I’m cheated out of so many melee kills every day

even when I hit first and can HEAR the hit connecting I do no damage. how is something so basic and has been perfected by every other game in the past 20 years or so inconsistent here

It’s been very inconsistent on MM in every Halo. But, let’s remember that originally in Halo 3, the Melee kill was based on who did more damage. I enjoyed this feature, once known, cause I could ensure I did more damage before trying to tunnel vision into the Melee. - It was patched to do trade-offs instead, which has its flaws as well.

While, I’m suspicious that Infinite may have a similar feature, I don’t think it does - Atleast, I haven’t seen anyone mention this yet.

It could mostly be related to the desync issues that many are mentioning, where what you see on your screen is different than what’s on the server. :man_shrugging:

This plays into the poor hit detection/lag issue with the game. They do need to address this as quickly as possible. It makes the game unplayable when you’re getting shot around corners.

I just don’t like it when I fire off several rounds with my ‘BR’ dead center into my opponent’s chest area, melee them, and they’re still alive because either the shots or melee didn’t register. Meanwhile, they miss every shot in my direction and then teleport through me and get a ‘back smack’ on me in a ‘Ranked Arena: Slayer’ match. I wish we had more control over the servers we connected to in the default menu. I believe that would alleviate some of the desync issues, but not all of them. Please only connect me to ‘US’ servers; and yes I know you can chose what servers you connect to if you tinker around with notepad and stuff, but I’m not willing to do all of that, just give us an official option!

for surs though, this is almost TF2 levels of bad hit detection. at least TF2 has the excuse of using old af servers. but halo infinite was in development since 2015-2021, those are very recent servers, and they didn’t bother to get the best ones? or have better net coding?
‘oh but h3 had it, so it’s fine for a halo game’ oh shut your yap yap boy. just because halo 3 had it, doesn’t mean every other halo game has to also have bad net coding. look at reach, 4, and 5. the net coding on those RECENT HALO TITLES have been pretty good, much better than this pile of nonsense. getting shot behind walls, shots not registering, melee hits not registering, a lot of desynce…

For the melee kills challenge try to get the mangler then its one shot and melee and you get a kill. I found its much more consistent then doing just a melee after other weapons

Oh give me a break. “it’s been inconsistent in every halo game.” No it has not. This sort of underhanded way of being like “I don’t know why you’re complaining when it’s always like this”. No, bro. I’ve never had someone punch a wall and get a melee kill on me in halo CE, 2,3 or reach. End it.

Its impossible to play this game without experiencing the wonky melee hit registration. I just played a game where I had to slash the same enemy 3 times with the sword before he fell over. I’d say its the desync which hopefully gets looked into.

Melee is a very important part of Halo and Melee desyncs along with the other desyncs make the game totally unenjoyable.

Seeing as half of 343 employees were actually just temp workers from Randstad, I can see why this game is so wonky and seems put together with DuckTape and filler tree glue with a pretty just get it out the door rushed content.

Cross core customization was not added in as well since they want to force players to the strictest limitations on customization to get as much money out of you for repeated items.

For example Scarlet red was renamed and rebundled for each core. They sold us three bundles with the same color by restricting cross core customization.

The executives instructed their staff, temps as well to restrict the player customization as much as they could.

I’m cheated out of kills period. Heres the issues I have:

Melees don’t register
Shots don’t register
Shots go around corners
Grenade damage is unpredictable

It is that “phase through” stuff that messes it up. Phase through shouldn’t be a thing and makes no sense. I think they only did it as quite a few of the multiplayer maps are cramp and players bumping into each other probably messed with the game play. So they added “phase through” rather than make better more open maps.

Ah, it’s not just me? Thank God, I thought I was going mental! Most commonly what happens to me is that I go into cover and then drop dead, and the kill feed tries to convince me the guy I was fighting shot me in the head with the sidekick.

True, that’s one thing I agree with, I backsmacked a guy cleanly last night and he didn’t die, luckily my friend got the kill on him before he merced me :roll_eyes:

The other issue is the melee thrust, because half the time I don’t get any, which baits me into thinking I’m safe shooting a guy up close. This is an issue because I get killed when he flies forwards as if he has a sword in his hands and kills me, and I’m left feeling confused because when I try that I don’t get any thrust and die an embarrassing death lol

Same here. Core gameplay is fun which makes it more frustrating- I want to like it but it’s broken and needs fixing (which 343 will tend to, it’s just disappointing).

Grenades are giving me a big headache. Very fickle. Throwing a grenade into a small room with 3 drained shields should make me happy but it doesn’t. Big explosions but small damage radius and inconsistent damage. And dying seems to cancel out last ditch throws, robbing me of from the grave kills where I’d land it previously.

Melee is ok but inconsistant which is bonkers- I’ve heard my hit connect, I’ve seen my elbow hit their helmet but I die. Don’t get me wrong, I suck at multiplayer these days, but not that much… Thank god I can’t find my stats anywhere but the post game screen :confused:

And let’s not even start on the motion detector… 18m raidus…

Even on the receiving end it’s obvious. Heard an opponent audibly hit me in the back and yet it didn’t do any damage. I punched him twice after he assumed I died.

I’ve never noticed this. I’m not saying it’s not a problem, but maybe it affects on a small portion of players.
