This is probably a very unpopular opinion, but I faith that some might respect my right to it. I despise the plasma pistol on a cellular level, and always have. Well, ever since it could EMP vehicles. Every vehicle and weapon has a use and a counter, at a risk. For example, the Wasp outdoes most ground weapons, but sustained fire or some ordnance will take it down, but you have the chance to take out those with weapons. Another example would be a warthog. It is very good (with a good driver and gunner) at taking down enemies on the ground, but the driver and especially the gunner are exposed to headshots.
But. The plasma pistol… The plasma pistol homes in on enemies tenaciously, and it entirely disables vehicles, allowing NO chance at fighting except back unless the EMP wears off before they shoot another EMP at you (unlikely). There is no risk/reward at play between the PP user and someone in a vehicle, except for gunners on tanks or warthogs. . The vehicle simply loses, as it cannot fight back whatsoever, whereas every other means of taking down a vehicle always carries the risk of the vehicle.
As I said, probably not a popular opinion, but there it is. I don’t like the idea of a weapon that renders a portion of the sandbox defunct.
I would be perfectly fine if the plasma pistol was removed for good. I know it’s a weapon used in tactics and if used right, can be a beast, but I never use it.
in arena i hate that it still hit you even if you boost after the shot is fired. I think that is pretty dummb since you can hold the charge for a while. Maybe if it was like the railgun where it would auto fire if you held it too long then maybe.
I totally agree man, plasma pistol and the spartan laser have almost completly derailed vehical combat. There’s just too much fear associated with both the weapons that it causes people to avoid Vehicles completely.

Trust me when I say we appreciate the advice, but it still can become a great nuisance in the hands of a troll. Though it may only last a second, you get more then one shot at disabling their vehicle. Sometimes people would just sit there and fire off all the plasma shots they had in order to make the driver pee themselves, they would have to make the decision to leave the vehicle or stay in it and risk getting boarded. Almost a lose lose. There are even a few cases of people of people who would litterally just jump ontop of the enemy vehical and go to town with the plasma pistol. (They would have two lined up)
I’m pretty sure that warthog turrets still work when hit by a PP so that would be a way to fight back. Another way to counter a PP is to not be in a vehicle. I’m sure SOMEONE on your team isn’t using a vehicle so they can just kill the PP user.
Oh, and don’t get me started on Void’s Tear and the other weapons that create a gravimetric vortex (bleugh). Halo’s gameplay is about movement, a weapon that ties you to a spot and disrupts your movement is a no-go.
I’m going to have to agree. While I don’t mind it in arena I think now that we have the enhanced mobility the emp should go. It’s just too easy to take out a vehicle with a lvl 3 req. I would keep the GL emp though

That’s where teamwork is supposed to come in. Someone charging a PP has no defensive options if even a single member of the infantry on your team decides that the heavy armor is worth protecting. Granted, selfless players are becoming an increasing rarity, that’s a fault of the community at large, not of the game mechanics itself. It’s why armored divisions IRL always have supporting boots on the ground.
I can definitely see how annoying the PP can be when you’re the one using a lv 5+ vehicle. However on the flip side, in WZ you’d be surprised how few people actually use PPs when they’re on the losing side and being overwhelmed with vehicles. You’re stuck at lv 3 and your teammates are shooting at Wasps and Banshees with BRs. All because they can’t spawn a Splaser.
I see it was risk reward for vehicles such as tanks. Stay away from the open and be smart (warthog) I don’t know I never personally had a super problem where I just loathed the pistol. Maybe I’m just lucky lol

True, people do troll with a PP, which can make people fearful of calling in a vehicle. However, in the hands of a skilled driver, a PP is the least of their problems.

I agree… Hate how your turret returns to the front of the vehicle…Why should that even happen. I feel your vehicle should just freeze as is but you should be able to shoot still.
I’d rather the charged shot move slower tbh. It moves too fast in my opinion for any hope of dodging (aside from maybe a Phaeton evade) and its tracking is rather aggressive. If either one of these were slightly changed then it would be much better.
Honestly though the PP is the least of vehicles problems. The paper-thin armor vehicles have is the main problem with them
I feel Smart Scoping is what OPed the PP even more than usual. It gave it a cross map range rather than the traditional mid to close range the plasma pistol originally had. I agree, it’s too easy to spam EMP’s at enemy vehicles or have them spammed at you, but let’s face it, Halo 5’s hyper-balancing has unbalanced the entire system. There’s an old saying “You can never have too much of a good thing” I’d like to improve this to fit my point “You can never have too much of a good thing unless something goes horribly wrong.” But I feel as though the PP range in Smart Scope should be nerfed back to H3 distance.

But these are Warzone weapons. They are weapons made for a mode that in and of itself breaks all the rules of the game. That’s kind of the point and kind of the fun of the game mode.
As for the arena variants. It’s a tremendously useful weapon. If Overshield is on the map and your team fails to get it, the next question is “where is the plasma pistol?” It’s the most underrated power weapon in the game.
