I love your work on H5, but some details ruin it

Hello everyone, I’m starting this thread because of some things 343 clearly missed on making Halo5, but before we start I want to point out that I love their work on it for the most biggest part, in fact I made lots of threads about that, and I’m very excited for what emotions will bring the Halo 5 Campaign, and I’m also very excited for the big chaos that will bring Warzone, my favourite Halo games are Halo 3 and Halo Reach, and I’m pretty sure Halo 5 will be better than them combined! I also loved the beta so much and I can’t wait to play it.

Now, let’s start with what could be better for this game to really involve me and who else has my thoughts about this great game we’re gonna experience in late October:

  • the Arbiter and Swords of Sanghelios anatomy: I want to point out that I like most of the designs 343 creates for Halo, and I also like the Halo 4 style for Elites, but that anatomy is wrong for the Arbiter and for his Swords of Sanghelios! I remember lots of angry fans by the time Halo 4 came out about the Elites anatomy, then 343 explained why them and all the other Covies have a different anatomy from the old ones, they said those Covies were different because they came from different planets from the old Covies we fouhgt in the past games, and I find it a very cool thing! Now, why does the Arbiter, and Swords of Sanghelios do not look like they should be according to that explenation? theyre anatomy is like Halo 4 elites, and it shouldn’t be like that! I said I love 343 designs, so here’s the right solution for this mistake: if 343 ilkes so much to create new designs why don’t create new armors for the Sowrds of Sanghelios and keep their real anatomy? that would be perfect! they already created a new armor for the Arbiter, then, why also change his anatomy? If he remains as it is I wouldn’t be able to link that Sangheili to the Arbiter, because he has a different anatomy, a different armor and also a different dubber for my language (italian), so that just isn’t him… If this change won’t be made, the Arbiter will never come back for me…

edit: the Arbiter is this, and thisand thisand this, but he surely isn’t this…

edit 2: right anatomy that should be used at least for the Arbiter and hopefully for the Swords of Sanghelios

Update: MORE evidence of the Arbiter having the Halo 4’s mandible style (343 clearly gave him a facial surgery…)

Update 2: Disclaimer: there are some players on these forums that say that the Halo 2 Elites mandibles style was the same as Halo 4 because of this picture, those guys don’t notice that theyre eyes are unvoluntarely mixing the Arbiter’s armor texture with his skin texture, here are some pics of the Halo 2 elites (featuring the same mandibles as Halo CE / 3 / odst / Wars / Reach / CEA and 2A) one, two and three - Also, check this Arbiter pic from another perspective!!! and this video!!!

Update 3: Halo 5 Jul’s faction Elites are the same as Halo 4 (right design for them), but also Swords of Sanghelios and the Arbiter do… (wrong design for them)

  • Armor Customization: It’s been comfirmed that in Halo 5 we will only be able to customize full armors, helmets, visors and gender. I find this a big loss for the game… Everyone likes to have an individual armor on his Spartan, this is the first time I can’t find a reason for you to be removing a feature… I really can’t get it… please add a similar Armor Customization to Halo Reach, everybody loved that so much.

edit: I watched this video to check if 343 said we’ll have mix and matches Armor Customization like Halo Reach for shoulders, knees and forearms, but all they said is we can customize suits, helmets, visors, gender, assassinations animations, weapon skins, emblems and vehicle skins. YES the armor is limited to full suits, helmet and visor (3 options)

  • Firefight: I heard 343 said that if we ask very bad for Firefight they’ll add it as a post-launch DLC, well’ I’m asking it right now, please 343, add a post-launch Firefight DLC, PLEASE!

For the love of Halo, please 343 listen to what I said here, I’m sure I’m not the only one that would ask for these changes.

For me it’s always been the voices that capture the characters and there’s nothing more jarring when they swap over, it’s like replacing Steve Downes as the Master Chief you just can’t get rid of that Keith David goodness. What language did you listen to the trailer in? Did the person who dubbed over the Arbiter in the previous Halo games do a fairly decent job? In order to help me better understand can you post two examples of the foreign dub in Halo 3 and Halo 5 just so I can compare (obviously I can’t speak the language but I think a change will be evident).

Why did you carry this Arbiter thing over from that other post? Seriously, go and look at Thel and then look at Jul ― they don’t look the same. I carried the Arbiter thing because I love that character, and I really care about him  I’m not saying the Arbiter is exactly like Jul,I didn’t even mention Jul, I’m saying his mandibles are different from the past, check this links, in Halo 5 the mandibles “start” behind his eyes and on a higher point than Halo 2/3, if you look at the Halo 5 model there is a part of mandible that you can see through his helmet, and it is clearly different from the past. (If you don’t see it it’s probably because of the light of the room where tha Arbiter is, try to zoom in on this image)

I’m sure you’ll notice some differences.

