Halo is like a religion, that said, I love Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3/ODST. Now I will say Halo 4 was okay, much better then Reach. To me Reach was crap.
Why Do You Like It Or dislike IT
Halo 5’s Beta:
-
Feels like Halo, there are some issues yes, but my biggest concern right now is that I look around the forums and I see people hating it. Look if you don’t like it play the originals. It needs to evolve, That and its now for competitive players like myself (thank you)- Sprint, feels nice, smooth, balanced. Halo need it because you play as a Spartan…aka a Super Soldier, Why can’t we run?- Thruster Pack, I love how you can dodge grenades.- Clamber, Yes love it.- Slide, Don’t really use it much but it could come in handy. I don’t know i just don’t really need it, some people might.- Smart Scope: 343 did say it wouldn’t make a difference, but there is and isn’t. I love the descoping, but I don’t see it working in kill cams at all. For example AR is a bit powerful when scoped in but that’s just my take on it.- Ground Pound: I use it once in a while. It’s fun, but not really sure why we need it. In multiplayer it makes sense but in campaign, I would need a reason to use it.- Spartan Voices: Are not need and get annoying, except to know if we have the power weapons on are team- Power Weapons Reminder: I don’t like giving the player 30 Seconds how about letting player know when the sniper is available how about in 5 or 10 seconds.- Weapons
- AR: as I said a bit OP. Love it though cause now it relevant.- BR: I like the three round burst, not a fan of the scope for it. But I do like it.- DMR: hard to use, Scope not liking.- SMG: love it just nerf it a smige- PISTOl: feel like the Halo CE pistol- SWORD: I’m a bit confused by this. Are we getting the Original and Prophets bane in the Final Game? It feel the same just it would be cool.- SNIPER: I love, just not a fan of the scope- SHOTGUN, HYDRA, ROCKET LAUNCHER, LIGHTRIFLE…not in the beta YET!Maps
- Truth: I love- Empire: It grew on me, but feel clustered- Others are of course not in the beta YET!Game Modes:
- Slayer (Should be team slayer) cause your in a team, play like one help each other out and talk to them.- Breakout: I want to play, but I have to wait- Others are of course not in the beta YET!BUGS:
- Pink Spartan- Lighting- Server Issues- Lobby Issues (like if i back out of intermission and during the concept art loading screen I can press A and go to a new lobby but when the loading screen is done I back at the main menu but I could still here other players on my mic and when the game started it took me to the game.
Oh I really really like it a lot! Problem is, team mates sometimes aren’t too great. Now that I’m a semi-pro, I feel a sort of responsibility. Anyways, my favorite map out of then two is empire. I like it more than truth. Empire has some really environments that can work great with the new abilities. My favorite location would probably be the area around inside sniper spawn. I like outside less.
TLDR, but yes. I am loving the beta. My initial knee-jerk reaction was to hate the game because it felt clunky and different. After 2 hours of solid play, I am loving this game quite a bit. Easily the best Halo since Halo 3, quite possibly even better than Halo 3 and on par with Halo 2. Time will tell.
My only complaint thus far is the art direction that 343 is taking with Halo. It looks similar to Halo 4 in that it doesn’t look like Halo at all. The map Empire is very characterless and cold. It doesn’t resemble anything from any past Halo games. I miss the forerunner structures from the old games, and the fun alien architecture that defined the series. Also, though I enjoy the music in the menu, it isn’t Halo. I’m not saying to scrap the music, but the chanting monks as part of Halo as John William’s score for Star Wars is. Take it away, and Halo loses a little bit of it’s identity.

correct me if im wrong but arn’t all halo different I mean compare halo ce to halo 2 or 3 whats all different from each one
My one major gripe is the fact that shields are terribly underpowered

Yes, they are. Which is why the community (whether they want to accept it or not) is slow to adopt each new iteration of the game. Many in the community initially hated Halo 2 because it deviated so much from Halo CE. The movements and mechanics were drastically different, and there are even a small minority that are still clinging to CE as the pinnacle of the series, refusing to move on and embrace and enjoy each game’s unique offerings. My initial reaction to this game is similar to what I felt when Halo 2 launched. It’s different, and at first I didn’t like it. The more I play, the more I realize what a gem this game is going to be.

Yeah, that’s the truth…! Team mates suck in MP…!

The map moves really well, but I don’t like the art design of the map. It’s cold and emotionless, and lacks that defining feel of a Halo game. But yes, the map plays incredibly well and prevents camping in it’s entirety due to the superb and inspired decision to place a Sniper as the power weapon on map and to not include shotguns or rockets (some may disagree, but this is superb map design).

see thats my point. people need to understand each one is different instead of saying there all the same and we want the same.
I love the beta also. I have been disappointed with the last 2 halos but man there’s something about this one. It really is a small picture of the whole game so I still reserve judgement on my final say to buy the game. One thing I learned in the last year is to never pre order a game. So I wont.
I enjoy the balance in the beta. I love the arena style game play again. If they would just stick to this formula I will likely purchase.
I love the beta. Some things I would change, but my favorite thing has to be how this game rewards, above all else, good team work and map dominance. It is very satisfying to see that even with all the new abilities, that aspect is still preserved.
I like it. There are a few things here and there I’d like fixed, but all in all I like it.
I think the dmr is a little under powered.
The SMG seems a little over powered to me. (And if the SMG could go back on the leg like in previous games, that would be great.)
I’m not a huge fan of the new br scope, but that’s my opinion.
The maps are fine, I slightly prefer “Truth” simply because it has more dmr’s.
I like the call outs, but I think they should be toned down just a fuzz.
Now I know most of the community doesn’t agree with this, but I kind of miss loadouts. But that’s my opinion.
All in all, I think Halo 5: Guardians is going to be a great game. Fantastic work 343i.
I absolutely love the beta. I’m shocked that so many people are raging about it on these forums. It feels like Halo, but makes some necessary changes that renew the game and make it fresh. I haven’t truly enjoyed a Halo game since Halo 3. Both Reach and 4 got boring real fast and were very disappointing. This game on the other hand has renewed my fervor for the series. I really hope people give it a chance. It’s actually a pretty amazing game.

I definitely agree with you halo has always identified by his music that was one of the things that made him great hope and delight us with a great and melodious music in the final game
I’m really enjoying it. Kind over the same two maps and one game type, so when the game gives me issues I go play some MCC until MCC gives me issues then I jump back.
