I miss the DMR. Also I actually prefer the new shotgun because it feels more useful in situations were the OG shotguns would fail because of their poor range and slow firerates.
yeah I notice this too, the weapons are always very situational, which makes the AR feel overpowered if you stick to older Halo mentality with the BR being the all-round-goto weapon. I like this in that they are trying to make all weapons good, but I feel Halo 5 did it a bit better in that all weapons had a place in a larger gradient of ranges, the only issue was that from a gameplay perspective, it never really mattered which weapon you picked up as long as you used it within it’s gradient. Now you have to make the choice: Short range (ar, pulse carbine, sidekick), Med-Range (br, commando), Long Rang (sniper, that red gun), Anti-Vehicle (rockets, skewer, Sentinel),
Supplemental (emp pistol, shock rifle).
It makes some engagements frustrating because you may end up in a situation were you can’t engage a target because the situation changes (they always do).

Bulldog can’t get an overkill because it’s a 2 shot kill and it only has 7 rounds. The gun’s just bad.
That shock pistol is a chrome plated turd and i never use it, the mangler tho if used close to mid range is worth its weight in gold

The gun is balanced. That is my point. Its strong enough to give you an edge, that’s about it.
Dude same. This thing is basically a melee weapon that’s harder to use. You shoot once and then punch, that’s it. Maybe if it had 15 feet longer reach and slightly higher damage per pellet, I’d want to use it more often. Doesn’t feel like it has a place in competitive play at all except to finish off an escaping melee victim.
I’m not gonna sit here and tell you it’s a powerful gun, but I’ll share some advice in case you ever find it in you hands again.
It’s a 6 shot body kill. The electricity will kill after some time, preventing shield regen. They only why to save yourself from this is to use Overshields.
The arc effect kicks in after 3 shots. Do this 3 times for a kill.
It’s more of a fight starter where you land 3 or 6 shots for the arc damage, then switch to a more lethal gun to “speed things” up.
Like it said, it’s not that good, but it’s unique if anything. Hope this helps.

Sniper is ONLY balanced because of its high skill ceiling. Imagine if you only needed body shot to get a 1 shot kill, that is what the old shotgun was. Nah man, I like higher skillgaps.

Did you just compare the infinite range sniper to the limited range shotgun? Of course a 1 shot body kill from across the map would be broken. Good thing the shotgun can’t do that.
The skill of the Shotgun wasn’t where to aim, it was when to use it. Its purpose was to overpower melee. Before that crazy range buff it got in 4-5 it could only 1 shot kill at point blank. Anything farther would probably get you killed.
And if a 1 shot body kill is the hill you wanna die one wait till you find out about the Rocket launcher.
Ok I like CE Magnum, so they need to make Magnum into a spawning weapon… You see how silly this logic is? There are a LOT of weapons from previous Halos that I would like to see return, but I find this whole conversation to be without tact or meaning.
If we’re talking about the instakill shotgun (what was it technically called btw?) being in BTB it would work fantastically, it would be absurdly broken in 4v4. It would be better than Rockets, better than Snipe, better than any of the powerups, etc. Just as an example, oddball would be extremely easy because your team could just force enemy team into bad positions and net tons of free kills, and it would make setups far stronger.
There are lots of other weapons that would add more the game I might add, OG shotty would just give nostalgia and add nothing really to the game (as its similar to Energy Sword)
Edit: BTB is where crazy new/old weapons should be included in, 4v4 is more structured and is more difficult to balance.
what good is a shotgun that cant oneshot an enemy within a 5-7ft radius? sure i like this one has a longer reach, but i mean it just doesnt feel like a shotgun at all. it just needs a buff to one shot kill within a close range
Absolutely! We need the new AND the old shotgun! I love the Halo 5 shotgun skin most of all the older titles. Which one is your favourite?
OG Shotgun is way better. It’s a power weapon, a shotgun is meant to be insanely LETHAL at point blank, as in 1 shot and you’re a wall painting lethal. The Bulldog is a nerf gun, and I kind of hate it.
