I hated halo 4, the messed up sandbox, the weak vehicles, sprint, and even armor abilities.
However, i loved the halo 5 beta… it felt like a true sequel to halo 3. A balanced weapon sandbox, a lot more melee in combat and no jetpacks etc etc. It felt right. I actually really enjoyed it. The beta as is felt like a true sequel and was FUN. Add in great lore, warzone and blue team and this might be the best halo yet, yes its changed but as a community we have changed.
Halo 3 might have been the staple, and reach and 4 may have had it wrong, but 5 felt like they took the right ideas and moved forward.
What do you think?
I really enjoyed the beta, and feel very similar to you about the reasoning. I’m still on the fence about Warzone - it looks enjoyable, but the vehicles look just as weak as their counterparts in 4. Not to mention the AI seems pretty lackluster (enemies as bullet sponges don’t really emphasize team work or tactics). With the vehicles being a cost to the player over being off spawn (at least until BTB makes an appearance post-launch), you’d think they’d be more viable. Especially since they tend to be weaker in campaign because of their multiplayer balancing.
Still looking forward to the game the most since Halo 2, just weary after tmcc issues/splitscreen and other things being dropped or cut out.

Pretty much my thoughts. However im hoping they buff vehicles
Yeah, have to totally agree. They’ve really listened to the fans but also modernised the game and added in exciting new features.
Things I’m really excited about:
-100% Dedicated servers. No lag!
-Weapon balance seems like it’s balanced on a knife edge and it seems like they’ve really nailed the pistol and Ar/Pistol start this time.
-Warzone looks super fun. JIP will ensure that finding a match is super fast and easy, just hope you can’t join games that are more than 50% lost.
-REQ packs should give us some interesting incentives to keep playing.
-Arena will be where us Halo 2/3 veterans really get stuck in, and with a proper ranking system, finally! Hope your best rank is displayed on your in game nameplate.
-HCS/esports support.
-Balanced implementation of Sprint.
-Looks amazing graphics wise (addendum below).
-Free Maps - no more splitting the community!
-New forge (details still coming obviously).
-Smart scope works really well as a makes-sense piece of sci-fi tech that ties perfectly in with gameplay.
-Exciting new co-op campaign with JIP!!
-Bullet magnetism/hit boxes were a bit off in the beta but I think they’ve managed to find a balance that works really well since then.
-Did I mention the dedicated servers! (SO KEEN, I heard they were also available for custom games, can anyone confirm with sauce please?)
-Thrusterpacks are a blast to use (addendum below)
-Clamber is a quality of life improvement (I’m sure we’ll all find new skilljumps)
Things I’m slightly worried about:
-The super defensive / poke high level play of the beta with players able to thrust+sprint defensively very easily.
-Don’t really care about Ground Pound, never used it.
-Vehicles could do with a buff, Mantis could do with a nerf.
-Time to Kill being slightly too short. It felt way to short in the beta although I understand why they need to be shorter with everyone having more mobility options. I’ve heard it has since been adjusted slightly (yay), does anyone have any confirmation of this, also?
-The AI in warzone being a little bit too dumb. E3 gameplay confirms that they miss about 90% of their shots and the soldiers take three clips of AR to take down, hope the Promethians are less bullet spongey and smarter than they were in Halo 4 both in campaign and warzone. (Their chests seem to open up, you can then shoot that for extra damage I assume, so it’s a matter of accuracy?) Hope the AI camps in warzone do more than just sit there and wait to die like jungle camps in League, hope they attack bases or at least put up more of a fight. They seemed very buffed %damage wise but not very powerful on the whole aiming/ai side. Maybe a way for the game to automatically scale AI dicfficulty based on the skill level of players in the warzone match.
-Some explosions and FX I’ve seen footage of was quite sub-par, hope this gets polished before release.
-I’m really worried the Dedicated servers won’t work as promised in Australia!

Yeah they slowed kill times, no idea bout AI.

Na sorry but Reach sucked balls worse than Halo 4 IMO the only good thing about Reach was Invasion.

Same. Aussie to Aussie, I think
