I miss NOT having VEHICLE HEALTH

Seriously, Halo 2 and 3 were the golden age for vehicles (especially 2).

Vehicles weren’t actually all that powerful (except for the Skorpian in 2) yet they were resistant to small arms fire and could only be killed by either killing the driver, hitting a weakspot, hijacking, or explosives.

In Reach, vehicle killtimes were upped but vehicle were given health, or a TIMER in other words because as soon as your vehicle took enough damage from ANYTHING, it would blow up.

Now we have so many counter vehicle weapons, the ability to spawn with plasma pistols and plasma grenades, weaker vehicle damage, and we STILL have vehicle health?

It is no wonder why the warthog and ghost remain unused during many of the matches I have played.

I think vehicles should ALL be resistant to small arms fire but should have weakspots like the ghost in Halo 2. There are so many ways to take out a vehicle now that just blindly shooting at it with a DMR, BR, or AR shouldn’t do anything to it unless you are hitting the driver.

In regards to the plasma pistol, I think that because you can spawn with it, it should be less effective against vehicles. It should only slow a vehicle down a little bit rather than stopping it in its tracks.

All in all, I barely see a difference between the vehicles in this game and Reach. Vehicles aren’t supposed to have health. And if they do, it should be visible like it was in Halo CE and should restore after a short period of not getting shot.

Vehicles didn’t have a health bar in CE. They were indestructible. :
At least not in multiplayer, as far as I recall.

I strongly agree. I feel that the Warthog has lost its status as a formidable vehicle that required teamwork to operate it or to take it down.

Do you remember in Reach when who ever got into a banshee got an instant running riot unless you somehow got the rocket launcher? Do you want that garbage again?

Interesting thing about the Halo 4 Hog is that if you’re on the gunner seat and it gets stuck, you don’t take damage. This was noticed way before release and is still very noticeable (in my testing on Requiem with 11 skulls on, this was actually a life saver in some cases).

I’m guessing Halo 4 has a hybrid vehicle health system. Afaik, Halo 4’s vehicles does have some health recharging but only if the bars (a la CE campaign vehicles) are still intact.

> Do you remember in Reach when who ever got into a banshee got an instant running riot unless you somehow got the rocket launcher? Do you want that garbage again?

Do you not remember the tactical planning with your team to take it down? Arranging for a Grenade Launcher, Plasma Pistol, etc.? The launching of the assault to take it down? Then looking back and realizing what you just did and saying “I actually did that. That was badass!”

The whole scramble to take down a vehicle made the team work together and that is what made Halo fun.

I agree. I hate these paper-mache vehicles

Correct.

Though they were also toppled easily by grenades and had insane physics. Balanced in my opinion.

That’s the entire point of a vehicle. Not to get one kill and then die. Vehicles are killing machines that require coordination or other vehicles to take out.

> Do you remember in Reach when who ever got into a banshee got an instant running riot unless you somehow got the rocket launcher? Do you want that garbage again?

Lol all it took was 3 DMRs shooting at a banshee, and it’d die in a second. What OP wants is Halo 2/3 vehicles. Those vehicles didn’t have the overpowered banshee bomb, like Reach did.

Vehicle combat in Halo 2 and 3 was much better than it was in Reach and Halo 4. :frowning:

I recently played a 5v5 LAN CTF game on Halo PC, and the physics of the Hog was just crazy. Like, my friend and I were in a Hog, and there was one lone enemy in another Hog’s turret, shooting at us. So, I decide to ram directly into his stationary vehicle. However, WE ended toppling end over end through the air, and he was left untouched.

This is one of the reasons I still love Halo PC today.

Wanna know a CRAZY one? Ride over a tank in a ghost and hold space. You will fly like 20 feet in the air and do a backflip.

Or turn your mouse while going over a hill to do a 360 in midair.

$15 spent and still vastly superior to Halo 4…

Sadly you won’t see exploits like that in modern gaming.

Don’t be an idiot. The reason why the banshee dominated all was because its unbelievable evade ability. You might be able to get one or two shots on it max before it evades and bugs out.

I feel that with all the Anti-Vehicle weapons in halo 4 that maybe the old system might work. But at the same time, I played Battlefield 3 and that had Vehicles that if used properly would render a whole team of anti-Vehicle weapons useless. I like this system allot better. There is no being dominated by a skilled driver in this.

I brought a flashdrive with the Halo PC demo on it to my Video Game Design class one day and a dozen people installed it onto their hard drives. There’s something pretty grand about sitting next to your two best friends while you are all playing Halo CE on your own separate screens.

Also, what was the point of the space bar/Left trigger for the Ghost? Did Bungie feel the need to add a “make yourself faceplant onto the concrete” button?

I feel there should be a buff to resistance to small arms fire while in a vehical (obviously not if they are landing the hits directly on your spartan)

but i dont feel very powerful in a normal vehical anymore when in halo 3 you could survive quite along time in a warthog on sandtrap by being clever but now vehicals do feel like they are good for 1 or 2 encounters and that it
(dont get me wrong vehicals much better than reach great work 343i)

but like OP said with plasma pistols and plasma grenades at spawn the problem seems to be more everyone being able to counter vehicals rather tan anything wrong with the vehicals themselves so i agree make plasma pistol slow a vehical rather than stop them

a waith isnt scary if 1 man with a plasma pistol can charge at it and win
(possible keep its effectiveness for aircraft)

and the plasma grenade maybe nerf it so it only sticks to spartans not vehicals?
that way can still be badass and take out a hog with epic stick to driver but stops nade spam with no aim being so effective (but still stick banshees cause that is badass when you pull that off)

anyone else agree?
plasma pistol nerf to only slow vehicals?
&
plasma grenades only stick spartans and aircraft?

Do you not remember people typically play in teams these days? Vehicle health is there and it’s not as off as it did in Reach. The Banshee has less health, the Warthog has more health without being a dominating factor in games. The Ghost has a high defense from the front but is weak from the sides and the tank is still a tank.

Operator also makes vehicles play a bit better if running and gunning ina FPS isnt your style

Vehicles definitely had health in Halo 3, it just didn’t work the same as it does in Reach and Halo 4.

Going by memory, the more damaged a vehicle was in Halo 3, the more damage the occupants would take. A Ghost, for example, could take two Plasma Grenade sticks. After the first, however, no amount of waiting time would save the Ghost from blowing up after the second stick.

I’ve never been a big fan of vehicles, but their role in Halo 4 is somewhat confusing to me. They functioned as power weapons in Halo 3 (easy to use power weapons, but power weapons no less), but now they’re fairly easy to take down.

Also, I do have to agree with Plasma Pistol spawns making some vehicles incredibly weak. I definitely use that to my advantage, but I would also just as quickly grab a Plasma Pistol for the same purpose on Halo 3/Reach.

Plasma Pistols don’t just spawn on maps, though. That’s the issue. You either grab one off spawn, or you don’t have one. This also makes running out of ammo an issue. I constantly find myself being forced to get killed because I’m out of DMR ammo.

Well there’s always Gauss Canon “Untouchable even if you suck at the game” Warthog on Exile. :stuck_out_tongue:

(For example, search my user name (Vamphaery) from within File Share in-game and watch “Ulti Roll 2.” (Not Dingo Roll 2.) Something like 35 kills, 1 death.)

If vehicles were tougher, that thing would be even more OP than it already is. They really need to nerf it, or replace the tank with another one of them for the opposing team.

> The Banshee has less health

Actually, as stated in the 343 podcast, the banshee has MORE health. Still paper tier.
