I loved completing commendations such as weapon mastery, splatters, etc. It was nice to have some overarching career-long goals to check periodically. Definitely sad to see them absent from Infinite.
Agreed. Commendations where one of my favorite things from halo 5. The weapom Commendations made super Fiesta so much fun, even if it was an unevenly matched game guaranteed to lose. I still had something to strive for besides getting the game over with. 343 missed an opportunity to use them for some skins or even extra xp for the battle pass
I totally agree. There is a total lack of meaningful progression in Infinite and it’s really disappointing. I mean, I can’t even see how my actual gameplay progresses because, so far as I can tell, there’s no real Service Record or genuine stat tracking.
I can’t unlock cool things by doing specific tasks in the game, I’m not rewarded for good play and I am unable to evaluate my improvement (or lack thereof) over time. There’s a lot about the game that feels half-baked. That said, the core gameplay is amazing and the maps, albeit a slim selection, are really good. The game is fun to play, but it’s all the other stuff that is either poorly executed or missing entirely.
Commendations have been in Halo in some capacity since Reach and one of the biggest requests for infinite besides the xp/challenges debacle is an overall career experience system to show how long people have played and what they’ve done. I feel like bringing the commendations back but updated to something like Destiny’s triumph system would be a great answer to these problems and more.
You could display your commendation score on your emblem and know at a glance how long someones played, earn xp towards your battle pass which helps that whole problem, and get shaders or emblems for completing some too.
