I love Halo 4 but....

these 10 and even 15 minute wait times to be matchmade on the most populous playlist BTIS need to stop. It’s so bad now it feels like I should be looking for a new game to play.

I play lone wolf as well so it’s not like I’m looking for other parties to be matched with.

Probably if there wasn’t 1000000+ threads like “I hate JIP, remove it!” matchmaking system would find matches faster. I think there should be 3 level JIP filter in options with strict/moderate/open settings so people who just want jump in and have a good time can just do it without waiting ages.

Wait what? JIP is still in the game isn’t it? How do threads have any impact on search times, when JIP is still in the game?

343i is constantly adjusting window in which JIP is working. If there was no window at all, people would join at any time in match, that means less search for matches with good connection.

Keep in mind the goal is to find good matches with good connection. A half complete trouncing doesn’t qualify.

Sure, good connections is top priority. However when I want to play just for fun I’d rather catch any game at all than wait another few minutes. When it goes to hi-level-competitive playlists priorities are different, but as for e.g. BTIS I see no reason why joining in should work only at e.g. first 2 minutes of match.

Which is actually a pretty good argument for introducing a system to at least partially tune your preferences for how you join in progress.

You are more forgiving when getting joined in to a game that I see as a “lost cause.” I see join in progress as a tool to help the people already in a game while you seem to embrace it as a tool to get people into the game faster.

I certainly like join in progress when applied in reasonably tight games, because when a player joins in, he is improving the experience of seven other people (using eight play game type just for argument’s sake) while only hurting one. Even the player that joined in should benefit from the system, as the math indicates that he will benefit from it seven times more often than he is hurt.

Go ahead and try to prevent quitting by all means though. I think we can all agree that the game would be more fun if people would stick with games through the full duration as often as they can. It would reduce the number of times JIP fails to get a replacement, and it would certainly reduce the number of times you get joined into an unappealing game.

I don’t mind JIP even though it can be a hindrance to your CSR because in turn I’ll get a near full lobby and get my chance to do well in the next game.

I usually play BTIS because its the least reliant on teamwork and it’s usually the quickest to get a game in just when for example last night 30 minutes had past and I’d still not played a proper game. Fifteen minute wait only to get put in a game that was unplayable laggy that forced me to quit(I’m from aus so it’s gotta be laaaaaggggyyy to make me quit as we are used to playing at a disadvantage)only to get another near fifteen minute wait before I found a game.

Probably wasn’t thread worthy but we all do these things sometimes when slightly rash. In Halo’s defense it’s been great so far tonight.

Even with Join in Progress I have no serious problems in finding a game.

I never quit games but I had two matches I was tossed into on Wednesday that did not finish due to Network issues not on my end. Will I be gigged for those 2 DNF’s even though I did not quit?

I wish I could say I never quit but in truth I quit about 10% of my games, mostly due to unplayable lag.

It’s not fun when your not even be able to see the enemy killing you, although your shields are dropping so obviously somebody is.

I’ve learnt that staying in the match serves no purpose other than to enrage me so I just quit and hope I get a decent host on the next try.

I don’t blame you there. The one game on Wednesday was really real bad. It kept kicking me back to the carnage screen and then boop…the UNSC screen appeared and I was back in the lobby.
