Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love how Halo 5 brought back the “Halo feeling” that I think was lost with Halo 4. But one thing that 343 moved away from that I don’t agree with is the sounds of the Covenant weapons. I miss the airy, kind of ethereal feel that Bungie’s Covenant weapons had, instead of this hard-projectile ish sound we have now, ya feel?
I’m totally with you… The energy sword’s new sound is a disaster when you know what it used to sound like. That crashing, glass-plasma hybrid sound was terrifying and badass… Now it’s just some generic sci-fi sound found on a $0.99 soundboard.
RIP the needle rifle, man that gun was good.
I miss the plasma rifle, it just looked so awesome.
The Storm Rifle is just such a visual downgrade.
I totally thought that this was going to be about the shield/health effectiveness modifiers on covenant weapons, not the sound effects. I really liked the distincion between kinetic and plasma damage in earlier games.
That said, it would be nice if they mixed some higher range effects into the existing storm rifle firing sounds, it is a bit thumpy.

Neither of those are covenant weapons. I miss the needle rifle and the concussion rifle.

Visually I miss the old Fuel Rod gun. Def miss the concussion rifle and plasma rifle too.
