I mean there are like 10,000 different names on there… That kinda shows how many peaple play it.
That’s not that many….
You lost me at the third y in way.
Well, I mean this is pretty standard. I think this is tame here, if you compare to old Bnet Halo fans.
And we are talking about a game that had normal betraying for the sniper and invented teabagging. Halo has always been kinda immature and asinine.
Halo Wars 2 is highly under appreciated. Blitz is SOOOOO fun!
Lol can they cater to the, in their words, 70% of us who just want to play slayer?
Much of the “butthurt” you’re seeing here is because 343 created game systems which don’t respect the player, and essentially treat them as a cow to be milked. Doing things like creating random challenges which rely on chance rather than time or skill in order to complete is such bad and disrespectful design that there’s simply no way it can be something that a major, multi-million dollar developer did on accident. Literally all I’ve seen is people questioning these decisions - why were they made, what was their purpose, how likely is it that they will be changed on a fundamental level? If nothing else, it’s pretty interesting to think about game development using this as a case study.
That isn’t anywhere close to the same thing as personally attacking little Timmy who just works on textures and models. Criticizing a corporate product doesn’t automatically equate with spitting in the face of individual members of the development team, and that’s not a way to say that the criticism is illegitimate. The way some people talk it’s like you just have to uncritically consume without thinking about anything.
People are just really fed up with 343 at this point. I am a big Halo fan like all of you, and there are parts of all of 343’s games that are absolutely fantastic, but there are also parts that drives me insane. I feel all of their games are a mix of fantastic and terrible in such a dynamic and uneven way that I can’t simply call them good/okay/bad, because they can be amazing games. Halo Infinite is one of those games.
Halo 4 provided great storytelling, high production value and fun new game modes that are severely underrated (Regicide anyone?), but it did a lot of damage to the lore/logic, and introduced unfair MP with killstreaks and upgradeable loadouts.
Halo 5’s campaign actually gets a ton of flack, but it is actually amazing at times. I played through the game not too long after Series X’s launch, and the large scale environments and vistas along with the fantastically underrated soundtrack (the final push with the Mantis on Sanghelios is very epic) makes for intense moments that prior games never delivered. The visual design and graphics of the game also shine so much more at 4k with HDR which makes the game look amazing, which is something it didn’t do on Xbox One. The gameplay might not be what we consider Halo, but when it works it feels so smooth and fun. We have all heard the negatives of the campaign though, so I won’t bring those up again.
TLDR is basically that for every step 343 takes forward, they take another step backwards. This time, the gameplay, graphics and the artstyle are totally spot on, but many negatives are as negative as the positives are good. People are tired of 343 learning from their mistakes, only to make bizarre new ones that shouldn’t happen.
But death threats and other crap on reddit targeted towards devs is not okay the entire halo reddit was shut down temporarily and now the mods scour through posts on reddit due to people’s immaturity.
Don’t get me wrong I’m all for criticism but it needs to be constructive and needs to provide feedback and way to fix it that suits the player base and not just an individual
This is what “everyone gets a trophy “ system has created. A lot of self entitle mommies special flower individuals that feel everything in the world needs to fit them. Call me a boomer I don’t care but I see a lot of potential with this game and yet it is being absolutely crucified by one of the most toxic communities I have ever seen.
Id have more proof if moderators didn’t remove it all……it’s gotten to the point where mods watch the Reddit very closely
add h at beginning of links (won’t let me post links) first one is about the Reddit being temporarily shut down second link is the actual Reddit itself for halo

All emotional nonsense that doesn’t address the core of the criticism the game is receiving or acknowledge that it could be legitimate.
Everyone defending the clearly anti-consumer design decisions made in this game is doing so simply by repeating the same buzzwords as if they magically absolve the product itself of criticism. “Someone on Reddit threatened a developer. Entitled. It’s literally free. Toxic community.”
It’s really simple: 343 didn’t just create the poorly designed systems in this game on accident. The challenge system is clearly the core design philosophy around which all other systems were created, and it is one of the worst possible ways they could have implemented monetization. It’s the reason there are only a handful of curated playlists which rely on RNG and don’t allow you to select specific game modes. It’s the reason players don’t play the objective and quit or throw matches. It’s the reason the challenges themselves are frustrating to complete and rely more on chance than skill, and the reason they conveniently sell challenge swaps to solve the problem they designed into the game.
In order to fix the game and show actual good will toward players, they have to completely change all of these things. This shouldn’t be seen as controversial or entitled to ask for, because all it’s really asking for is that the game respect the player’s time and stop treating them like cattle to be milked.
There is frankly no defense for the way these systems are designed, except for some type of deflection. No one like you or other consumers who are perplexingly trying to absolve the game from these criticisms ever addresses them directly, you always either conflate the criticism with toxic behavior or unbelievably state that the design behind these systems wasn’t intentional. And 343’s responses have been much the same.
Ok now you are putting words in my mouth and I honestly think you are trolling at this point. When did I ever say people don’t have the right to be angry? I just literally said in my OP that I understand the anger towards 343 because I am one of those people myself. I don’t like the lack of playlists and I don’t like the over monetization. I quite literally said that.
I said feedback that consists of personally attacking devs like the reason why the Halo sub-reddit got shut down isn’t feedback. Personally insulting and attacking devs isn’t criticism. It’s immature insults like a grade schooler and is far from necessary. If some can’t criticize a dev without personally attacking them, wishing death upon them and their family and whatever else was on that sub-reddit they honestly need some outside air.
I’m far from a fanboy and a shill when it’s come to infinite. You can criticize a dev without going overboard on it and if you think that personal attacks on a dev is warranted, you need a reality check.