I’m sorry, but this and this (the Halo 3 Elite model) really, really resemble each other (obviously one is of much higher quality). The Sangheili mandibles have typically protruded from behind the eyes. Even in the the picture you linked, had the helmet been removed, Thel would have had visible bone/ muscle structure stemming from behind his eyes.
Compare this to this and you can see how meticulous 343 were at recreating Thel, all the way from the lining on the front of his face to his teeth.
Here is another good example of the mandibles beginning from behind the eyes.

I do apologize, however, for mistaking you as the person who claimed that Thel and Jul share the same character model. Simple misunderstanding.

People who are trying to play elites in h5 are misunderstanding one thing hit boxes. Its not easy to tune those to a point where the Sh’s are balanced on the same level as spartans. Also tuning along with armor made for them would require too much resources for them to come through in all modes properly.
Armor customization is limited to those three with the large quantity they plan to come out with post launch. Simply because you normally only see your spartans armor in lobby or after you die in game all, and the creative director said himself you will be able to mix and match so i honestly don’t see the big deal i apologize for being ignorant on your behalf.

Umh, dude, this picture is not the Halo 5’s Arbiter model, it is a CGI cutscene done by Blur using the Halo 2 Anniversay models, it almost looks like you’re boycotting my words XD those cutscenes will not be into Halo 5 Guardians, they’re just a cool thing added to MCC to make us curious about Halo 5, if you look at the Cutscene before the Halo 5 E3 demo you’ll notice that that cutscene is the real official version of the one we saw in MCC that we’ll find in Halo 5. (“I’m a Spartan now sir.” “I know who you are” that part!)

Now check these links -> Halo 4 Elites, Halo 5 Jul’s Elites, Halo 5 Arbiter / and Swords of Sanghelios are different from Halo 3 Elites, Halo 2 Anniversary Elites, Halo Reach Elites
As you can see mandibles don’t start that behind eyes and that higher in past games!

I’m not asking for playable ElitesAnd I don’t care if I only see my Spartan in lobby, Customization was there in past games, why decrease it??? it makes NO sense.
(I also take screenshots of my self, cause I like the mixes I make with my armor! check my Halo Reach armor)

Gimme a source for post-launch mix and match

We have yet to see all the things we can use for customization so I think it’s not fair to harshly criticize the game’s customization until we see everything.

Hmm… I definitely do see what you mean. Although, I’d say that the Elite character model is fairly inconsistent, as you can clearly see the mandibles starting to form further back in some shots, then further forward in others. Although, this Arbiter (the original) looks closer to the Halo 5 Arbiter than any of the others (as far as the mandibles go). Do you agree?

Actually, now having really looked into it, it’s clear that the design of the Halo 2 Elite, Halo 3 Elite and Blur cinematic Elites all conflict. Compare the mandibles in this to this. There’s an obvious difference, and like I said in my last reply, I honestly do feel that Thel in Halo 5 stays truer to the original design.

No dude, I can’t XD the same art style has been used for the Halo 3 arbiter, the Halo 3’s is basically a Halo 2 HD Arbiter, check these images: 1, 2, 3, 4 and it definetly looks far different from the Halo 5 model

no dude  if you look at these links you’ll see that the Halo 2 Classic and the Halo 2 Anniversary style are more similar each other than any of them could be with the Halo 4 style!

You just posted four models of the Halo 3 Arbiter. Do you honestly not see how the mandibles protrude from behind the eyes in this? Now compare the mandibles from this (your own link) to this. You’d literally have to be blind to not see the similarities. The Halo 5 Thel clearly looks like an updated version of the Halo 2 Thel. Halo 3 was clearly the first game to make the change, and Blur incorrectly designed the mandibles in H2A. Again — Halo 2, Blur cinematic and Halo 5, It’s not even subjective at this point. Thel, in Halo 2 (the original), factually has mandibles that protrude from behind his eyes, just as he does now in Halo 5.

And just for the hell of it, to make this whole debate super pointless — this.

There’s an obvious difference, and like I said in my last reply, I honestly do feel that Thel in Halo 5 stays truer to the original design.

No, actually, because at least in the Halo 4 variant, the mandibles protrude from behind the eyes, just as they originally did in Halo: CE and Halo 2.

they’re always been protuded from behind the eyes. but not that behind, and not that higher!

the Arbiter looks identical in Halo 2 AND 3, you are blind!!!
**so in Halo 5 it should be like he is in the Halo 2 Anniversary cutscenes featuring Locke.**Don’t you remember all those angry fans back in 2012 when Halo 4 came up because of the Elites style?? Don’t you remember 343 itself explained why they’re different? Read again the main thread.

That was my point in the other thread. The picture you linked of the Halo 5 Arbiter is the Halo 2: Anniversary model, not the Halo 5 one. I love the H2A Halo 5 Arbiter. But the Arbiter at E3 was a Halo 4 Elite model with darker skin.
