although Reach was my entry into shooters and halo…in April i borrowed ODST and H3 from some friends of mine…and i was BLOWN AWAY. H3 multiplayer although nearly dead (even CoD 4 has more ppl) is seeming 2 be more fun than Reach…my only problem is the ranking system, but thats because all the ppl left in H3 are: noobs, jerks, -Yoinks!-, or hardcore H3 fans. anyways i REALLY hope this TU makes Reach more like H3…and 2 think im playing H3 when its near dead. what would have happened if i got xbl back in 2009?
You would have fallen in love, I got into Halo with Halo 3 and I have got to say that the only game that I have found that can contest with H3 is H2, because it is even faster and more competitive.
I would never have joined XBL if not for H3.
well i fell in love with Reach…but then…
“Im srry Reach…but i cant play you anymore…”
“Why? we’ve been together since September? Is it that new Annihilation thing in BO?”
“No, its another man…”
“I discovered Master Chief…”
“…fanboy.”

I never played Halo 2, but besides that I agree wholeheartedly.
Halo 3 rescued me from my WWII-Germany-like devotion to Nintendo, and brought me into the world of game consoles that don’t suck and games that have good gameplay. It was an amazing game. Hell – a friend just re-bought H3 for me recently, and it’s still amazing. Its campaign is miles ahead of Reach’s.
rofl look at my name…but i still LOVE nintendo. that will never change. EVER. GBA FTW.
H3 is 10x more fun then Reach, I still play it everyday
i think halo 2 has the best multiplayer out of all the halos. i recently bought it for my computer, as i had never played it on xbl. it was awesome, though i encountered many of the same -Yoink- tactics being employed in reach. but i guess all players need a crutch i guess. Halo 2 forever!!!
Halo 3 made me buy an XBOX 360.
Reach makes me want to buy a PS3.
Halo CE brought me into Halo. Halo 3 brought me into Xbox LIVE.

Scary how similar this is to me (at least the going from only Nintendo to Halo 3 on the 360. Never really went back after that, except for the occasional nostalgia trip.)
Yeah same happened to me. I saw a commercial at MTV about Halo Wars and thought that looks really cool. Than after a half year I buyed a xbox 360 but 3 months before I had my xbox I buyed the Halo Wars Limited Edition xD.
And with my xbox I got Halo 3 and I loved it. I played every day the hell out of it. I played it over 2 years after Reach came. I played Reach and than I got my first dissapointment in the Halo series. I really hated Reach and I can´t play it more than 5 minutes without getting frustrated. I hope that 343i changes Reach to a real classic experience.
Halo 2 was the golden day of Halo multiplayer and probably the best even compared to Halo: Combat Evolved if Combat Evolved had also had Live(Don’t argue. That gameplay would have been completely different and we all know it. I don’t think we would be able to 3 shot anything over 'Live.).
Halo 2 took the most skill to master.
Halo 3 took next-generation 'Live out of the box. It didn’t hit the nail on the head with gameplay, but it was damn close.
Halo: Reach is a decent game…just not in comparison. It lacks everything Halo should be which gives it a terrible taste in your mouth.
Playing H3/ODST makes me tahnkful i have a 360.
Playing Reach makes me go back 2 my Wii…
the only i’d buy a PS3 is if it came with MGS 4 for free with it. And, thats still a maybe.
Halo 3 was the only reason I got an XBOX at the end of 2008.

Let me just redirect you to this: http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=62515356 (And while it wasn’t mentioned specifically, if you could 3 shot over Halo PC netcode, you could sure as hell 3 shot over modern Halo netcode.)
But Halo 3 did take next generation Live out of the box, it’s gameplay was just about identical to Halo 2 almost, just no hitscan and no glitches that could be abused. Some argued button combos were skillful, well those were something newer players had no idea about and as stated by Bungie employees, not intended and glitches. Not meant to be used.
Don’t even got me started on the super bouncing also. I don’t think super bouncing up to a skyscraper in Headlong with a sniper sniping people waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out and up there took skill.
Reach further improved on it all, by the time Reach was released it was another generation of LIVE compared to when Halo 3 was released, voice chat parties now existed to where if you wanted to talk to someone while playing a game, it didn’t have to be your team mates and enemies (Which might I add detracted from the social experience exponentially.) , and many other features. Heck, Halo 2 online was cut off when Reach came around.
How does it lack what a Halo needs? It has an utilitarian weapon, a scoped pistol, the spraying AR, the typical sniper, and Covenant equivalents just as in past games, as well as unique Covvy weapons. It’s default movement speed is IN FACT the second fastest in the series. It is the size of the Spartans, and the scale of the maps that make you SEEM slow. Halo 2 was the fastest.
Maybe it is what they added new that gives you a bad taste.
Halo 3 is an amazing game, an everlasting one. Unlike Reach
I got Halo 3 on September 25th, 2007 on Midnight release and have not stopped playing it since. No other game or even Halo game as kept me this captivated before. I couldn’t even stand the Reach beta it was that bad.
The population in halo 3 might be a bit low but games are still easy to find. As long as I can find matches then I’ll keep playign Halo 3.

I really liked your post however I don’t want to attempt to answer your question as I would just give some statements that have been posted a thousand times before, and I don’t want to waste anyone’s time reading unoriginal comments posted by yours truly.
Also, I am so beyond tired that I can’t even write to my normal standard. I do enjoy being plain and to the point from time-to-time, but I normally have this eloquence and flow to my writing that has just been lacking all day as I haven’t gotten an hour of sleep since Wednesday, and I only have myself to blame for that. Regardless, I really don’t want to give you a half thought out response that, as I stated, would probably just be a regurgitation of a thousand other posts.
adsas;dkfjas;dlfkjasd;fkj Double Post. -Yoink- it, I really am tired.
Halo CE is what got me into Halo in the first place. Played it back in 2002 initially at a LAN party, had to get a copy of the game and an Xbox. It’s funny how I used to play when I first started. I wish I could have captured my gameplay at the very beginning then compared it to about a year before Halo 2 came out. By then I was a master, and could beat the campaign on Legendary by myself, something not all of my friends could do.
But I see what you mean OP, I was impressed by Halo 3’s gameplay and enjoyed the game quite a bit. I probably had about 2000 to 3000 games played in Halo 3. But nothing like I did with Halo 2, which was probably like 6000 to 7000. Man, Halo 2 online was most addictive. Reach I only have about 1000 games played.
