radar should be a last minute resort, not a crutch.
learn to talk and callout to your team mates. - be aware of the spawns. - learn the routes/movement patterns of the other team. - learn the choke points for each map.
With that being said, I have no complaints.
Sure it’d be nice if it was bigger, but if 343i left it alone, I wouldn’t mind. In the past Halo games, you could win by watching your radar 60% of the time, and looking at the screen 40% of the time.
18m of radar is the closest thing to playing “Hardcore” mode (no radar) which encourages teamwork/awareness.
Initially hated how it was much smaller. But after a while of getting used to it i feel its normal and good. Whenever I use the increased radar perk in warzone it completely screws up my awareness.
I agree, yeah. I look at the screen a lot more than my radar, which is how it should be. Overall it’s nicer to have a smaller radar, or none at all from what I’ve found in SWAT.

exactly. noone complains in SWAT or Hardcore. must be a casual illness
Have 18m in ranked, and 25m in social playlists then. Not everyone is a halo “pro” and super competitive. I would actually wager that the majority of the halo community is not of the “hardcore” competitive crowd. At least introduce a social playlist so both types of players can get what they want from the game. Warzone may be a temporary social gameplay, but its not the same as arena multiplayer.
I’m fine with playing ranked playlists and enjoy the competitive aspect that the game has brought back, but the social element is what hangs on to a large amount of the population. Without those kinds of gametypes and playlists, many players will get fed up with the game and leave.

Then it should be restricted to a dedicated “Hardcore” playlist. As it stands now, I would rather have the motion tracker removed entirely, from all playlists, than have it restricted to 18 meters. With how fast and agile players are now, an 18 meter range is all but useless, and does little more than distract you from the action.
What I liked about the longer radius from previous games was it gave you a second or two to think about a couple strategy options before engaging an enemy, and gave you some peace of mind when it was all clear, I never relied on my radar, just used it as a tool and glanced at it quickly from time to time to find out when I was about to get into a fight, as soon as I would see a dot pop up I would rack my brain with things like
-where on the map is the enemy?
-how many are there?
-what weapon is he likely to have given his location?
-what weapon am I using?
-what is the best plan of attack given these circumstances, do I bait him and set a trap or attack or possibly avoid an encounter? all of this happening in a second or two and then you have to act accordingly and it was sooooo satisfying to come up with a split second gameplan and take out 2 or 3 enemies without taking a lick of damage, or recognizing that given a players location they probably have a certain power weapon and you play it perfectly and take him down
I always found this formula playing out in my head in the old halo games, some people might call it “using the radar as a crutch” but really I was using every tool and bit of knowledge of the game at my disposal to give myself an advantage in every fight, definitely didn’t look at it 40% of the time though, all this being said I am completely fine with whatever range 343 wants to set it to
