So i’m listening to the Halo 2 menu theme right now and it’s hard not to tear up at about 1:30 in…
It gets really sad but it makes me think about how old I am, me sitting in my friends room on a CRT tv playing Halo 2 with him…
It’s an amazing game. One of the very few games I remember coming home to wanting to beat the campaign, loving every second of it…
Not having Xbox Live, just sitting there on Lockout jumping around imagining what it’d be like to play other players…twirling around, hitting the fusion coils as fast as I could, thinking I could beat anybody on Xbox Live…
Just in general, a lot of fun…it’s depressing that it’s heyday is gone…
I just got done playing it for the first time in a year or so. I was on headlong superbouncing. I also get emotional when I think back to all the wonderful times I’ve had in Halo 2 - both offline and online. I’ve never had more fun in a video game ever.
I got XBL for Halo 2. When Halo 2 got off XBL I got off XBL.
It was one of the ground breaking games. It was one of the first great MP online games for a console. Good enough to bring PC users to console gaming.
Gaming changed because of Halo 2. For example in Gears you can skip a reload animation if your fast enough. Halo 2 canceling made it possible to skip animations as well.
When Halo 2 left the game that basically created XBL and made it worth buying XBL left to me and that is why I went off XBL.
The memories I collected are unforgettable for me. The people I met the people I played against and with. Trash talking, smack talking, motivating, tactics, all sorts of conversations happened. We could actually talk to everyone not like on the new XBL (which muting someone is easy to do in the new XBL).
I can only hope I can do a clutch warthog pick up or snipe, sneak a bomb in as people are firing all around, or not engaging enemies and get the flag, see fails and be annoyed by failing like planting the bomb right after the time expired, etc.
It’s a game I’ll never forget.
Ah, i do remember playing on Foundation, a full game, me and a bunch of players jumping around shooting for our lives when the enemies were close to us, and we’d try to run away but we got killed. xD
And i remember on Terminal, as soon as my team spawned, we’d run to where the train track where, and play on it, and then as the train comes, we’d wait until the train was close to run away, but we all end up getting killed, D:
I had many fun adventures on there though, but my adventures on XBL came stronger as Halo 3 came out, meeting new friends, new enemies and situations where you think if you should buy the new map packs to expand your adventures.
I’ll also Never Forget it.
The song, made me think back of those times, i get sad when i think of it, but i know it will someday come back, maybe not within the Halo 2 era, but Halo 3?
I think it means that i’m done with the old adventures i had on XBL, and it’s telling me i should go on new adventures, new aspects of things.
No doubt, those times were fun, but then again, Nothing ever really ends.
Might never know, you could go on another adventure similar you had in Halo 2.
I didn’t get xbox live until halo 3 came out and forgot all about halo 2. However I do remember playing Rockets on Lockout. those were some fun times. too bad I never got to experience Live…
Never had LIVE to play Halo 2 but it was an amazing game with great multiplayer maps original and DLC

That made me cry. So many awesome memories. I don´t know a better way to discribe it…
Everything has a beginning, everything comes to an end.

I know what you mean mate. I am the same way. I loved every second of its campaign, from easy to legendary. I would derp around for hours looking for skulls (I didn’t have internet) and simply just exploring the vast levels they gave. I would super jump, sword fly, and simply just derp around. So much fun, so much explorability, the laughter, the rage… No other halo game offers that. No other halo game has such character coded into it, such explorability and such fun and acheivable things…
I miss it.
Even just listening to the music is amazing. I remember playing it with my brother (where he would destroy me with the sniper) and everything we would do in the campaign.
It was the start of my halo fun, and I garentee it will be the last halo game I will play, even after all the new releases. I will throw it in, do a heroic run through and just have fun with my bro again…

Yes, but who decides when the end arrives? It is not the same for all, for me H2 still lives on. One more round of fun in an H2 upgrade to Live would be the true end. Then it can fade away gracefully, not ripped off Live prematurely…that was not an ending for this great game, it was only the beginning of resentment for me. Bring it back so that it can die-off in peace where it belongs…on Live.
Halo 2 was the reason I got xbox live and nothing has been as gripping since. That game was perfect to me. I don’t often look back at games and have any kind of memories attachment to them. This game is different.

Yes, this game is different. It was the reason I bought my first 360 and I believe many, many more did the same as I. I believe MS owes this game some homage, just put the -Yoink!- game back on Live!

Halo 2 is really nostalgic. The music, The game play and everything else about it just brings back so many memories. I would really appreciate a halo 2 remake <3
I don’t get it man. EVERYTHING was fun in Halo 2. Every single thing. I could play headlong all day with a friend and just sword-cancel on top of buildings. Or I could play Zombies on Foundation, or Tremors on Coagulation, or just superbounce all day with 8 other people. And to top it off, the matchmaking system was amazingly fun and competitive. GOOD TIMES.
Halo 2 was fun. So old now, but it had a lot of cool stuff. Like the Scarab Gun (even though I couldn’t get to it:P).
Halo 2(PC) still have players ^^ And people still use “XBC” and “Xlinkai” to play Halo 2 on xbox.

True this plus CMP was/is the greatest of them all, imo.
dude you are exactly right… I miss that -Yoink- more than anything. best days ever.

Man, every time I listen to Unforgotten or put in the H2 disc I get hit with a wave of nostalgia and have to just let it wash over me for a few minutes.
Soo I’m playing through all the Halo campaigns again before Halo 4 and is it possible to log into xbox live on the xbox 360 to log in achievements or is it not? Because I try and it brings me to a troubleshooter and when I go there shows everything is working fine?
