I miss playing Halo

O I remember the days when I would get home from school, invite my friends over to play halo 1 at my house for hours. We would all laugh, gasp when someone pulled off anything triple kill or higher, and a lot of profanity as well. Needless to say my folks never liked this game. Then I remember how excited we all where on the arrival for Halo 2.

Time seem to stand still with our anticipation, but when it finally arrived we didn’t sleep unless the controller was in our hands. If I would have been murdered outlined in chalk would have been a s type. Everyday there was something to look forward to, even finding the scarab gun was amazing. We went to tournaments, won some lost more. Got beat by xit wounds for a xbox 360. When I finally started to get a little board the map packs they released where amazing. Once again the fight continued. We all were given a true gift with that game. Then Halo 3 came out.

I knew things where changing for the worst, when bungie employees all where saying they where being rushed by microsoft to complete there deadline. It was still a great game, halo at heart but only on a mlg level. This however opened the door of what seems is now a industry standard. The rush to make the game instead of taking the time to make it right. As in Halo reach.

I bought halo reach, played for a week. I quit after losing a dmr duel n which the player was absolute turned around and spam shot five times compared to my paced shots and won. Don’t comment I looked at the vid me and him only, and my cursor was glued to his skull. When I heard Halo 4 was on the way a bought reach for a second time to knock off some rust, and did grow to enjoy the game to a degree. Reach just felt like a shot of halo instead of a strong drink. However, Halo for is like drinking a non alcoholic version of the stout drink halo used to be.

In order for me to play Halo 4 I had to buy a hard drive. A little upset that I had a zip file disk instead of a game disk but so what. I finally am able to play and to my horror the fundamentals that made this franchise great where ripped away. This post is obviously a nostalgic reference for the best gaming experience of my life. I just wanted to tell the ones out there that may feel, or had a similar experience.

Yay drama!
Just sayin, those old skool halo games are still in stores, on ebay, and still playable.

You have lost all credit from me and many others on this forum.

You can’t be taken seriously if you quit a game because of one measly kill.

Your post is asking for a flame war. ;/

It was a series of events just like that one. This was just the finally straw. Also excuse me for preferring a accurate game.

I suggest you watch this video :http://slumz.boxden.com/f13/halo-4-review-hd-gameplay-they-have-ruined-franchise-video-1840203/

It highlights how a lot of us feel, and has a lot of good points.

If you don’t like it, don’t play it.

I am all over it. Thank you sir

I was under the impression that a new Halo was made, not a remade version of Halo 2.

> I was under the impression that a new Halo was made, not a remade version of Halo 2.

This game is just a remade version of Halo/COD, it is not NEW. I am not saying COD was the first to implement these features, but they are the only game to use all of them, and Halo 4 copied a ton of them.

-killstreaks
-perks
-loadouts
-instant respawn
-killcams
-sprint

Yeah this game is not new or revolutionary. It is a cheap knockoff and is very generic. What makes Halo a unique shooter now? It just plays really similarly to every other fps console shooter out there.

If you bothered to read the rest of the post than you would see that he got Reach again before 4 came out and grew to like it. You have lost all credit from me and many others on this forum.

You can’t be taken seriously if you make a post without reading the whole thing.

Agreed me friend.

For me choosing a videogame franchise to stay loyal to is like choosing the woman your gonna love.
You want one who stands out from the rest, one who makes you happy, and one your gonna love even in the bad times.

Halo 4 has been made to be like Call of Duty so it no longer has that feel that made it stand out.
When I look at Halo 4, I no longer see the smoke billowing through the air, dirt crashing from explosions, bullets flying, and Falcons being tailed by Banshees in the air. And then slowly from behind a hill. A figure starts to rise, a god-like metallic machine with a glowing orange visor that makes me feel like I want to be him.

I will have to wait and hope to find another riduur.

I won’t when bungie comes out with there new game. Until then I making lemonade.

Seriously? Okay, let me ask you a question, how will you make a Halo matchmaking? What new ideas can you make?

And there is no kill streaks… Trust me… You’re looking at a CoD player…

It feels good to know I am not alone. With all these people telling me to kick rocks and move on all the time, starts to make think my opinion really doesn’t mean anything.

LOL, you’re not even close to alone. Look at Halo 4’s population online. Most of the people who feel the same way as you and I just stop playing.

Considering Halo 3 was the most popular game I would have built on that without changing the CORE gameplay mechanics.

I would have done the following:
-updated graphics
-updated sound
-added a couple of new weapons
-new maps
-Refined the ranking system to make it even better and more accurate
-Added the customization features that are in Halo 4.
-Added onto instead of detracting from the forge/custom game options.
-Add a couple of new playlists instead of the current pathetic offering
-kept regional matchmaking to ensure lag free games not removed it
-kept the social/ranked to separate those that want to relax from those who are trying their hardest

Is that good enough for you? How can you stick up for a game that is giving you less features than previous games such as limited forge/customs, no ranked, and no regional matchmaking?

Can you explain the fundamental difference between a killstreak and a personal ordinance? They serve the same purpose and ordinances are even more dumbed down, because you do not even need consecutive kills to receive the strongest killstreaks. You can get “distractons” and have done very little and get rewarded with rockets.

Oh, oh, click this! Second page

I do miss the old Halo but I feel like these arguements are kind of hypocritical. People criticize Call of Duty every year for being the same. Halo makes some changes, and next thing you know, everyone is throwing a fit. Let me take a quick look at what you said you would do to improve Halo:

Updated graphics: Don’t act like they didn’t do this already. Have you seen them?
Updated sound: Again, already done.
Added a couple of new weapons: Already done. Were promethean weapons here before? The storm rifle? Rail gun? SAW?
New maps: Already done. They may not be the greatest maps ever made, but the point is they still did it.
Refined the ranking system to make it better and more accurate: They did change the ranking system. It might not be great, but what do you have in mind?
Added the customization features that are in Halo 4: What? So you like the loadout changes? Maybe I’m getting you wrong here, but I thought that was one of your main criticisms.
Added onto instead of detracting from the forge/custom games options: Now here you have a point.
Added a couple of new playlists instead of the current pathetic offering: Opinions. I kind of like being able to play just oddball if I feel like it, or flood whenever I want.

Your other criticisms are understandable. But most seem to me like contradictions. I like the game, and since 343 is planning weekly updates for it, I think it is going to get bigger fast. Give it time.

I have noticed a trend, everyone defends this game argument goes flat as fast a coca cola bottle in runners hands in a marathon race. All I see from the other side is finger pointing, but with no logical reasoning. “How would make the game?” A list of logical responses then silence or my favorite which is “go play the old halo’s again.” Amazing, do they realize the reason this series survived is because of it huge loyal fan based that they’re leaving in the dark.
