Honestly, I’m glad you implemented the ranking choice that you did 343i.
You’ve got my vote! GOTY based on anticipation alone.
I’m not one to complain, if I had a problem with the game I simply would not buy it.
Anyhow, NOVEMBER 6TH BABY!!!

I agree man, all these people whining about how its not visible is pathetic. The visible ranking system has always been a bit of a buzz kill. I know im a decent player and i don’t need a number to remind me of it. I cant believe there are so many people who want the vanity of a big number plastered on their gamer card to “prove” their skill, especially when they just boost or buy an account. Just let your playing show your skill and leave it at that.
Yeah the ranking system is just great! It’s dang near identical to Reach’s system, and we all know how well that game turned out to be! I cannot wait to have a mix of social’s and competitives in every game, and for people to leave and or just stand there every game! I mean why not you still get credits regardless of your performance, yay! Now we’re all special, because developers just want to spoon feed us these days!
Now that nothing matters, I’ll be betraying you for your ordinance drop. See you on the battlefield

Finally someone who agrees with me! Reach was undoubtedly the best halo game ever, it gave us the chance to play without people calling me mean names because of my rank! All those darn boosters and secound accounters were so hard to beat, at least in halo 4 i can get easy kills off of standers and commendation boosters!

Its the opposite for me, I know I’m not an average player and I would like to know how I stack up against the competition.

This guy’s right, in reach (and potentially halo 4) people don’t play properly or as a team most of the time, because there’s no incentive to. There’s no level of seriousness/competetiveness; every game is just a -Yoink- about where no one actually pays much attention to the score.
if the invisible system works at pairing people at trueskill, there shouldnt be any problems. In the beginning we all strat at the same level, aggregates need to be built before it can actually take place. So in theory it should start placing people by their skill within a months time.
If it doesnt then, something will need to happen. See, what it is, is halo3 diehards were hoping and praying that the system would return, and when they knew months ago that it wasnt, the hate started to build. Some of you will ask, why did they wait so long? It wasnt to get your money and then put the switcharoo on you, its because they didnt want the forums to overrrun with hate threads.
Notice how they released that information and then the reviews started rolling in. Ranked MP MM is NOT the only reason to play this game, and i feel sorry for you if that is your only motivation for playing.

With a k/d of 1.12, you wouldn’t understand
Me too, I like the decision. Visible ranks make me rage. I remenber back in halo 3 having to win 3 games straight to go up one rank but then losing a rank by losing 1 game. Especially if you had a good game but the rest of your team was terrible. Got to a point where I only played ranked when my friends were online which wasn’t often.
The sad part is that all the people that are complaining are in fact getting what they say they want. Their TrueSkill rating (from what I understand) will be visible to them so that they can pursue their “goal”, see whether or not they are “improving” and have “something to strive for”. The matchmaking should be improved because I understand that the pool will be larger and they are taking geographical location and connection quality into consideration. Since matchmaking never had anything to do with rank it was not the issue before, but the matchmaking system has been enhanced so getting good matches should be less of an issue in Halo 4.
I do think that the rank that is visible (SR) will actually turn out to be more meaningful than previous progressive ranks. Since the point system is more than just kills you earn way more for participating than just being there. If you are ranking up quickly that means you are doing a lot of something, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be all sniper no-scope one-shot headshots (although if that’s how you did it I’ll leave you alone). It’ll be interesting to see how fast some players get to 130, and it’ll be even more interesting to see how 130’s fare against former H3 50’s.
I could only pre-order the standard edition but there is a store in town that will have the LE available on the 6th so I’m giving my son a tent and some rations and I’m thinking about having him set up camp tonight.
Thank you 343i for raising the bar.
Now, about those Unggoy…
I could care less if we do or dont have a rank system. Halo 4 still going to be a blast!

There was nothing wrong with reach’s ranking system. The game was just bad from horrible maps to very inbalanced AA’s the fact that you think rank was reach’s major flaw is very ridiculous. Besides what we see in H4 is a progession system not an actaul ranking system that is visible.

Wow, you stat flame me, reported, read the rules.
I dont strive to be “good” at video games, i have a masters degree, video games are at the bottom of my life goals.

I don’t think that’s true… I’d be reasonably happy if that was the case

K/D means NOTHING. Go to CoD if that’s all you care about.

I have NEVER said i was good, below average at best, i will admit it. You have misread and then comprehended poorly.
> Now that nothing matters, I’ll be betraying you for your ordinance drop. See you on the battlefield
I’ll be sure to avoid anyone that does this. I don’t care if I have to block the whole community. See you on the battlefield.
People who want to play competitively should have that option and people who want to play socially should have that option as well. Speak your opinion people if we don’t let the know how we feel one way or another 343 will never know.
That being said…can’t wait for the 6th to see what its actually like.
