I miss the old shotgun

Does anyone else miss the shotgun? It’s a staple of halo. I don’t understand why it was removed. It was a good weapon that wasn’t over powered since it was a situational weapon.

Yeah, they removed so many nice and iconic weapons. The classic shotgun should’ve been here with many others.

They we be adding more old style weapons in BTB they have already stated this in a passed blog post.

They haven’t mentioned the old shotgun and magnum since last year. They aren’t in the game now and that’s what matters, not that they might come a year from now.

The 8 gauge shotgun is a power weapon. They’ve already mentioned that the new 12 gauge bulldog “isn’t suppose to replace it, that there is a different HUMAN weapon in the sandbox that replaces the old shotgun”. Is what 343 said in a interview once. But I don’t see any weapon in the sandbox now that replaces the shotgun. And the new shotgun is definitely not a power weapon. Sure some people I’ve seen can use it effectively, but when you are fighting Two people at once it’s garbage. The old 8gauge shotgun needs to return. You can get bulltrues with the new shotgun

Yeah, cool classic design, gone, now it hits like a wet noodle and the level three drill for it is broken too.

I’m not too fond on the Bulldog, it’s growing on me with every game I use it but you’ll never replace the OG shotgun in my opinion.

I still have yet to understand why they would replace the iconic design of the shotgun and pistol. It makes no sense to me.

With the pistol they could have AT LEAST added a full handguard and I would have been happy with that.

Yup, I really hope it gets added back in at some point. I miss countering a sword charge with a shotgun blast, the bulldog pellet gun doesnt compete.

No. Bulldog is better. No longer will you just get 1 shot by someone camping in a corner. Bulldog is strong but fair.

OG shotgun looked cool, but damn was it infuriating.

Man that’s something that happens in game, you could be killed by a camper with melee from behind or the energy sword, that means we should remove them?
Like @Danny_Buttermen said, it was nice when killing a sword welding player with one good timed shot, some bad experiences shouldn’t mean that’s the game is better without it.

I wouldn’t even call the classic shotgun a power weapon in the current sandbox. I can see in a world where the AR sucks with it being so. But with how potent the AR is (which im fine with btw) The scenarios where I wish I had the bulldog over the AR are few and far between.

So you believe that flanking someone with a ninja and shooting someone in the face with a shotgun is equivalent?

Also different, you have to lunge each time, putting you at risk. Regardless, both weapons serving same purpose is probably not good design.

What 4v4 map even has a sword and shotgun on it? I can’t think of any. Maybe Launchsite? Also pretty pointless argument.

You could one shot someone from a sniper, without being put at risk.
You could be at risk if you have a shotgun, like grenades and stuff, or shooting the shotgun wielder from afar, you could get killed but once and you know their position you got ways to deal with them.

It isn’t pointless, those situations happened in others Halo, it’s a good way to win a gunfight if a sword/gravity hammer player is near you, because it requires good timing and it isn’t easy to do. Maybe there is less chance to have a sword and the bulldog both in a Infinite game, but that doesn’t mean that the shotgun shouldn’t exist, if it existed these situation would happen more no?.

I miss it too. There are some videos of Campaign footage showing us that there will be weapon variants, so we might still get the original shotgun.

yes clearly the skill level to land a headshot and the skill level to shoot in someone’s general direction is equivalent, good try though.

Instead of trying to win arguments, try to learn something and (possibly) offer some interesting and unique perspectives of your own. My argument (at its core) is infallible. Your argument is that just because its broken (or extremely unfan to be used against) doesn’t mean it should be removed is awful. Maybe in BTB super OP weapons, vehicles, items etc. aren’t as broken, but for 4v4 it’ll have only a negative effect on the MP.

Oh no. It made people use strategy instead of just running blindly with no thought.

I disagree. It’s been in all of the other halos and for the most part, no one had an issue Auth it. A camper might get one but after that I’ll grenade then and finish them before they can close the distance.

This also gets in to map control versus the new, world of run and gun with zero thought or strategy.

Have you watched any of the Halo Qualifiers? They’re going on right now. You’ll notice that a double kill with the Bulldog is rare, and I don’t believe I’ve seen any triple kills or overkills either. You’ll also notice that Bulldog is far from being a power weapon like it was in prior Halos, often players will struggle to get even one kill with it, whereas if it were like previous Halos they would’ve went on sprees/frenzys no problem. Another thing that is interesting to me is just how close essentially every single game is, this means that the sandbox isn’t as abusive as it was in past Halos, I doubt we’ll see any dynasty in this game like we did prior.

Edit: pro play tends to ‘expose’ how good or bad weapons are, that is why its important.

I didn’t imply that, but getting one shotted by others weapons without having the time to respond and without having the right gun happens.

You left the part when I was talking about knowing where the camper is after being killed, It is not COD it is harder to camp one spot, once you know he is there you can deal with him easily .

The guns is situational too, you cant win gunfight with it at more than medium range.

Now we have a “spammy” shotgun that any camper can still kill you if you’re near.
