2/3 where the maps with vehicles where open and in 3 you were allowed to fly and drive out of the map of course you had to bear in mind the guardians so you couldn’t camp outside the maps.

The warthog is absolutely not equal to previous games, thats incorrect, its weaker and Quinn told me the very same thing when I asked him, the issue isnt plasma, the issue is the reduced damage output and its ineffectiveness overall. 343 has noticed it as well, and is looking at addressing it as we speak. Your success w it is good to see, but doesnt change reality.

The Warthog turret may be getting a buff to its overall power. It’s in testing ATM, so fear not.

The gauss warthog prepatch was the reason I always ran for cover when I saw it barreling down Exile. It took a few ambushed by my teammates, but taking it down was really sweet.

It would have been better if they didn’t spawn with plasma pistols though, gauss hog or not, it ruins vehicle play. Want a vehicle dead? GO PICK UP THE WEAPON SUITED FOR IT.

I’m sorry, but since the release of Halo 4, the term “vehicle vs vehicle combat” has seemed to elapsed from my Halo dictionary. I can give you similar searches such as “vehicle vs DMR combat” or “vehicle vs plasma grenades combat”.

If you cant survive people with PP and Plasma nades, it is because you arent good at vehicles.
