Well, I’ve seen some people posting about SWAT in halo 4 and thought I would voice my opinions on the subject.
Now I like Halo 4, I thought the campaign was great and I do enjoy matchmaking quite a bit, and was so excited to hear that SWAT was coming out.
Unfortunately it is not what I expected. I usually do OK for myself in most games I’m able to get a decent score at the end, but it does not feel right. Many people I play with and some on the forums have mentioned their disdain at how SWAT runs, the guns are a bit off, but that is OK for me…it adds another dimension to the game.
What annoys me slightly is the instant re-spawn. One thing that made SWAT good in previous games and contrasted the fast paced action of SWAT was the 4-5 second re-spawn timer, with the absence of that in Halo 4, SWAT is simply too chaotic.
The maps do not seem suited for SWAT at all. I can imagine it may come down to personal preference, but the maps feel awkward for SWAT in all of them you are forced to remain on the outside because any movement near the center of ANY of the maps is met with death from no less than 4 angles at any one time. As someone in another thread stated, you cannot possibly monitor all angle at once. It is simply too easy to get killed and too hard to play.
I do think I can persevere with it, in time I imagine I may just get better at it and none of this will matter. But from what I have seen… SWAT is good, it just needs a fair bit of tweaking to make it more playable.
