Loadouts are one of my favorite things that 343 did new with Halo 4. Here are a few reasons why I like load outs:
-You don’t ever have to start out with an AR and pistol and search or betray your teammates for a BR or DMR
-You can give your weapons weapon skins
-You can personalize it for different maps whether it be CQC or BTB
Though, most people would say that things like armor abilities and tactical packages are OP that is false. In Reach a good amount of how you played had to do with your armor ability. But in H4 that is simply not the case because if you don’t use armor abilities in H4 you can still play well. And for tactical packages and support upgrades those are just for your style of play and are not meant to completely alter the gameplay. And for those who argue that active camo is for noobs and is unfair that is also false. I am not a camo camper nor have I even used it in H4 but people have tried to use it on me and I’ve beat them many times. This is because even when you’re crouched you still appear in someone’s radar in a way and you can see their outline as with in every other halo game. If you say to me that loadouts don’t work in competitive play I would agree with you and 343 has recognized that and didn’t implement it in team throw down. So what are you load out haters complaining about?
In response to your comment about having to search for a BR or DMR, that problem could be easily solved if they just had everyone start with a BR or DMR like they did in certain gametypes in previous Halos.
With the AAs, I personally hate what they do to the game. Tactical and Support upgrades aren’t as big a deal because they don’t vastly change the flow of the game for everyone. However, someone using AAs does change the game flow for everyone in the game.
Also, on a side note, people refer to everything in H4 having a counter like stealth for promethian vision, promethian vision to camo, etc… However, what is supposed to counter Jet Pack. I’m sorry, but of all the AAs, I think that this is the single most overpowered and game breaking AA in both H4 and Reach.
I’m glad we have load outs because I hated BR/DMR starts and would drop them for something else, like a carbine.
There is some minor downsides to balance because of this but most weapons are on par with each other within the load out options.
The only thing that I don’t like about the Loadouts is the ability to spawn with the Plasma Pistol and Plasma Grenade. Should have never been thought of.
I HIGHLY recommend you commit to CoD then, seems like your cup of tea.
This game lost a lot of balance, skill, and map control with the implementation of loadouts. Choosing you own base primary and secondary, w/ perks, and AAs throw so many variables into the game it’s ridiculous. Would be fine if all rifles were essentially the same in terms of kill time, power etc, but then that would render them redundant, and with one or two one-size-fits-all situations it makes using anything else a disadvantage (see: DMR & pre-TU boltshot).
going from balanced arena to loadout gameplay was a really big mistake IMO, and if you’re going to declare things false, try to be more objective about it lmao.
I just can’t get behind the Loadout system in Halo 4. I’d even go so far as to say it is inferior to Call of Duty’s. At least in that game series you have a variety of rifles and whatnot you can choose from and are all mostly balanced. Here, it’s basically pick the DMR or die. Loadouts also ruined vehicles combat as far as I’m concerned, now everybody can just have a Plasma Pistol and Plasma Grenades and wreak anybodies day. At least in past Halos it took either getting a power weapon or teamwork to take down vehicles.
I personally find that load outs ruined the way Halo functioned at its core. No need to better yourself with other weapons or plan around your current weapon setup, just start with whatever and you’re good to go. To me a large part of what made halo, was acquiring weapons, big and small. Perhaps not in every playlist or game type, but I loved that about vanilla Halo settings.
Spawn, no BR nearby? What else is there? A needler? How can I use that to my benefit? Or plasma nades, or some dual smgs. I ran into many circumstances like this, and learning how to do this made me a better player.
I then planned intelligently how to kill the player who did have a BR and separated him from his advantage.
All this depth is gone. It’s just, spawn, shoot, die. Rinse, repeat.
Add the fact that weapons don’t spawn on map anymore, and its just terrible. Halo is almost unrecognizable from what it is supposed to be.
Here’s the scenario every time I spawn with an AR in a BR game:
Dude, you suck. That gun is flipping OP! Friggin’ hiding around corners! Get the heck away from me with that thing! Teammate, you must be an idiot. Sucker depends on Autos… Wow, he’s using a noob gun
And every time the match ends, I end up being in first or second place.
Oh, I love my AR. Lets me be different!
Loadouts do not work in halo and its quite evident. The game was never intended to be a loadout shooter and you can tell that just by looking at the sandbox. Its meant to be a balanced shooter with equal starts. The sandbox does not have that many weapons when you compare it to cod or battlefield.
Small sandbox with each weapon fulfilling its own purpose and having little redundant weapons that are already filled by another weapon. Loadouts are one thing I will never get behind, I am the person who thinks everyone should spawn the same and work from there.
Loadout shooters do not have a small weapon sandbox. It is to give variety to what people spawn with. Still there is always that one dominate setup that works slightly better then the rest but they still have quite a few weapons too chose from.
The only way to do a loadout shooter is too make sure every weapon is basically the same. Same kill times and what not, which would for me destroy halo. Each weapon has its purpose and situations where you want to use it, and to change that so we can have a loadout shooter well lets just say that would make me lose all hope for fps’s.
Loadouts are only gonna be improved as 343 goes. Halo needs to keep up with other FPS’s, we’re gonna be left behind without loadouts. Its a natural step forward.
And does anybody with DMR vs BR problems try playing any other playlist other than BTB? If you want the BR to be put in useful situations dont go into BTB.
I’m a cronic AR user and the BR is the only rifle that can stop me. I just dont play BTB that much. There really are alot of options for you guys on other playlists where your BR will be alot more deadly. good luck.
> > Oh, I love my AR. Lets me be different!

> There’s nothing wrong with the AR, or being different.
Well, my point was that I can use something else in many matches that everyone is using (like the scenario I mentioned of a match full of BRs, me using the AR.) That is what Loadouts allow me to do.
I do understand why you thought this way, but I never mentioned anything was wrong with the AR. Just made a scenario that I usually see in that certain situation.
