A perfect way to describe what I’m talking about is the Athlon armour in halo 5. It looked like a football player.
Even some other armours had numbers on their shoulders or chest plate.
Even tho I hated the sparatn charge it was akin to how football players bash into each other in real life.
The entire breakout experience also was “sports” like. It felt like paintball or airsoft matches. Same hated the breakout floors but it also gave a “sports” vibe.
The breakout arena itself. A floating ship that held the breakout matches. All of this felt like I was in a stadium where sports are being played. I wish they made use of the screen that was there to show the score that would’ve been cool.
Over all I miss that vibe of Halo looking more like a sport. I would love if breakout came back and replicated this vibe. I also hope more sports themed armours come back. There should be jersey style colors and emblems. That’s something I’d actually pay for as a cosmetic.
I would also like stadium style maps where you can see people cheering in the background. I think something like this would be super cool for HCS. An even cooler idea is being able to spectate a match while in the game and your character would be virtually sitting in the audience watching a side/top down veiw of the arena.

Sorry to disagree, but the sporty vibe really turned me off of Halo 5. I kind of liked the Breakout map visual style but that was really about it.

I did say I hate it. I’m just pointing out that it added to the sports vibe
I think it makes sense. These are Spartans in training so why wouldn’t they look at it as a sport.
They way I veiw it is sparatns win a game and then they go into the back room and watch the highlights like a super bowl game. Even the starting/ending animation of a match had players high fiving eachother making it feel like a Sunday evening paintball match
I find it ironic that a lot of the community wanted the “Toy” or “Sporty” looking armors to disappear, yet most of those same people complain about a lack of customization. Like, we’re really shooting ourselves in the foot on that one lmfao. I thought some of the H5 armors over did it, but there were definitely still a ton of great ones. Hopefully we see a good amount return.

I definitely don’t like toy looking armours. I don’t like plastic ones either. Halo 5 and Halo infinite has these. Especially with the HCS skins in halo infinite. They look like action figures.
I don’t recall people saying they didn’t like sporty armour specifcally.
I also think armours like the Athlon did it perfect. I do agree that there is some over done/ over baked sporty armours that are really ugly
I did think Athlon was a pretty cool set of armor.
